Bit of weird request but I need to stock up on minis to last me a while, and I need some help decided on what would be best to grab, as I need to order them in the next few days (before I have had time to really get through the rule books)
I wont be using 15mm but rather 6mm as that is my preferred scale for other games, so it helps me save money as I'm already flush with 6mm terrain and bits n bobs. But this also means its affordable to buy a lot of extra units at the start, the plan being I have plenty of minis to paint, and enough choices to teach myself to play over the next year or two, as I am about to quit my job and have a lot of free time but no more cash.

I have brought myself both the market garden and the bridge to bridge books, as that is what I'd like to start with (being a fan of a bridge too far, I was recommended to start with the books that appeal to me the most, and work up from there)
And I am mostly interested in the English paras and the German ss lists.

Whilst I am absorbing the books, I need to get a head start on collecting up as many minis as I can get between now and quitting so when I leave work, I have plenty to keep me occupied over the coming months.

For those interested I will be getting most of the infantry from this range: http://home.clara.net/adlermin/WW2/WW2PAGES/WW2OPENINGPAGE.htm
For everything else, I will be using H&R or CinC minis for the tanks and artillery, which are cheap enough to add all sorts of extras to my order.

I do get that this is a bit of weird request, i have had to do a similar thing for my Epic skirmish forces, but being sci-fi its been easier to just grab just want I like and make do, but with historical's there seems to be a lot more work involved!

Many thanks!

First close the type of list. Then build list out of that and them buy the needed minis. FOW is a game is where plan first buy later. You need recon and smoke for each list, there is the corner stones. The other thing is to buy 2 full combat platoon and HQ. Any specific type of list you want buy in mind?
For British paras: 2 platoon of paras, a recon platoon, some arty, some anti tank guns, maybe a mg section or mortar section
For SS list: 2 platoon of infantry with halftracks, nebs, any recon, anti tanks guns, maybe tanks if you are fan of them, heavy platoon
