Well the all in one box for ret. game out not to long ago. The AIO boxes where a limited run but you might be able to find one at your local store or online. That would be a very good place to start. The caster that comes in the all in one box, Issyria is rather flexible and her list can be built a variety of ways. If you can't find one of those or if you new to game the battlebox for ret. would also be a good start. With warmachine it is best to start at the battlebox level for at least the first few games while you learn the rules.

If you want to play with ret jacks then I would look at probably eVyros, Kaelyssa's tier list Force wall and maybe pVyros. These casters/builds run more jacks than a typical ret. list and do it better than the other casters. As far as the jacks themselves go I would look at imperatus (really good character jack), banshee, phoenix, and griffons. They are all really good jacks that you commonly see. Chimeras are also used a lot for arc node ability as well. Also arcanists are auto includes in a ret. list with more than 1 jack. They are really useful solos that support the jacks.

Overall ret. is a combined arms faction and lot of their models are good. The only models to avoid would be the destors, heavy rifle team, Garryth and Nayl.

If you're getting started with Ret I would either look into the battlebox for smaller point games, or the all-in-one army box for larger games.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum
