Don't run with scissors. Do not play with wild animals that are larger than you.

Seriously, if you're looking for advice why don't you tell us what you have and what you are looking to accomplish?

There are literally hundreds of threads just like this, how to threads, faqs, and tacticas across this site and the PP boards.

If you have a specific question, we can try to answer it.

Otherwise you get advice like "When playing Severius against Ravyn don' drop all of your focus, run to the middle of the table out in the open and turn your caster around so the back arc is facing all of your opponents Strike Force."

Find the all in one box if your starting out new. Look on eBay for it. The all in one box is a solid 35 pt list. If your looking to buy models individual.
- pick a caster
-Errants with UA are a solid starting unit
-Reckoner best 8 pt Jack in the game
-Rhupert piper. Mercenary solo who works for Menoth gives your errants or other units tough.
-Choir need these guys to make your jacks better
- big book of Menoth. Prevents your guys from getting knocked down or no spells in his control area
-Vassal of Menoth x2

Please be more specific. We're not just gonna toss every random bit of advice at you that wont help at all. We need a specific problem to help you.

What do you own? What do you like the look of? Any specific matchups causing you problems?

Hi, thanks for the help. I bought the starter box. Can't get the all in one army box anywhere. I also ordered a box of cinerators online.

Please cancel that order of cinerators. They are terrible.

You can't use plastic cement on PVC plastic. It only works on polystyrene. You must use super glue.

Every caster has it ups and downs... I would start off with your battlebox caster pKreoss and learn the game. Play with Kreoss for now until you understand the game. Then after a bunch of games try a different caster and learn their style of play. pKreoss is a excellent caster so play him a bunch

What's left of Cadia

Go buy the Menoth starter and play some games with the models inside, then go from there.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Yeah, its probably too late to get one unless you find it on a shelf somewhere.

But I would recommend its contents, which can all be purchased individually.

Hi guys, thanks to Leo I picked up the all in one. Played 3 games last night. 2 against cigar , 1 against cryx. Realizing now how much synergy and cheap thro away units are worth. Who is our toughest caster to kill? Also what is our best way to stop enemy magic? Thks again Leo the Rat!

Tough to kill really doesn't exist in Menoth casters. We are generally the faction of old man stat casters.

Our only truly survivable casters are eFeora and Anson Durst. But don't think you can rely on taking a hit to the face. Your caster should never be exposed if you can help it.

For stopping enemy magic, we have all the answers.

Choir can stop magic on our jacks. A devout can prevent our casters from being targeted. A couple casters are/ can make themselves untargetable or make units untargetable. The covenant can prevent enemy models from casting in a bubble around it. Zealots and Errants with UA can be untargetable naturally. One of our casters doesn't stop magic, but his battle group can do stuff if you hit them with a spell. The Avatar is naturally untargetable by spells.

Pick up the UA for the errants that should be your first move.

Also check out some Mercenary models. They're relatively cheap and add a lot to your game.

The one you'll most likely purchase first is Gorman Di Wulfe, who can either put down a 3" cloud that can be used to hide your caster making them that much harder to kill, or he can through a 3" aoe that makes every model hit Blind for a turn. Blind is one of the best debuffs in the game, though note that it has been recently errata'd so that it's shakeable like Knockdown or Stationary; so whilst it's still amazingly good, it's no longer broken.

Some notable Mercs that you may want to look at.

Lady Aiyana and Master Holt - Not strictly necessary, but very popular, nice damage output and can make it so a model takes +2 damage for the rest of the turn.

Eiryss1 - Very deadly, basically has pSevvy's feat as a gun

Eiryss2 - Again very deadly, her gurn is slightly more refined, removed focus, upkeeps, and animi.

Saxon Orrik - Can give a warrior model/unit(ie your errants) Pathfinder, nice if you can't take Rhupert for whatever reason.

Taryn di la Rovissi - probably the least popular one of this list, but she's fun with pKreoss as her gun can let you ignore large based models for LoS, so if the enemy us hiding behind a colossal, shoot it with her, and then kill whatever is behind it. with the rest of your army.

Orrin Midwinter - Another model that isn't super popular, but in the right match up he can be devestating. He has an ability that doens't allow any spell casting with 12" of him. So if you're looking for anti-magic tech with some nice offensive output he's your man.

The learning curve is steep. Expect to lose a lot. I think I lost about a dozen games before winning one against a fellow newbie. Probably 20+ games before I beat someone who had some play experience.

Yes I've realized by new that not only are good tactics needed. But a vast amount of knowledge of your opponents army as well. All in all though a lot of fun!!

Yup. Its definitely a game where knowing about other factions is required.

This is also why one of the rules in the Steamroller packet is that every effect currently in play must be marked. If you have a spell on a unit, it needs to be marked. If they've used a certain ability the same. Etc...
