As stated above I'm getting into Warmachine / Hordes. I just got into 40k about six months back. Should I just pick up warmachine and drop 40k altogether or is there some kind of way to balance the two?

There is only war.

Balance.

You pick up a small battlegroup. a boxed set, a couple of infantry units, and call it a day. Play like you got a pair... until you get discouraged. Take it ewasy on just dropping a game altogeather, because you can always fall back and find 40K/ fantasy plaers, even if its lean season right now.

Play both, and branch out even more. You like 40K? You'll love Bolt Action.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Once I got into warmachine I dropped 40k like a bad habit. I just enjoy a balanced game more.

You could shelf your 40k stuff, sell your 40k stuff or play both games. Play both until you decide which game you prefer.

Drop it. Once you get into Warmachine you'll realize what a mess the rules for 40k are. Don't sell your models, however, because they're still nice to collect, paint, and display.

Get rid of that 40k garbage. Throw it in the trash, or if you have time, sell it on bartertown.

Once you play Hordes, you'll forget 40k even existed.

I sold most of it, and kept only my Demons and my Valhallans. And I'm waffling on the demons.

I didn't get into PP; got into a different game which you might be able to guess from my sig, but I agree on balance being a wonderful thing.

I sold all my 40k stuff after trying WMH.

OP I think you will find it is very common for people (well in my experience) to sell off their GW stuff after trying new games. The only exception is the old GW games like Gorka Morka etc, or when the 40k models can be used in the new game.

Hold on to them for now, but it is likely, in time, you will sell them anyway.

I'm another who completely stopped playing 40k after trying other games and finding them far superior, but I'd recommen holding onto your models and playing both for now then see how you feel in 6 months or so.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Well, I'd keep the 40k stuff.
After playing WMH for a while, you'll eventually feel to play some 40k games again. WMH has a very tight rule set and playing the steamroller missions over and over again, you might get a bit bored. Then 40k provides an alternative with a rather loose rule set.

Playing both is possible.

Don't sell anything until yu are sure you are done with it. If you have it stored away, you can always come back to it if you get thst itch.

You can play both. I have some warmachine, and its alright if you like that kind of thing, but it doesn't really have the fun factor of 40k. It depends what kind of experience you are looking for in the game.

After playing Infinity and WMH, I held on to my 40K stuff for a year. I realized in that entire year, I didn't touch it once, I sold it all and used the proceeds to buy more Infinity.

I switched to other games aswell several years ago. I still have some of my gw stuff, both 40k and fantasy. They are still good looking armies and fun to paint up. At least for me, they don't take up to much space so there's no direct need to get rid of them. I'd say keep them, just in case the rules will ever get decent again .

Balance. Unless you disslike one or the other. I've just started my warmachine group, you just need to limit yourself so you don't go broke

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

It's threads like this that remind me of why I never got into warmachine. You warmahordes players sure have an arrogant sense of superiority don't you.

No offense, but constantly attempting to belittle something that tons of people love isn't going to be well received.

For many, once they step outside of GW you realize how frustrating playing 40k really is. If GW is all you want, then more power to you. But if you're put off of trying Warmachine simply because some players hurt your feelings than that is sad.

Besides 1-2 posts, this thread hasnt been belittling at all. People are just telling the OP what they ended up doing. Alot of people are saying he should keep his 40k stuff because he might play it again or because there still nice models to collect. Its interesting why you're so offended.

Why are you addressing my opinion to the OP's question as if it were wrong? OP asked a question, I answered it.

OP asked a question, and I answered it with my opinion. What's the problem?
