Hello Guys,

I wanted to share my WIP projects for my 7th Legion

A few things to note:

I noticed too late that my primer application wasnt great, thus, i got grainy looking marines. I'll use this to my advantage: once i finish them I will apply weathering powders and they should look awesome.

Ive been using FW's new airbrush paints: Phalanx Yellow and Sigismund Yellow. I apply them with brush and airbrush respectively.

For yellow I've been using averland sunset (base) or demonic yellow (air can fromm army painter); then I use a thinned down wash made of agrax, sepia and 'ardcoat.
After that, I Layer with Phalanx Yellow, highlight with dorn yellow and then apply a layer with sigismund yellow. Finally, i highlight again with dorn yellow (this creates a 2-tone highlight).

I will post pictures of my progress. Cheers!

Looking great! Nice bright & crisp yellow also.

I'll be following along here. Look forward to seeing more as you update the thread.

Take it easy.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

I'm just getting back into my Imperial Fists after a long break. This should be some good inspiration. I have to ask; what's with the glass jar storage?

Looking forward to more

I expect it's to keep dust off of the miniatures while they're not actively being painted. Pretty good idea if I may say so. Especially if each jar is for a specific kind of model or squad (Bolter marines in one, special weapons in another, heavy weapons in another, etc.)

Just a guess.

Take it easy for now.

Ah, the glass jars. I found them at my grocery store and thought they'd be nice for storing bits... and then I realized they can hold marines in less horizontal space.

I use them to avoid dust, and pretty much what Red__Thirst said

I shall be posting an update tonite!

As Promised, i have some advancements on my infantry: I applied highlights (Dorn yellow), followed by Sigismund Yellow (cwutididther) using GWs paint gun. Then I applied a matte varnish. The following steps will include a thinner Dorn yellow high light (the 2-tone i mentioned in the first post). Then I will do the blacks and other colors.

Cheers!

-----

Things i've learned: I will no longer build-then-paint. Its a pain in the to paint they way I like.

Primer is very important - if not well applied, it will lead to lots of issues down the road.

Expect to see better work in the following infantry models

Looking snazzy! Love the older marks of armor (Horus Heresy models are always awesome).

They're a little brighter than I'm accustomed to seeing, but that's not a bad thing. I look forward to seeing more progress! Love that squad Sergeant's pose also. Very cool power sword too I'll mention.

What kind of basing are you planning on doing? Just curious on that end.

Looking forward to more updates. Take it easy for now.

I'll use astrogranite basing from GW and i will dry brush with longbeard grey. I will add some small rocks in there as well. I want them to look like they're fighting between destroyed concrete.

Other marines will have more detail in their bases as well

They will look something like my other terminators:

I like the squad! Well done and great work on the yellow. I like the subtle weathering effects you've pulled off, as well as your basing. It's basic, but that's not a bad thing, as it sets the yellow off nicely with the dark pallet you've chosen to use. Overall a very nice unit. One quick question, black shoulder pad rims = 5th Battle Company? Just curious.

I'm trying to do a similar 'battlefield grime' effect on my Blood Angels as well. Hopefully I can pull it off.

Looking forward to seeing your vindicator completed! keep up the great work so far.

Take it easy.

These guys are my legionaries and well, 5th company too when they see the lands of the future :p (40k). In the future, there is only War!

The basing is simple as you say, but theres more to it than it seems. The light is not the best and it cant show it as is . Here, i took some more pics for you to see

I will certainly have some units in pristine armor and some others with weathering. Some have seen the artificer more recently than others in my fluffy-filled-head !

Some more shots and work that needs to be done.. sometime in the near future. I hope.

Templars are looking good. Are you not painting their bodies and such yellow?

Not the templars mate, they wear black armour due to their company and rank as veterans. Black is common among veterans in the imperial fists as well

Cheers

I apologize i haven't finished my templars. I certainly underestimated the time and effort required to paint them nicely.

Ive added some pictures for you to see the progress!

Aaaaaalmost done.

I'd say were at the 90% mark!

Highlights on black, a few drybrushes here and there for a couple bases, white dots on red visors and slight weathering around some corners.

That's about 5 hours of work for me!

Gorgeous! Love the yellow and especially love the pops of green mixed in there man! Very clean (As in cleanly painted!) and slick looking squad. Nice basing too!

Also, I like how you've tinted the blades of the swords that kind of almost bronze shade. Nice effect and looks sharp on there with the yellow to set that color off.

Can't wait to see more of your army. Keep up the great work!

Take it easy for now.

Hello guys!

I've started working on my Legion again!

Here are some upcoming works!

5-man heavy weapon squad (Missile Launchers) in MkII armor.

Imperial Fists Chapter Champion (command squad. Sigismund Jr)

The other guy is a sargeant a friend of mine asked me to build to have him painted.

I still have lots of stuff to work on. My Templars are still 95% done, and I hope to finish them by the end of the month along with these guys. The Tank is coming in slowly.

Love the forward progress! Your Champ looks awesome an dI love the pose on him, as well as the basing!

The only critique I'll offer for the Champion is perhaps add some brown washes to the upper leg/thigh areas and forearm armor detail. I can see there's some amazing filigree work in there on the armor but the gold (Very nice gold by the way!) is kind of washed out on the yellow back ground. Having a shade in there to help define it and make it pop would help folks see it more easily. It's such a cool part of the model, I want you to show it off more.

The basing, posing and the painting especially are all brilliant though. Well done once again and I can't wait to see the missile launcher marines finished up.

Take it easy and keep updating!

Very nice addition! These are looking snazzy, and I like that they have the predominantly gunmetal shade armor, nice way to distinguish them from their tactical marine brethren.

Your yellows are extremely crisp and nicely vibrant as well, keep up the great work man! I'm currently about to start working on a Tactical Marine Sergeant, as well as several more Death Company models as well, so seeing this forward progress helps keep me motivated to move forward.

Hope to see more progress from you soon. Keep at it and take it easy for now.
