I was browsing KickStarter and come across these, If you like old skool looking miniatures, you might love the Trolls on offer in this KickStarter! there is also a selection of female captives on offer!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/497254986/big-bastards-monster-trolls-by-effincoolminis/description

Its by a company called Effin Cool Minis

http://effincoolminis.com/

The Trolls are big upto 80mm in height, in my opinion they have an old skool look to them with plenty of character and charm and look like they will be a joy to paint, you can either use the Trolls in a game or have them as stand alone pieces in a display case, il be using mine for the latter!

The pledges for minis start out at:

$5 for Vivienne the captive,
$16 for one Troll and Vivienne,
$39 for all three Trolls and Vivienne,
$70 for all three Trolls,Vivienne, the six other captives and free domestic/international shipping
There is a few other pledges in-between

"We designed these Giant Trolls as a fun sculpting project. We liked how they came out, so we printed them up and decided to cast them" *

"They are inspired by a mixture of Giant Trolls from the First edition Fiend Folio, and David Trampier's Trolls from the Wormy comics in Dragon Magazine" *

"The Big Bastards measure nearly 80mm to the top of their ears, and will only be cast in 100% lead free pewter" *

" They weigh in at nearly 6.5 oz a piece" *

Juvenile names, inexpert sculpting that you can already get from Foundry's trolls, and gratuitous fanservice. I'm sure there's something extra they could do to pile more of my dislike on these, but I'm just not sure what.

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

Thanks for commenting! These are the same sculptor. You may have missed the part where they were partly inspired by an Old School Comic.

The story line we have with them as a Role Playing Scenario that is being written by Willie Walsh has a comedic bend aimed at fun around the gaming table.

I was not sure how to get the multi-quote working, but I did want to thank you for taking the time to comment.

We are definitely new to the scene and are honing our own sculpting skills in the process. The idea behind waiting for perfectionism or moving forward is a daily struggle, and we have found the decision of moving forward has enabled us to find professional sculptors to commission for future projects, and also has kept the inspiration to continue to develop our own skills going.

The selling points on these models is their size (80mm), weight (about 6 oz), and character that matches the mischievous and bullying nature that these particular trolls have.

These Old School Trolls may not have a large market but as you point out Foundry has some similar looks to their trolls, which we were not aware of. However, this just goes to show when pulling inspiration from Old School art that similarities would arise.

I asked John the KS creator about the ladies and trolls, they are all sculpted by him, if i remember right they were influenced by troll sculpts and pictures from the late 80s early 90s

*edit: i have just seen he has replied to you personally

24 Hours now for the chance to push for the publishing of the Adventure by Willie Walsh that he is currently writing for us.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/497254986/big-bastards-monster-trolls-by-effincoolminis/posts/1360428

The stretch goal funds would pay for the art and layout of the Adventure to allow us to distribute it as an Epub for the community! Trust me, if you knew what I knew about it so far you very much want this adventure as just the 2 pages I read opened my imagination to laughter, challenges and a whole realm of future ideas for campaigns!

To our current backers and current fence sitters on this project I have these questions:
What are your favorite 4 models from this project and why?

What are your plans for the models you are backing?

Have you ever read a Dungeon Magazine Willie Walsh adventure?

Where are you from and how did you come across our project?

We would love to hear from you!!!
