++ Inquisition: Codex (2013) (Inquisitorial Detachment) (34pts) ++

+ HQ (34pts) +

Ordo Xenos Inquisitor (34pts) [Bolt Pistol, Carapace Armour, Chainsword, 3x Servo Skulls]

For this list, I am using the inquisitor just for the servo skulls for the drop pods and assault squads to jump in close enough to charge/shoot whatever they need to while giving the pods and easier chance at hitting the objectives. The battle company, I have 8 rhinos/razors that I can use but went with 7 and 1 pod for the tactical squads (giving me 3 pods turn 1 if I go first or 1 pod if I want to null deploy and reserve for turn 2 if I really have to).

Only had enough points to have 3 of the 5 razorbacks upgraded for assault cannons, and I picked this instead of TLLC or Las/Plas as this can give me more shots and has rending as well.

I also chose the landspeeder with 1 heavy flamer for one of my assault choices instead of an attack bike as this would only let the bike go with bolters instead of 1 shot with a multi-melta.

With this, I am fielding a lot of bodies still, mostly objective secured and still have mobility if needed as well as a good amount of firepower.

Would like to know everyones thought about this list and if there is anything you would change in this list.

For your standard demi-company devs, I would go with lascannons and give them a razorback each. They can just sit back and the razors dakka stuff with its hvy bolters. Try and find the points for more grav cannons on the one skyhammer squad.

Why the scouts? They're not serving much purpose really. They're infiltrating boltguns in a list that's going to be dropping in all over the map, and is highly mobile. Drop them, get an extra assault marine or two, some combi-meltas, and replace the two FA choices you have with grav-bikes. At least make some decent use of the white scars tactics jeeze lol... Or make them salamanders. Salamanders are great for lists like this, vulkan can make all the melta MC, and give the sarges some extra firepower or melee punch. Recommend a pwr sword vet sarg with whatever squad vulkan is in, plasma/grav pistol with mastercraft can be decent as well.

A Gladius requires an auxiliary formation, hence the scouts. It is the most point efficient choice

Scouts are auxillery for the battle company as I need to take one to get the free transports and is the cheapest as said by spartiatis. Since they are only 165, this lets me put the points where I need it as the scouts are mainly a distraction since I can put them in cover and +1 to their cover saves due to the formation.

As for changing the grav cannons on the battle company for lascannons, I don't think that would be a better choice as I can just scout the rhino thanks to khan and still have 10 shots at a target at AP2 instead of 2 shots. The Fast Attack choices I took since I am running a battle company and skyhammer which is quite a bit of points. This list isn't araound the bikes. Khan lets my transports scout as well. And if you think the list should go with bikes with grav instead of land speeder and attack bike, what would you drop to bring in for 2 squads of them? (grav bikes with combi-grav is 103pts, so 206 if I try to go with 2 squads)

Well lascannons are better vs vehicles and make a great alpha strike weapon 48" is pretty far. You can get what like, 40" with your gravcannons? 8" can make a difference sometimes haha. Didn't know about the auxiliary necessity. Apologies.

The way I see it you are wasting 554 points on the inquisitor and skyhammer in exchange for 4 grav marines. Why not just take an ultrmarine CAD/Allies with a libby/tiggy, 1-2x bolter scouts in storms to help nullify opposing drop lists and a pod filled with grav cents?

Should be;
90 - ML2 Libby, rolling Div for ignores cover
95 - 5x Bolter Scouts, LSS
35 - Pod
250 - 3x Grav Cents, Omniscope

470

Exchange the libby for Tiggy with the extra points, get more scouts and make it a CAD, exchange the scouts for podded marines if you need to get an odd number of pods or just continue upgrading razorbacks with las/plas or ass-cannons. Lots of room to play with before you reach your points limit rather than wasting a bunch of points on min assault squads who will struggle to do anything but give up kill points.

The Gladius benefits greatly from scout and hit & run on everything.
I find WS tactics give far greater flexibility than the UM (though an UM in heart ) extra doctrines. Plus the whole point of the Gladius is MSU without a deathstar unit that is a point sink and a big target.
If going first, all marines are in rapid fire range t1 and already control the center of the table scoring objectives.

To the OP: keep your list as is, very competitive.
I run a similar list (with 2 sternguard squads in pods and a vanguard squad instead of the scouts and skyhammer) and i have yet to lose a game in maelstrom missions.

Thank you guys so far.

@Drasius
That is a good idea, didn't think about just using drop pod cents for this. I will test out that option this week and see how it does.

I will be playing this list I posted at the beginning for a tournament on Saturday and will see how I do. Mostly people are playing a lot of MSU/Skyhammer/Droppod lists at the shop, with 1 Spacewolf/Dark Angel army and a war con, so will see how it goes.
