I'm not a Warmachine/Hordes player (at least not yet), but I was going to purchase some Cryx Bane Thralls for a project I have going.

However, I've found 3 possible purchases I could make and I'm not sure what they are;

PIP 34018 Seems to be a blister of 2
PIP 34110 Seems to be a set of 10
PIP 34091 Seems to be a set of 10 (higher price than the one above)

I'm assuming the difference in 34110 and 34091 is that the higher priced ones are metal and the others are plastic.
However, is the 2 figure blister made of metal or plastic?

Thanks for any help.

I tried dabbling with 40k9/10 again and tried AoS3 - Nice models, naff games, but I'm enjoying HH2 and loving Battletech Classic and Alpha Strike.

PP didn't use to sell boxes of 10 for units. They would sell boxes that contained 6 models and then you would buy blisters of 2 if you wanted to run the full unit.

Also PP started converting some of its old sculpts over to plastic and when they did that they also lowered the price in a lot of cases.

So PIP 34110 would be the newest bane thrall release and the models will be plastic.

I believe at this point the 2 pack is out of stock. They stopped making the 2 packs shortly after each unit was switched to a full box. You can occasionally find them on shelves or from online retailers who have backstock though.

Check ebay for a blister pack. I find having 12 is useful and gives the option of running 2x min units if need be!

And if running Goreshade2 or BLT you're gonna need extra Banes.

Thanks for the info.

There's quite a few places still selling the blisters of 2. Are these older ones the exact same size as the new plastic ones?

Cheers.

Pretty much yes. Certainly not noticable!

Thanks for all the info.
I bought myself a box of the 10 plastic figures. They came today. Although I love the figures, I must admit I was rather shocked they were made of what I'll call "Mantic restic" rather than plastic. Although I'm a Mantic fan and can cope with this material, I'm shocked the price I paid was as if it was premium gold plated GW plastic.

Anyway, I've put a few together and will paint them up over the next week or 2.

Thanks again for all the swift replies.

Yeah, know deal for model warmachine does tend to be not quite as good but more expensive.

Their new sculps are really nice though, I love my Ruin model.

3 made and painted... although they were rushed.

And if you ask about the basing... they're going to be Wights for Kings of War. :-)

Mind you, after making these, I have been starting to look through the Warmachine line. Hmmm... how do I convince the wife I should start another minis game. :-)

Thanks again for all your help on Bane Thralls.

They look really good mate.

In fairness you can now download the Warmachine rules from the PP site so you could probably muster up a couple of forces from what you have in your collection and give it a go that way!

Of course your bases would need to be proper 30/40/50mm round bases. You really cannot play WMH without the proper bases.

Basing? Old school stuff. Which is why they have "Goblin green" edges to the bases,

I PVA paint the base + dip in a sand mix. Allow to dry. Repaint with 50/50 pva/water mix and allow to dry - overnight if possible.
Paint Scorched Brown, Drybrush Bone and white.
Add some green flock (I think it was Woodlands scenics blended turf - had it 10+ years), some static grass.

For the Bane Thralls I did, I tried to paint the middle of the base in black and drybrush grey and add on wasteland tufts in an attempt to make it look like they were killing the ground they were walking over but it just didn't show up clearly enough.

I kind of got stuck in that way of basing as my 2 main armies (Undead and Orcs/Goblins) were started like that for Warhammer in the late 90's and I like to keep any new additions based the same.
:-)

I must admit though, I do love those circular 30mm Warmachine bases with the lip.

It is funny, after playing WMH for a while I got used to 30mm being the small base. Then I started Infinity which uses 25mm as the smallest and suddenly the base I had used for years in 40k just seems so small.
