Early-war - 1500 points

Mid-war- 1850 / 1700 points

Late-war- 1420 points

Good to see LW back to more reasonable levels. MW should be interesting as I found myself always strapped for points. I foresee many more tigers and panthers on the battlefield.

Oh, 1420 is an interesting spot. Too little to take a bunch of crazy cats and other "End War" goodies.

1420 Might make me bring out my British armour again. The 330pt drop doesn't hurt me terribly, as my main force was CV, so 330 is enough for an additional bare-bones armoured platoon of 3 tanks--which isn't a great loss to drop, and only had a single 17pdr in it--2 M10 Achilles--again, not a great loss to drop, as they're very much a glass cannon platoon regardless of whether they're 2 or 4 tanks strong--or 2 Challengers. I cant field what I used to, but I can still put together something decent from the RC 7th AR or Desert rats.

What other nations are forced to drop in order to reach 1420 should mean that whatever I drop shouldn't leave me under-gunned against most things, and should mean that I'm equipped to tackle lists like US armour and, to a lesser extent, Tankovy companies more effectively, lists that at higher points levels can outnumber, out-armour, and out-gun British armour with ease.

Just looking at lists like US 4th Divison Tanks, they can fit in the basic (2x) 1x M4/A1, 2x Easy Eights, 1x Jumbo, and E8/Jumbo 1iC/2iC, but they then have a whopping 80pts left, with which they can afford 2 81 mortar HTs, or 1 Recon Squad, or 1 Trained Recon Cav. patrol, or 2 trained AA HTs. Nothing else. They're capped at 3 platoons max, with one platoon being small and potentially very squishy. Even knocking the HQ down to regular M4s only gives them around 100 more points to play with.

7th Divison fares much better points-wise, being left with around 350pts after the base platoons and HQ. That's enough to get some priests and a veteran recon patrol with near 100pts remaining, or some TDs if you want to downgrade some tanks to afford a 4th platoon of recce to round the force out. But it's still expensive, and at only 3-4 platoons for a CT force, you're going to have a rough time.

So you have to make compromises. Dropping an E8 per platoon, even in the CT 7th Division, might well be necessary, perhaps even the Jumbo if you want to keep your firepower intact. Trying to run with Veteran combat platoons will require a lot of sacrifice.

I can see US armour especially taking a hit at tournaments, seeing as they can no longer run multiple Jumbos and E8s alongside recon and artillery or TDs without being dangerously low on platoons. I don't think Patton will necessarily be an auto-take any more, and any forces wanting to run more than 3-4 platoons will have to skimp on their E8/Jumbo/76mm upgrades. A good general could still make them a winning force, but I don't think they'll necessarily be a powerful as they were.

We might also see more CT Schwere Panzers and Panthers from DM. A list with 3 Panthers, 4 KTs, and some AA or infantry might not have the greatest amount of models, but they'd be tough, especially on the defence and against other tanks.

I'm rather interested to see what sort of LW lists 1420pts will bring.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
