Hey guys, I am in a dilemma as to which unit to get for my Khador army.

I have narrowed it down to either Kossite Woodsmen, Assault Kommandos with Weapon Attachments or Cylena and Valachev. They all have different uses, but trying to figure out what would go best with what I have.

What I have is;

Well, so let me know what you guys think I should get. I have thirteen spaces left in my case for infantry.

Nyss and Valachev for sure.

Then Assault Kommandos if you are branching out into the jank.

Don't get Kossites.

Though I notice you don't have Black Dragon Pikemen. You should have Black Dragons.

I like the Black Dragons, but I prefer the bog standard UA quite a bit more, relentless charge has been pretty game changing when I play (we use a lot of terrain).

I really want the Nyss and Valachev (really like the models), but I already have enough people wearing card board armor.

I have been running into a lot of low POW shooting, AOE's, and fire, so I have been brainstorming about using the Assault Kommandos with Vlad1+2 and Irusk1+2. Between Signs & Portents, Hand of Fate and Battle Lust, I feel they could be quite interesting. I know the same can be said about the Nyss, but yea they have great DEF. But AOE's will still tear them apart.

If anything, I am kind of leaning towards getting both the AK's and Nyss, and getting rid of the Kayazy.

Vlad goes well with the Kommandos..... But he also goes extremely well with Nyss too.

Hah, it is hard to find something that Vlad isn't good with. I figured that since they generate more attacks, they would benefit more from those abilities. But, they are still very pillow fisted, and Signs & Portents or Hand of Fate can only do so much to help them hit harder. Whereas the Nyss already hit fairly hard to begin with, and have Pathfinder, Hunter and rock solid DEF. You know, the more I think about it the Nyss seem like a slightly better option, but if I have the Nyss than I am not sure just how badly I need the Kayazy. I am not a fan of watching my paper armored warriors disappear under AOE's. I really like Shield Wall though, it makes my Iron Fang Pikemen last much longer than they should. And with the Iron Fang Kovnik, an 8" move while in Shield Wall is no joke.

Don't forget, the Kovnik works on anyone with the shield wall order, so it effects AKs as well as MoWs.

Kayzay have suffered with the infantry hate that's appeared recently. But Nyss can hide behind forests and just not be seen before attack back. Plus they are a bunch of weapon masters, apart from maybe Doom Reavers or Ulhans, there aren't many better targets for Vlad 2s feat.

Hah, very true, I never even thought of boosting them up with Vlad2's feat. You know, I am I am going to get boththe Assault Kommandos and Nyss. Sorry Kayazy, you guys are now on the chopping block.

Nyss are fantastic in just about any list. The Vlads, especially Butcher1 with Valachev......

I really like the Kayazy too if your not going up against something with a bunch of AOE's, or a way to get around stealth. They can be a real nightmare for some factions. (and with Butcher1 and Fury on them its just so much fun).

Irusk1 does love him some Kayazy though. Iron Flesh then dropping that to put battlelust on them when you go for the assassination? It is a solid play, especially if you can feat them 50/50 invincible with a +2 to hit for that assassination as well (very opponent dependent being able to use the feat offensively like that though).

Get the unit you want to play with. Nothing is worse then the feeling of fielding a unit that you don't really like just because it works well with a certain warcaster or other units in your army.

Well. It has been decided. I got the Nyss haha, I got a great deal at 29.99 for the full unit new in box. Time to get Valachev! I also plan to get Butcher1 + Butcher2. Butcher 3 really doesn't do it for me, not a fan of the War Argi. Would have preferred it if they were just big honkin' dogs. I will be converting my unassembled Beast-09 (I got in a trade, don't really need two) to be Ruin, my buddy has a spare set of all the pewter parts from the box (don't ask me how, it is a mystery haha). I was thinking of trading my Kayazy Assassins and UA for Doom Reavers, would that be a wise decision? I like the Kayazy, I just barely ever field them, they are fantastic with the Warcasters I own, just very uninspiring when I play them.

The Kayazy don't get me as excited as when I put the Iron Fangs down, I can hear in my head the Pikemen shouting orders, men grunting while they attack. My other units do something similar when I field them, I can visualize them fighting for their lives on the battlefield. I celebrate their victories and mourn their losses. The Kayazy have never really done that, they just don't seem to fit. I kind of feel that Doom Reavers would fit my collection more, they would make Fenris less lonely haha.

Shame you don't like Butcher 3 that much, he is probably khadors best caster at the moment, and he's fun to play. But so are Butcher 1 +2.


As for the doom reavers, I feel they are a unit that you need at least two of. They are only men in pants, and they die to any shooting. Having twelve means that some should get in, and you only need three or four to connect to have a dead unit.

But, thankfully I have all the tools, vices and equipment needed to put them together without much trouble, the other gunsmiths in the shop always look at me funny when I come in on my free time to work on toy soldiers, use my sonic cleaner to strip models ( best thing ever to strip pewter models in). But, once they see it assembled they all think it is very cool. A couple of the others guys have even started collecting armies and playing.

I got to field the Nyss for the first time today, they are fantastic. I play against Trollbloods a lot, and they are just what I have been needing. I proxied Valachev with them, and under Signs & Portents with Vlad1, it almost felt like cheating. Thanks again for the advice!

Ah, a Gunsmith. If you can work on AK-47's you can work on Nyss. AK's, reliable, but a pain in the backside to work on. ( I love mine)
