Sort of a bland question, I know. I recently starting painting a ghostkeel suit and enjoy the model ascetically even more than in the codex or across the board. That being said it was my first and only Tau model and was more of just a painting project for fun. If i were to start accumulating a Tau force what would be a good starting point? After this Ghostkeel model I think I like their suits a lot, also a pretty big fan of the broadside model. An idea i had was starting of very small with just a formation that i could ally with my grey knights (not very competitivly) just to get started and not overload myself with a full 1500-1850 army at one time that needs painted, I think we all have done that once or twice ;D Anyways thanks for any advice or guidance with Tau!

There's a formation in the main codex that is the Ghostkeel + 3 units of Stealthsuits I think, as well as a Formation that is just Ghostkeels. Those might be good starting points for you since you've already got a Ghostkeel.

If you wanna go full on cheese, there's also a formation that's 1 Ghostkeel unit + 2 Stormsurge units. It's lacking in terms of durability but you can flatten most things at range.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

2 units of stealth suits, that gets the optimised stealth cadre in which the ghostkeel is excellent.

Aqshy, realm of Fire

2x Start collecting box to give you 2 Ethereals (ebay one?) 20 fire warriors, 6 XV8's and a drones galore which outside of the ethereal is the mainstay of a tau force. It's also much, much cheaper than buying them individually!

This is where I'd put my signature...If I had one!

Look in to the Hunter Contingent, this formation provides you with good buffs while supporting a choice of multiple different models, your Ghostkeel included.

"Allied Advanced Cadre" is the only formation I would ever consider.
