Hello Dakka, I'm trying to introduce a couple friends into 40k. They had interest in Tyranids and Chaos so I'm having them play against each other to get a feel for the armies.

I wanted them to have an array of units to play, but I don't want them to have a stagnant game.

Chaos List (CAD) (999 pts)

Does one of these lists have a better chance than the other? If so, how can I balance it? Thanks ahead of time for the advice!

Dont know anything 'bout chaos.... but pyrovores? Everything else Nid can be used later on depending on what you like in your army, but pyrovores are unusuable unless they're your favorite model and you cant live without them.

They seemed alright. What should I replace them with?

Venomthropes or zonethropes instead of pyrovores.

I made it three Venomthropes and threw some Devourers in there.

If it's not too complicated for new players I would say replace Havocs with oblitorators with Mark of Nurgle.

Also if you wanted to be a bit mean to the niddys I would get Mark of Slaanesh on the lord then replace both chaos marine squads with noise marines armed with sonic blasters and doom sirens. The ignore cover should destroy nids, but idk if you dont want to have it too one sided or anything.

Well they're both new players so I want it to be pretty balanced. Would you conider the Obliterators to be the better choice?
