Hey! Thinking of trying out the tourney scene in my area with my Orks. I know Orks are not competitive, but I love them so Zog it.

So heres my 1850 list. Let me know what you think and tear me to pieces as you please.

CAD

HQ: 105

Big Mek (Fizer Upperz, KFF, Grot oiler)

Elites: 315

Tankbustas: 2x Squigs, Trukk - 105
Tankbustas: 2x Squigs, Trukk - 105

Troops: 105

Gretchin - 35
Gretchin - 35
Gretchin - 35

Fast Attack: 90

Deffkoptas: 30
Deffkoptas: 30
Deffkoptas: 30

Heavy Support: 180

Gun Wagon (Forge world. Its a Trukk with a twin linked big shoota and AV 13 front, AV 12 Side and 10 rear with a transport capacity of 10) 60 points
Gun Wagon
Gun Wagon

LoW: 440
Buzzgob's Stompa: Armed with two Supa Rokkits - 440

Ghazys Bullyboyz: 615

Meganobz: x 5 w/ 1 kombi skorcha - 205
Meganobz: x 5 w/ 1 kombi skorcha - 205
Meganobz: x 5 w/ 1 kombi skorcha - 205

Meganobz ride in the gun wagons. Big Mek in the Stompa. Deff Koptas for eating overwatch, Stompa for stompin and Gretchin for holding objectives. Tankbustas are there for vehicles and providing a distration for Meganobs. Do you shoot the easy to kill Trukks and Tankbustas and spare the MANZ or do you fire at the AV 13 front and 12 side in hopes to stop the pain train? What about the Stompa? Also nice trick I like is to wrap one squad of gretchin around the stompa (the way they are wrapped depends on the enemy) in order to stop the enemy from charging it without having to go through the gretchin first.

I'm uncertain, but I'm not sure if gun wagons are still 'legal'. They were not part of the forge world dread mob PDF update, which makes me wonder.

Personally, I'd rather take 2x strong(er) units of tankbustas than 3 weak ones.

Stock big mek stompas are honestly kind of awful. It's cheap for a stompa, but you're left with 2 decent guns that rarely hit, and a very slow, but powerful, melee.

Taking deff kannon (s) is generally recommended. I'd definitely take a deff kannon over the supa rokkits, though it does remove your claw.

I'd recommend a killsaw over skorchas on your bullyboyz. Skorchas are ok, but killsaws really make a difference v. heavy armor. Same cost.

Using deffkoptas to eat overwatch is a solid tactic, situationally, but I'd probably, in general, hold them back to turbo-boost to objectives, if you're playing maelstrom.

"Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment." Words to live by.

You may want to check with the tournament that you are going too. Buzzgob's Stompa has been FAQ up to the price of a regular stompa at many tournaments.

Big Mek Stompa has FAQ'd but thats included in the Dread Mob Update. Most TO's will follow all updated sources ITC or not, so they follow the price as well.

Only thing I could recommend (without knowing the meta in your area) is dropping supa-rokkits, I feel for 20 points each, they are not worth their one time use only damage. You are better off saving those points for something else (like bumping up the tankbustas count).

Also you can take a deff kannon belly mount on Big Mek Stompa so you can keep your D melee arm.

You're missing out on the cheapest best ork unit. BUzzgobs kustom stompa w a bellygun. Screw thise hyper cisted rokits.

Also as much as people want to cream themselves on tankbustas, they still suck. Sure theyre cheap, but their leadership sucks... mob rule sucks... and their ballistic skill is all suck. ESPECIALLY in a trukk. Truk pops. Nearly 50% die. You fail your pinning test. Mob rule kicjs in. More dead boys. Oh no guess what... now youve lost >25% in a phase. Test again. Oh too bad... another fail.... your 1 or 2 boys are retreating.

Lootas bro. INSIDE the stompa. 10 firepoints. Cant be shaken. Relentless. Always will shoot at BS 2 unless shooting overwatch or a flier or some other shenanigans.

Also put the megaz in the trukks. Hide and turbo boost round 1. Fearless. Put the truks in the opponents deployment. Who cares if tgey pop it their turn. Youre swinging PKs!!!! Consider reserving them if you cant keep them protected T1 if you go 2nd.

If you must take the TBs, Put them in the wagonz.

Consider tourself torn...

Ten fire points? I am only seeing four. Three in the belly one in the head. We also play ITC rules so my stompa cant be more than 25% of my army. It cant go above 450 points or it breaks that rule. Bellygun stompa is 500.

I am wondering if I am going overboard on the tankbustas. Maybe swap them out for a burna boy squad in a trukk for variety, but IDK. I like the Trukks because they provide the enemy with choices. Fire at easy to kill Trukks to kill tankbustas? Go for the harder gun wagons to get the very important MANZ? Go for the deff koptas? Oh and dont forget the giant stompa. Something will get in if my tank bustas have to die to get the MANZ in then thats a win I think.

Ohhhh boy, are you going to have fun with this list. As stated before, check about that stompa of your's, but otherwise that's looking very solid.

Let me know how your games go with the list!

The armies that I collect:

- Tyranids, 2,000 pts.
- Orks, 1,250 pts.
- Tau, 750 pts.
- Guard (PDF), 750 pts.

(Yes I have a thing for horde armies to some extent)

Tankbustas are great for many reasons and if tactically used correctly can be a huge asset to utilize, yes they can blow up in the trukk, but you need to use your noodle to ensure they aren't targeted. Lootas are great but I'm pretty sure they do not get relentless from the Stompa. Also kustom stompas are the way to go but most TO's will not allow them, esp if you are playing ITC format.

ITC rules do not limit units to be 25% or less of your army. You can run Big Mek Stompa with 2x Deff Kannons for 550p and it's legal for ITC. The only thing you need to ask your TO is what additional rules they follow/change or are they going strictly ITC vanilla. Big Mek Stompa has 10 firing points (and is stated in the datasheet). I run 2 trukks of tankbustas over lootas due to the need for str 8 weapons. If I have to I will start them in reserves to let stompa take the heat until they arrive to finish up the business.

@ Nitro

I will check the ITC thing again. I was certain that LOW couldnt be more than 25% of your army. I could be wrong (Wouldnt be the first time) though.

I assume these firepoints are in the head and belly?

See what I am worried about is the Strength 10 AP 1 having a bad scatter and hitting my meganobz.

So far I have played one game with the list and it was super fun. It was against a buddy of mines Guard list. CAD, tank command formation and scout company from cadian battlegroup.

We made 1 fairly important mistake which was putting sentinels as S6 instead of their actual strength of 5, but the Orks still pulled out a close win. Fighting was all orks, and I almost lost on objectives, but due to killing him a bunch eventually the Orks caught back up and won the game by Two VPs.

Also because I use the big mek stompa as a meele bully I dont think I want to use Lootas in it because they wouldnt be able to shoot much.

@tibs
Big mek stompa has firing points where ever you put them on the model.

Also having lootas inside for a melee stompa is still great. Embarked units can still fire at targets while stompa is locked in combat. You just have to follow the targeting rules and apply as necessary. On another note just in case it crosses your mind, burna boyz won't be able to do any damage to anyone locked in combat (as per rules stating they are not eligible targets period the end) even if you target something else and that locked unit is a secondary.

I just use the standard stompa and make him close enough WYSIWYG by making the gun be the lifta dropa, the gaze be in the head and keeping the mega klaw.
