In another few months we will see the 1 year anniversary of AoS and it seems like the biggest (definitely not the only) hot button issue is points. If I were suddenly in charge of GW I would want to get as many of the customers back as I could whose one big barrier to trying/enjoying the game is to be able to play pick up games with a reasonably balanced point system. As it is AoS is a great narrative/skirmish game if you're not taking it too seriously, play the scenarios and use formations but I would love to see some more fleshed out rules for larger more impromptu battles now that the groundwork has had time to be digested. In comes the Age of Whatever the Hell expansion to AoS which provides new FO charts, battle plans and dun dun dun points values for all the armies. These could go up on the website as a free download as well as printed and packaged as the official GW AoS "Whatever the Hell tournament" rules. AoS classic would still be great for those narrative setups that provide balanced forces already and for initiating people into the hobby with small simple battles. Then when you want to run a tournament or play a quick setup pickup game you have the framework to do so and no one has to use a fan made comp if they don't want to. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we see something like this once all the armies have had their release window and we know exactly who is making up the new setting and who is getting the squat. That's how I would do it, how would you?

I would create a page on the website that listed and linked to several of the more popular comp systems along with a brief note about what a given comp was particularly good for.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Never would they do that, because first they would have to admit that their system is flawed. Second, they have no control over the comp systems and they can't make you pay for it.

As great as that would be, I don't see it happening. I would rather them realize that there is in fact some serious issues that need to be addressed and make a "force book" that gives points costs for units (without those stupid formations like 40k has which gives you all kinds of bonkers crap for free or even more special rules). Make it cheap and update it every year or so. And also release a living force book PDF which is constantly updated with the new releases.

The question isn't what they would do, its what you would do. Naturally I have absolutely no belief that GW would even consider the notion of what I said.

The day GW puts points on Age of Sigmar will be a sorry day indeed for us all because the points will easily be exploitable, there will be obvious must takes and never takes, and all the work that the community did in creating their infinitely more balanced point systems will have been trashed.
