Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I feel that its necessary to point out that in case you didn't know, Battlefront owns Gale Force 9. Those are the Flames of War sculpts done in colored plastic.

At first I thought this was pretty silly, but now strangely want to try it out....
Given that, I don't have the best track record considering:
Bought into and sold out of Xwing: 3 times
Bought into and sold out of SW Attack wing: 1 time
Bought into and sold out of DnD Attack wing: 2 times
Bought into DnD Attack Wing: a third time
Bought into and sold out of Armada twice
Bought into Tail Feathers
Will now buy into this...although buy is relative since I already have the tanks from FoW...

Not sure I'm up for this. I love X-Wing, I really do. But it's not what I want from a WW2 game.
That sounds terrible.

As an intro into historical gaming? Sounds like what is needed.
The reality is the historical gaming crowd isn't getting any younger, and when it is seen as being some of the grognardiest of grognards, it's exactly the most inviting either. It's the only crowd where I have witnessed one vet refusing to play with a 15 yr old because the kids tanks were just plain dunkel and not cammo'd.
So yeah, if it gets a few more of the younger crowd interested in getting their treads wet, then yeah, I will pew pew with them on TANKS.
No I mean terrible as in, that seems like the wrong system for ground warfare.
I am all for the general idea of Tank vs. Tank rules with pre-paints to get more people into the game. Sails of Glory did something similar for the Fighting Sail period and I am all for it.
Trust me. No one likes getting down and going Pew-Pew any more than me. I use Dragon Rampant with Skylanders!

Unfortunately, looking at that rulebook, they seem to have not included any kind of movement pre-planning. Honestly, that's one of the most interesting parts of the X-Wing system. It does a really good job of allowing simultaneous decision-making in a turn-based game.

Yeah, but that kind of pre-planned movement works well for planes/ships. It's a little more difficult to justify it for tanks.

You can find assembly guides for almost all of the plastic kits on the Flames of War website.

Couldn't agree more. Had some success with Bolt Action: Tank War on similar grounds. The big 'free for all' scenario that's essentially "world of tanks on a tabletop" is quite fun to run and good at capturing people's imagination, and if Tanks follows x-wing logic, then named unique commanders are likely to be a thing.
The assembly guides on the Flames of War site are much more in depth, like this guide for the Sherman tank.

They're coming from battlefront, expect things to be delayed a good 3 months.
I'm planning to pick up all the german tanks, and as I have Wings of War/Wings of Glory, see if I can incorporate planes (divebombing and strafing) into the game. If need be, I should be able to look at D&D Attack wing (it incoporates flight and ground units).

So who else has picked this game up. Grabbed a copy at tankfest, pretty fitting I guess. Haven't put the tanks together yet as still have to go through my crate of fow stuff to see what I have.
Looks a neat little game that can be built upon. Is pretty much world of tanks on tabletop. Gets you a quick tank fix if you don't have hours to play anymore ie handy for wargaming dads lol.

A small town at the foothills of the beautiful Cascade Mountains
Picked TANKS! up on Friday and was just clipping the sprues this afternoon. I was surprised at the number of upgrade cards included. Also surprised that they included a number of tank cards for tanks not in the box. Impressed so far. Mez

Yeah like most people you will already have the tanks for the cards at home all I need is a Pershing to finish the yanks. Don't have any Russians for flames of war so will need the add on packs for those in the future.
Hope they add the ops pack rules for release in the future. Will be cool to have some campaign books .

The first OPS packs are already en route to distributors/stores, with a July 18 start date for season one, and covers three missions based on the Normandy Invasion. At least four new terrain types (Bunkers, Trench Lines, Anti-Tank Trap, and Mine Fields), two of which have stat profiles (making them effectively immobile tanks). Oddly, they haven't updated the map, which still shows March/April/May for each mission, instead of the revised July/August/September.
Picked up barkmanns Panther box online today, yep I know there's a plastic panther but might as well have the mans tank to go with his card. Already have wittmans Tiger waiting to roll out.
