Hiho,

to add some variety to the gaming table and depict some smaller shrubs I wrote a tutorial detailing how to go about making shrubs and brushes for both 15mm and 28mm. I went for hazel bushes this time as they have a distinct bark and also allow to decorate the bases with some hazelnuts and squirrels .

Basically the stems are made using wire covered in woodfiller and acrylic caulking.

You then paint those with craft paint and push them into a base built up using air-dry clay.

The base is then finished using soil, brushes, poppy seeds as hazelnuts and a squirrel.

Finally MiniNatur birch foliage is added.

A detailed step-by-step tutorial and plenty of pictures can be found on my blog:

Yes, down the road I will definitly do some swamp terrain, too. Did you have any specific trees in mind?

I don't know what these are, but they have a very interesting type of composition or grouping - they're one of the trees I'm trying to make for my swamp board (still very much WIP) They grow in the swamp here in one section of GA (along with gators )

Do you have any idea if the shrubs in the lower stem section are part of the plant or another species growing on the trees?

I don't specifically, no, =/ but my impression from the similar shaped leaves is that they are younger offshoots. A lot of plants here seem to grow like that.

Definitly something to look into in some point. I think a mix of those shrubs and birch trees might be cool.

Very cool. I have yet to try and make these types of trees but want to in the future. This should help!
