So my gaming focus for the near future will primarily be Middle Eastern/Afghan moderns using the Skirmish Sangin, Force on Force and the upcoming SS Day of the Rangers rules (when the Kickstarter arrives). There was an excellent article in a recent Wargames Illustrated about modern skirmish games and it featured a section on terrain - the article's author had an excellent set up built using stuff from these guys:
http://crescent-root.com/pages/Product/28mm/28mm_series1/28mm_series1.html
Now the stuff looks absolutely gorgeous but the problem is, they are US based, no EU/ UK distributor - I really want to order from them but customs and shipping will kill it. I have some arab/middle east/afghan style buildings already (unpainted of course!) so what interests me the most is the ancilliaries - like the plaza and building bases, market stalls, all that sort of guff - although more buildings never hurt!
Anyone know if you can get this stuff in the UK? Is there a reseller or mailing service or something? Alternative manufacturers? Basically, I want my board to look a bit better than some buildings plonked on a tan mat. Which reminds me, I need some rubber roads too!

Nice looking stuff.
I'm not aware of a UK importer or a manufacturer of such kits, though as they are laser cut MDF there must be plenty of companies capable of producing it. Getting it supplied painted might be more difficult.
Just for the bases, have you considered making your own? It's can't be all that difficult to cut a load of standard size card 'bricks and tiles' and glue them down to a sheet of hardboard.

I'm not the most creative or artistic of individuals unfortunately, hence why I try and buy pre-made and even pre-painted in cases. Most of the stuff I try and kit bash or build from scratch ends up looking like something fabricated by a geriatric with very poor motor control.
I'm not averse to buying unpainted MDF buildings but along with having zero artistic ability, I am also a world champion procrastinator so unpainted usually means it'll stay that way for a very, very long time.
The reason why I am drawn to the Crescent Root stuff particularly is that it looks absolutely gorgeous and just what I am after. I wonder if it is worth approaching 4-Ground or someone like that to see if they can license it for the UK?

I emailed both Sarissa and 4-Ground to ask if they were planning to import or license the Crescent Moon stuff and while 4-Ground haven't got back to me yet, Sarissa said they would be releasing something soon, perhaps in Q2 of this year. Whether that means they are making their own range or importing/licensing/reselling the Crescent Moon stuff remains to be seen.

Also, on the same note, the Wargames Illustrated article mentioned off the cuff that he used 'some standard rubber roads which are available from lots of places' and then neglected to mention any links. Anyone got some links to good suppliers? I have found a few but none look modern to me - they either look cobbled or too rustic? I want something modern and up-to-date.

Sadly I've never heard of rubber roads but it sounds a great idea. Maybe you could query the magazine about it?
