So a while back i picked up the starter box for the Circle of Orboros and last week actually had the time to put it together. im still fairly new to painting I've been doing it here and there on and off for like 3-4 years but ive been now seriously sitting down and putting more time into it. Finally found a shop in town i like and have been buying more from them. But anyway i ran into a snag while painting these guys. now i bought the p3 starter paint set for Orboros as a basis to try out there line picked up the troll blood one as well got a nice deal on them. I primed white and started with a based coat of beast hide. my snag is i never painted fur and such before on humanoids i dont really know what to follow up after that for a highlight.

A trick I use on models with fur is to go over the fur with a dark brown and then dry brush lightly with a lighter color of brown. It is a simple technique that has always produced a great outcome for me.

Usually I will do the whole model in the darker brown as well before doing the more fleshy spots too. It makes it a nice transition and keeps me from having to continuously go back and touch up color.

I would sign this contract but I already ate the potato

Thats looking great! Glad I could help.

If you want, add a quick brown or black wash to the model will make all the high points really stand out and add great depth and shade to the model, but as is it looks really good mate, cant wait to see the rest of the army

Doctor Faust just put up a tutorial on painting fur. It might be worth a look.

Putting a thinned Sepia ink over the browns would add some great depth to the model.
