Brookhurst Hobbies is having another big Bring and Buy event on Saturday, May14th, from noon to 3pm. Plenty of Dakka members showed up at the last two events, so come on down and meet some of us while scoring some amazing deals on used minis.

Do we need to sign up in advance or anything?

I think I might actually be able to do this one! If so I promise to bring a truly random assortment of stuff, and will attempt to pilfer Bob out of as much plastics as I possibly can!

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Illness kept me away from the last one but I am hoping to make it there in May!

How well do painted miniatures/painted armies do at these events? I have some armies that are gathering dust and it would be great to physically hand them over to someone rather than have to pack and ship the models.

Argh. Why do these always get scheduled for when I have other things going on? I have to do scholarship interviews, which will take the whole day. I really wish I could go, too.

Yeah, you have to call them if you want a table. They also have flyers with info in the store but nothing on their website, so it probably won't be booked up.

My wife's condition on my attendance is that I bring home less than I headed out with. Challenge accepted.

What kinds of plastics are you interested in? If I know in advance, I can delve deeply into the specific chasm of shame likely to hold those minis.

It depends. Sometimes they go well. Other times, not so much. Someone brought a ton of painted Tomb Kings last time, and they were sold out by the time I finally caved and asked to buy the necrosphinx. JAHJoshua was there last time, but I don't know if he sold anything.

"No, honey I swear I didn't break any rules! See? I left with forty of those little space gremlins, and came back with only one robot. Isn't it cool? Yeah, it is pretty big. Its called a Warhound. Nah, don't worry about how much it cost. The point is I am pairing down the collection. Because I love you."

Good luck!

Cool, thanks for the info. Seems like it wouldn't hurt to bring a few army cases down and see if there are any bites.

JAH, are you in the area in May?

I'm thinking I'll try bringing some painted Hordes stuff and whatever I can't hock on eBay before that weekend.

Is there a preference for painted? Primed? Bare metal? Built? Unbuilt?

I think Catharsix did really well with bits. 80% of the goods last time were boxed, unassembled or unpainted, but that included a lot of scale models and board games. Bring what you want to sell.

Oooh, I can bring board games?

My wife will be particularly happy to hear that.

If only I could get Barzam to shirk from his duties to tag along with me.

Bob- do you happen to have the number handy for getting a table? I'll try to give them a call and get a spot.

Yeah, bring board games, clix, Magic, Gundams, whatever. Anything you want to sell for store credit.

I don't have the flyer, but the store's number is 714 636-3580.

Literally out of town for this one. :/ Which sucks, cause I missed the last one too due to other things.

Are there any particular plastics you guys are interested in? Knowing what to bring will help me focus my excavation into the closet of mystery.

Also, Highlord Tamburlaine, have you seen the Mantic Salamanders plastics? If not, I can bring some by, although they won't be for sale.

There may also be a Glorlon.

Heh, I got a whole Mega Army Deal for the Forces of Nature. Clipped a few pieces, and promptly shelved the entire project as I've got enough goodies piling up. Haven't decided how I want to paint my Salamanders yet.

I'm looking for Tau and Empire bits mostly. Maybe random Chaos parts? I probably won't know until the moment strikes me.

I really want to hear your thoughts on Mantic's new plastics, but this may not be the thread for it. I'll realistically never paint mine, but I imagine them as Gorn Green or red with black and yellow markings a la the Fire Lizards from the Serendipity book Kiyomi.

What era of Empire are you looking for? Are you looking for whole infantry or just bits?

So the event came and went, and I wanted to recap on some of the highlights for those who couldn't be there. I saw Highlord Tamburlaine and JahJoshua there. CatharsixCatharsix made an appearance with his bits-sistant. Lots of familiar faces from last time showed up. I sold 180$ worth of old minis and scored some sweet deals from Highlord and a couple others. hope you all had as much fun as I did.

It was fun. I even managed to lug a bunch of random stuff with minimal breakage- only a Convergence warcaster lost an arm. My obnoxious Forgeworld Skaven warlord on his gross looking rat mount managed to make it through unscathed, considering how many times I'd broken it myself...

But it's always fun to put real people matched up with their online persona.

Certainly met some interesting characters there. Yup.

I made out a tad bit better than Bob, no thanks to a Dakka lurker who picked up a fair amount of my painted stuff and board games! Thanks stranger! You bought me Deathwatch Overkill and the new Warhammer Quest game!

Hopefully I can drag Barzam along next time if he doesn't have lame obligations...
