So, the pre-orders are up and we know what's going to be in them so how do you experienced players think they are shaping up. I'm looking at getting into Cygnar or Khador but I'm waiting for the Mk3 launch to do so. Basically, looking at the contents of the Battlegroup boxes (even though we're not sure what Mk3 will be like) what do you think they'll be like as a starting point for the game.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

I like most of them and am just waiting to see if I'll want duplicates of the beasts/jacks I already have before buying any.

Given that we have no idea what the rules changes are for most of the contents.... who knows? We also know basically nothing about the new casters.

It should be pointed out that new 2player battle boxes have been sighted as well, with Cryx vs Cygnar and Trolls vs Skorne.

The exact contents aren't known yet, but those could also affect which box you decide to go for.

We actually have that info now:

Still, as I was saying, we know very little about most of the new edition's revisions to model rules, so it's basically impossible to judge how good something will be from a gameplay perspective.

It's easy for me. My two main factions are Cryx and Cygnar so I'll probably get the 2 player box to get the new casters. And I actually have plans for all the Cygnar jacks. Not sure about the cryx ones. They'll probably become terrain and/or modding bits. The troops I will either use, mod or sell/donate to a friend to try to get them to play.

But if the price is similar to the past it won't be that much more for the 2 player box so the extra stuff is worth it.

And down the road at some point I'll probably pick up the hordes 2 player box to paint up and then use to try to lure other friends into playing.

I am definitely going to get the Cryxian box set. I really need some other Helljacks besides my Seether and the new caster looks interesting.

I might also go for the Cygnar set - I have been interested in starting them for some time now and after my Khador battlegroup saw me lumped with an unexpected Coleman Stryker in the place of Sorscha I now have a reason too play them - once I get the stat card of course!

As a new guy myself I am wondering if i should wait another month to buy anything or will i be able to buy something now and use it when the new edition is released. I really want to start playing and getting my army ready but i do not want it to be wasted time and/or money.

I'll definitely get the new Cryxian box with a new caster in there.
My Cyriss army is rather complete. It will stay as it is.

Unfortunately, it's probably best to wait a month. At this point, we just have no idea what's what.

The big issue I see is if you buy anything now, you'll still need to buy the new cards in a month.

That said, if you find a really cheap deal on anything then go for it. I'm guessing the decks will be $10-20, so if you can save that much money or more on one model then it might still be OK. But you also never know if something you buy will be good or will be something you may not ever use. No matter how good they are at balancing there are always a few flops.

OTOH, if you are like me and like to paint and collect as many factions units/models as possible then it certainly can't hurt. But it is less than 3 weeks away, so not long to hold out.

It might be worth holding off for the Two Player Warmachine set.

It is the new Cryx and Cygnar boxes plus a unit of Storm guard and Bane Warriors plus mini rulebook, tokens, etc.

We don't know the price yet but if you are getting Cygnar and Cryx it will probably net you two ten man infantry units for only a few dollars more.

Cryx... And Cygnar Thank you Souleater! The Banes would be a welcome addition to my current Cryx and the Cygnar army sounds amazing!
