Hi all,

I've been working on my Bretonnian list. After a few test games they felt really lack luster, and/or to expensive for their capabilities.

As such I think I may have found something that is fluffy, but could still work on the tabletop. Let me know what you think.

Louencouer
Fey Enchantress
Paladin Standard Bearer
Damsel of the Lady
40 Knights of the Realm

100 Pool points under SCGT.

Using everything in conjunction at a *maximum potential can create a lovely charging deathstar.

Under this scenario, assuming all are in range to attack and have charged. Inclusive of these hero abilities/spells:

FE: If that unit is Nobility, you can add 2 to all these hit rolls instead.
FE: Mystic Shield
Aura of the Lady: In your hero phase, select the Damsel or a Free People model within 6"" of her; that model heals one wound. Supreme Aura of the Lady: In your hero phase, select the Fay Enchantress or a Free People model within 6"" of her; that model heals D3 wounds."
LL: Do not take battleshock
DoTL: If successfully cast on a 5, within 16" whenever , when that unit suffers a wound or mortal wound. Add 1 to that roll if the unit is Nobility. On a 6 or more, that wound is ignored.

So that's...

40 Knights (1 Gallant) 81 attacks @ 2 Damage, no rend, 2+/3+ to hit and wound. Saves of 2+/5+
40 Chargers 80 attacks @ 1 Damage, no rend, 2+/4+ to hit and wound.

Failed Attacks Successful Attacks Succesful Wounds Enemy Save Rolls (*4+) Potential Damage Output
14 68 45 23 45
13 67 33 17 17
Sub-Totals:27 134 78 39 62

I would then retreat in subsequent rounds with a 10" retreat move, and re-charge to maintain the bonus'. Scenario dependent. But if I win priority it might be more beneficial for me to do so.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

unless your enemy is also doing a huge block of troops, you will be better off with 2 units of 20.
Also don't overlook the value of questing knights.

retreat and charge again does not work well without special unit rules.

ie unlikely to work

Also if you are not capped on character models, I would add some more bretonnian lords and drop some knights. A bretonnian army should have lots of characters.

A token unit of peasant archers, even if ineffective, would add flavor.

We have a Bret player in our group. Now, we don't use SCGT, but the basics should be the same anyway. He has had alot of success with two trebuchets (I hate them!) to snipe monsters/characters or annihilate large units (2 automatic hits!). He also has plenty of Knights of the Realm backed up by Fey Enchantress and Damsels to provide better saves and hit bonuses.

I've also been on the receiving end of a volley from the archers - they take down monsters and heroes with their extreme once-per-game firepower.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I understand what you're saying and will take your points on board.

Perhaps in normal AoS you can get away with it more as there are no point systems restricting me... say from taking Grail Knights over the Knights of the Realm.

Will keep on play testing. I need to get them all based up first! Long way to go but here's my concept so far:
