These may sound like stupid q's, but I've only played twice, and three months apart at that. So:

Piling In: Do both players pile in at the same time (like 40K), or only the player whose turn it is?

Save Rolls: If I make 5 successful wound rolls with a weapon that does 2 damage, does my opponent make 5 save rolls, or 10?

Thanks, and bear with me while I learn.

You pile in when you activate the unit in the combat phase.
You save wounds before damage is taken. so you would make 5 save rolls. Note: This means that if you fail 5 saves, you take 10 wounds, which can kill 10 1 wound models. In other words, damage can "overflow".

I'm on a podcast about (video) game design:

And I also stream tabletop painting/playing Mon&Thurs 8PM EST

And make YouTube videos for that sometimes!

Not true. You take save rolls after damage multipliers. In the case at hand 5 attacks with damage 2 would result in 10 save rolls given that all hit and wound ofcourse.

No, Rihgu is right. Determine Damage is step 4 and comes after Save Throws (step 3). If you get shot by a cannon ball (D6 Damage) the unit takes one save throw and suffers D6 wounds if it fails.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

My apologies, I was looking at this section of the faq at the time :
Q: When a model/unit makes a save to ignore a wound, do you make it before or after the wound multiplier?
A: After.
The rules confirm yours and Righu's answers.

No worries! That part of the FAQ is very interesting though! So a standard save roll comes before damage and any special ability comes after?

Yep, the abilities makes the taken damage go away, so they come into effect after the damage has been done. The save on the other hand, is there to prevent the damage before it happens.

Want to play a balanced Age of Sigmar?

The Age of Sigmar Project Points Cost!
