Howdy! Kinda new to Warhammer and new to Space Marines. I've been playing orks for a while and I decided to start and Ultra-Smurfs army. So I was hoping to get some feedback on this list, all I ask is that to leave the Captain the way he is, my brother created him for my b-day and is a favorite in our Deathwatch game. Thanks!

Imho, outside of the Captain (I was just about to say change him into a melee beatstick like taking PF and Storm shield, I saw your request to keep him) consider replace the Missile launcher into plasma gun, missile launchers are ok for the squads sitting at the back, not for those loaded in Droppod. Meanwhile change one or two squad from plasma into melta weaponry to bust open tanks your opponent might possibly take. Also, try take a few meltabomb on those sarges, with the new FAQ, this is the only possible threat your Tac squad could have in combat with MC or vehicles.
Plasma pistol and Power fist is bad combo on Assault Marine Sarge, because you only have ONE attack base and two on the charge. How about proxy it as Plasma pistol and Power Axe, that you could have 3 attacks base, and save some points for you

Personally lose the terminators and the devastators.
Also you are setting up for an alpha strike so heavy weapons in the drop pods kind of suck. So switch them out for plasma guns and to follow your theme go plasma pistol and a melta bomb on the sergeants so that is 135 for each tactical squad. You also might want to go with one tactical with meltgun and combimelta so you can take out a pesky tank,

A dreadnought with MM and heavy flamer in another drop pod in place of the devastators for 150.

Then either replace the termies with a 5 man sternguard in drop pod for 145.

Finally i like the look of an eviserator on an assault marine so make him a vet sergeant with an eviserator and lose the plasma pistol.

That gives you 5 drop pods and saves you 95 points to spend. You lack anti-hoard so perhaps 2 flamers on the assault squad and if you can live with it add a jump pack to your captain. That leaves you with 70 points so a couple of options would be
a libarian lvl 1.
5 scouts with camo cloaks either 5 sniper rifles or 4 bolters and a heavy bolter
Some deathwind launchers on some of the drop pods
Upgrade the dread nought to an ironclad/
Some combi weapons on the sternguard.
Add some more assault marines or give them all melta bombs.

Welcome to Dakka and the Ultramarines.

In general, you are going to be better off with special weapons rather then heavies in tac squads. They want to be on the move, grabbing objectives. A matching combi on the sarge is often a good use of points.

One of the perks of drop pods is putting the right one next to the right target, it pays to specialize. While plasma is a good all around answer, some things still need melta.

Assault terminators on foot can have problems getting to the target, and deepstriking leaves them exposed for a turn. I only field mine in LR these days. Tactical terminators can be fun in a casual game as a replacement, and work better then the assaults without support. For your list I’d replace them with a command squad. That would let you qualify as a battle demi-co. Dreadnought would work as well. Ironclad in a pod fills a similar role to the termis in your list. Drop down, disrupt, and it not dealt with, blender.

I field my assault marines 5 men, 2 flamers, and a vet sarge with a power weapon (packs or pod depending on the list). I’d avoid anything that makes you strike at I1 unless you have someone else to accept the challenge. IMHO powerfists are too expensive for a 1W model, and plasma pistols are too expensive for anyone.

Devs are fine. I’d like to see them 4xLC, but models available and points can get in the way of that.

The Power Axe on the Assault Squad is no good unless you're going to run a Independent Character with a Jump Pack and a weapon that is not Unwieldy in the Squad (e.g. A Captain with a Power Sword) .

As DAaddict said: Look at a Power Sword or Power Maul instead of the Power Axe.
