So, I just won a tournament and received $120 of store credit. I'm looking to expand my IG army which consists of
100 troops
2 chimera
2 battle tanks
Commander pask
1 heavy weapon squad
Company command squad

I was thinking maybe the start collecting Skitarii? Or some admech? I really don't know. What do you guys think? Open to any suggestions.

I would consider allying an Inquisitor detachment. They have some fairly handy tricks which they can bring to the party.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

Inquisitors are pretty cool. Would it be too fluff breaking to have some guys summoning daemons? Lol

Not if he is a Radical Inquisitor. Been documented before e.g. use Chaos against itself, etc.

I agree with inquisitors. They bring cheap access to psykers, stubborn, grenades, and some good assault units.

An inquisitor in a blob squad keeps them fighting at leadership 10 with stubborn. Great for holding an objective. It also gives access to servo skulls to prevent scout and infiltrate while making your template weapons more accurate.

Their "troops" (because everything is an elite slot) are basic guardsmen that are super flexible with squad creation. They can have a psyker for the cost of two melta bombs. And they can take pretty much everything a space marine can have except grav.

I include 3 squads with a psyker and 3 plasma guns in each squad. Then take an inquisitor with power armor and psyker lvl 1 and 3 servo skulls. That is only a couple hundred points all together and really expands the power of a guard list

No, I won with Necrons. My IG army is in its infancy, and I thought this is the perfect time to help buff up a second army. I'm fairly new to warhammer.

Thanks for the input, I'll probably follow through with this idea,. This will only take a small Portion of the winning money though. Any other ideas to buff it up?

I do have all the chaos from the dark vengeance set too. Maybe a few additions could bring about a daemonkin army.

AM is infinitely better than inq at summoning daemons with the Psykana formation (which basically screams SUMMON DAEMONS WITH ME) so if that's what you want to do id advise against it. Nothing wrong with Coteaz or Krazypantsoff added to a guard force though.

If it were me I would get a manticore and Wyvern to create an Emp Wrath battery. It's probably the best self-contained formation the IG can bring now.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

That's kind of what I've seen fielded with tank commanders. you usually run that formation with a gun line though, right? And do you take the wyrven just because they're much cheaper points wise?

I take the wyvern because a commander with Volkovs Cane can only issue 2 orders. So I want Ignore Cover/Tank Hunter on my Basilisk and manticore and the wyvern can just be a wyvern that takes up no HS slot.

Okay. Thanks for the advice. I Haven't actually played imperial guard before, but I've been slowly collecting models that I like, I hope they're as fun to play as they are to collect! Hah

I would suggest wyverns as well, they bring a lot of firepower for the points.

I think I'm pretty much sold on running an Emperors Wrath Artillery with manticore, basilisk and wyrven. That'll soak up all of the winnings plus some.

Does anybody actively run the Psykana Division? If so, do you proxy models for them? $15 for 3 when you need 15 plus a primaris seems ridiculously expensive. Unless there's a package deal I'm missing.

Some terrain for your table.
It's looking a little sad.

We've got a guy that's joined our gaming group that likes to make terrain, so it's not so barren anymore. Still sad, but better.

I use FW renegade guard with renegade taskmasters as the commissars behind a big carved chaos symbol I use as a VSG. But that's because I use the Psykana purely as a daemon factory.

I knoooooow

I'm working to try and fix that.
My first army is necrons, and I have to say they're pulling their weight. With this bump the necrons have actually grown the imperium!

In all honesty, I can't wait to field enough units of guard to drown my opponents in blood. When I have to start units in reserve because my deployment can't handle them all... that's when I'll know I've made it.

I agree with the other's. Get Inquisition. If I ever manage to complete my ork horde and Da Looted City I intend to make a Guard army backed by the Ordo Xenos and their special elite mehreens they can call upon for help.
