There's a saying in poker that you only remember your bad beats. It doesn't matter how many hands you win, at the end of the tournament you'll end up telling your friends about how some guy beat your pocked Aces with a 7/2. Maybe it's human nature, but its a disservice to our community to only talk about the negatives because I believe we have way more positive encounters than negative ones.

This past month I experienced a handful of awesome encounters from different companies, big and small, as well as some remarkable random acts of kindness from other wargamers. I wrote an article about it because I wanted to remind myself that whenever some drama pops up (and it will) that we are still apart of a great community. Hopefully this feel-good-rant will remind some of you about some awesome encounters you've all experienced.

In my experience war gamers are by and large, an affable and friendly bunch. We freely giveth, and freelyeth receiveth!

I also think most war gamers are able to look look beyond people's foibles and quirks and see the person underneath. We're a nice bundle of peeps, we really are!

Obviously WAAC TFG's excepted...

Nice Post. I've also found wargamers to be quite generous.

In our club we've helped each other in many ways with figs, painting, printing, breaking up bulk purchases, and just giving stuff away to each other. We've probably saved hundreds of bucks this way.

I have had freebies from other players and given plenty away to those who wanted to start playing.

Gamers are a pretty good group in general, we want to have some laughs and roll some dice. I like it because it is a low stress island in my life.

Unfortunately there are some that make it about themselves and cause drama. To date in the six years that our club has been meeting we have had to ask two gentlemen to recuse themselves from attending our events. We hated to do it, but they were causing drama in a space where no one wanted drama.

Two guys, six years. Not too bad, says a lot of good about the rest of our members I think.

Armies: Space Marines, IG, Tyranids, Eldar, Necrons, Orks, Dark Eldar.

when i started out people gave me all kinds of deals on mods and supplies (I didnt realize how insanely good they were until later) and tons of free advice/beer.

I try to pass that on whenever I can for other players. Im never able to be quite as generous as them due to financial reasons but it feels good to give a new guy a couple of pots of paint I had spare or some extra special weapons i had lying around
