I've recently purchased a Start Collecting: Greenskins box for my son. It's going to be his first WH army of any kind, so I'm pretty excited to help him put it together and paint it. He'll be playing against me using mainly a Bloodbound army, although I have the Stormcast army from the starter set as well. I was wondering though, if I was to purchase more models for him, what are some decent ways to expand the Greenskin tide? I thought maybe just buying another Start Collecting box wouldn't be a bad idea, or maybe a box of Ironjaws to give him some elite units to play with. What are some other Destruction units that are worth looking into?

Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks for you time, guys.

I'd say that some Ironjaw Brutes and a Giant would provide some diverse, nice, fun, and good units for the Orruks.

Ogres make a nice addition to a Destruction army too. They're mean offensively yet can also take some punishment as well. Specifically Ironguts and a Scrap launcher/Leadbelchers.

As mentioned previously Ironjaw Brutes would be great. If you want a monster, I think that a mangler squig would be a good choice. Has a crazy amount of damage output and even in death can bring down guys with him. Last game I was on a team game, the mangler squig just flat out went full Pac Man and ate up my opponent's nine black knights in combat (they have 2 wounds each!).

Oh man... That Mangler Squid model has to be one of my favorite WH models to date. I'll have to buy one just to put it together. And the rules look great also.

So far, this is what I'll (emphasis on I'll) have...

1 - Grot Shaman
20- Grots

1 - Mangler Squig

1 - Savage Orruk Shaman
20- Savage Orruks

1 - Orruk Great Shaman
2 - Orruk Warboss
2 - Orruk Warboss on Boar
2 - Orruk Boar Chariot
10 - Orruk Boarboys
20- Orruks

I think that's a damn good start for now. I had to get the Grots/Savage Orruks because there was a deal on eBay for them for $40 (40 models for $40 is probably the best deal I've ever seen on eBay). And I forgot that I already had a Grot Shaman that got sent to me by GW by accident a while back.

Thanks for the advice so far guys. There has been a bit of an update to the birthday situation very recently. I let him check out all the start collecting boxes to see if I had picked the right one, and he picked the Seraphon box... So I'm the proud new owner of a Destruction army! I'd say I was disappointed that I didn't peg what I thought he'd like from the get, but I get another AoS army out of the deal, so I can't be too sad.
