Do you guys think we may finally see Blood Raven rules or models? Maybe as a supplement or FW PDF. We've already had official confirmation of the chapter via posters, novels, Space Marine game and Deathwatch Overkill Librarian. They must surely know they are sitting on a cash cow for this and releasing a Gabriel Angelos or one of the Sergeants in conjunction with DoW3 would surely have sales. Thoughts?

at most we might see chapter tactics in a white dwarf but I'd not hold my breath. GW doesn't seem all that intreasted in cross promoting.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

I could see GW maybe releasing Blood Raven chapter tactics and at most an upgrade sprue or transfer sheet for them but it would be nothing more than that (and that is being extremely optimistic). Personally I think it would behoove them to promote the Blood Ravens as it would make a great way to bring players of the game into the hobby. Even if it is just somebody wanting to paint up some models for their desk/shelf. Then again this is the same company that seems resistant to selling things like T shirts and when they do have partners producing this stuff they don't actively promote it.

Well Forge World recently had a transfer sheet for Blood Ravens and it was only taken down in the last 4 months. I know because I was looking at it in early February and considering buying it before it hiked anymore, as I already had a nearly full sheet. They pulled it, possibly to allow GW main to produce a new one for DoW3? Obviously FW stuff doesn't sell in quantities like GW Main, but if they pulled all the non-selling stuff they'd have to take down all the non-legion transfer sheets and brass.

As for t-shirts I think that's because there is a logistics and marketing conflict. The T-shirt features a design so its property of GW, but is produced by X company (say Nike for simplicity), so is it a Nike T-shirt with a GW design or a GW T-shirt built by Nike? And what prices would then be charged to make it profitable for both companies? A video game is a much safer investment for a Games company, all they have to do is let the developer take a small chunk and slap their logo on.

It is a possibility, we only just recently got a Blood Raven model with rules in the Deathwatch game. Agree with the comment about just a chapter tactic though, I doubt we will see a full blown supplement.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

GW is so uninterested in cross platform marketing that they queued up a AAA licensed game for one of their stagnating products, and just before it released and broke sales records for that relatively popular game series, they blew up the entire canonical universe and changed all the names of all the characters from the game so nobody could purchase them.

So I don't expect they will. If anything's likely to destroy the 40k universe and start the game from scratch, its the opportunity for GW to make lots of money cross promoting the upcoming video game.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Blood Ravens exist because Relic didn't want to step on GW's toes in regards to fluff and so on. I'd love it if they did release some Blood Ravens goodies though; all GW's ever really given them are an Index Astartes article back in the day and a model in the Deathwatch boardgame.

The earlier suggestion of Chapter Tactics in a White Dwarf actually seems like something they'd do though.

Well, my buddy who works for Sega has hinted at some form of cross-promotion, but he didn't elaborate (he was probably already violating company policy by even saying that much). My guess is a WD mini-dex.

GW isn't very smart about this kind of thing (they just missed out on the opportunity of the century with WHFB and Total War) so I would not get my hopes up much.

I hope not (I don't have any vested interest in current GW 40K) simply because Space Marines are already beaten like a certain horse into certain glue.

We need another Space Marine chapter with special rules like we need a collective kick to the jimmies.

God I hope not. If we get additional codices for already existing armies, I hope we get Tyranids strains, Ork klans, subfactions of Chaos like Lost and the Damned, and so on, not yet another loyalist faction. Something with at least the possibility of being fresh and interesting, not just another rehashed old hash.

This thread has me wondering what blood raven chapter tactics could be. I would expect something revolving around their librarians and strategic nature. Perhaps a scions of the forge esque rule where they can take a librarian for every non librarian HQ choice. Perhaps a +1 to seize the initiative or something. Re roll 1st turn roll?

I'll amend my previous statement. If GW want to release two independent characters or Forgeworld release some shoulder pads and they do a formation/chapter tactics in a White Dwarf? Go nuts.

But devoting actual effort/time to creating yet another (yawn) Space Marine chapter would be a slap in the face to players of the game.

I'd imagine their CT being something like this:

Voice of Boreale

At the start of each enemy turn roll a D6. If the result is 7 or less then every model in their army is removed from the game with no saves allowed as they laughed themselves to death upon hearing Boreales speech impediment.

Teh Emprah's Fureh

All units with Chapter Tactics (Blood Ravens) have the special rules rage, furious charge and smash and add one to their attacks statistic for every melee weapon in their army.

Steehl Rehn

All units with Chapter Tactics (Blood Ravens) who deploy via drop pods can fire all weapons with double the number of shots as normal on the turn they disembark. If a model is within 12" of a drop pod when it lands it suffers a S-D AP-1 hit when the model arrives.

Seems pretty balanced amirite?

Ultra-Ultramarines are a great idea.

Most likely, that was the conclusion I came to. In my fandex for them they get +1 to seize the initiative, but if a librarian is your warlord up to 3 units may redeploy hiding the Scouts USR. Psychic Premonition and all. The Librarius Conclave formation fits their fluff pretty well too for rules already there.

Gw do seem to have pulled their finger out in recent times.
The new paint and play sets and getting product into more mainstream stores is a step in the right direction.
So fingers crossed.
That said we didn't see anything for Warhammer Total War although most of those characters had existing models.
It wouldn't have taken much for a quick rebox on some of them though.

Probably wishful thinking, but one of the themed starter boxes like Burning Dawn for Tau or Santus Reach, set around a grand Blood Raven battle of some sorts would be really cool to see (with either Orks, chaos, Eldar or Nids as the opponent)

Unlikely, but we can hope. Right?

I would love to see a White Dwarf article that is the Blood Ravens Chapter Tactics, maybe a formation or two, and a Special Character or two, probably Gabriel Angelos and one of the other characters from DoW like Tarkus. I would love that. Maybe I would make use of the extra Blood Ravens shoulder pauldron I have.

Once the Mantis Warriors are updated, you can use those for CT. Space Marines are very aggressive and up close in DoW, and they gain benefits for Librarians.

Of course we would have to wait for the update. I just say that the Librarians get a free roll on Divination, and remove the Bulky clause from the first part of the CT. Nobody likes my suggestions though enough to use them haha!
