New to Orks and looking for advice on a list I'm working on for a local tourney that only allows cads and cad like detachments like the ork horde. No double cads either, also your allowed up to 1 forge world unit. So here's what I'm currently working towards building let know what I should change to improve the competitiveness of the army, thanks in advance.

Looks like a fun list. I'm a fan of zhardsnark because a pk that strikes at init 4 is awesome. Pain boys are an obvious good choice. I have a some suggestions at first glance.

1. From personal experience I would use the koptas in either a 5 man unit or as 3 seperate single units in either case with TL rokkits. They have low ld 7 and run easily and cover big distances when they do making it hard to rally before they run off the table.

2. The tankbustas are good but I've had better luck with them as small 5 man suicide squads. They don't love long especially since Trukks can blow up fairly easily. I feel taking big squads like that makes them a bigger target. Lower the squads sizes and take another mob of Lootas for heavy support fire.

3. I'm a huge fan of mega nobz. I love them in trukks for a "MANZ missle". Does lots of damage in my local meta. Who cares if they blow up my truck the MANZ get out shrug it off and are now in somebodies face wreaking havoc . I often either go fullbore towards the enemy turn one by going flat out and hope for a turn two assault or I use cover to protect the truck and counter assault the following turn if that so matches the particular style of that game .

4. I have had luck and my local meta-with a five-man deffkopta squad with war boss or Big mek on bike attached. I like to use the blitz bike because while taking a big Mek and attaching it to the the squad because its s6 ap3 tl and it increases their Ld a little. they work as a nice Mobile Anti vehicle platform with a decent threat range since their weapons are 24 inches assault twinlinked. They also have scout which could lead to some good turn one shooting . I love twin linked guns for orcs because they're ballistic skill 5 really doesn't matter at that point .

Overall I have found since coming back to 40K in seventh edition that orks really aren't that good in assault anymore but can really saturate the enemy with dice from DAkKA. especially with bikes and Lootas. Maybe you can make another bike squad by taking minimum tank Busta squads.

If you take zhardsnark as the warboss it allows bikes as troops choices. Check the forgeworld pdf data slate for him. Good luck!

If you can find the points, using your trukks as forgeworld gun wagons helps your tankbustas live much longer in larger squad sizes. perhaps cut down on deffkoptas. Gun wagons are heavy support so a double CAD might serve you better as well.

Mega
Armored
Nob
Z (pleural of above)

I would recommend min TB squads, single deff koptas and to use the scavenged points to get a Battlewagon, also dakkajets are nice. or more bikes or a unit or 2 of MANZ in truks.
Having 2 extra trukks flying at them with MANZ inside makes target priority harder. MANZ and TB both make threatening targets.
