I made this list to take the best advantage of Raven Guard Chapter Tactics; a big emphasis on Scouts and Assault Marines, no real heavy armor. Flesh over Steel.

The Scouts allow me to Infiltrate and Scout move a major portion of my army. I can combat squad them for target saturation, let half the squad sit in cover taking pot shots with the Missile Launchers, while the Combi-Flamers can Scout and infiltrate ahead and capture objectives.

Korvydae allows Assault Squads to be taken as troops. He takes the power Maul squad, the Maul's concussive rule giving Korvydae the chance to use his Hammer. The Chaplain Uses his concussive Crozius to do the same for the power Axe squad. These 2 are just as flexible, I can deep strike or start on the table and zip up into assault range.

The Devastators are my main source of AT, I gave the Sergeant a chainsword and storm bolter just in case someone gets too close. I plan on deploying them in cover and combat squaded, with 2 cannons in each squad.

The Land speeders are my mobile fire support. I made them separate units instead of a squadron to make them more maneuverable and prevent chains of penetrating hit from whipping them out in one go.

The Stalkers are my favorite source of anti air power. I love them because they're more flexible than most would think. If there are no skimmers or flyers around, I can use it to tank shock and ram targets, and since I'd snap shooting anyway, I can move as fast and far as I like. Being twin linked, the Icarus cannons might still take out some ground targets.

So, tell me what you guys think.

I am very very new to the Hobby, but I actually really dig this list. I really like the Scout feel of the Raven guard chapter. I was curious however and was wondering why you did not utilize the landspeeder storms? I was tinkering with a similar list at one time but considered replacing the Devastator Squad with a unit or two of legion of the Damned. I thought it would fit with the flow of The Shadow recruits like in the horus heresy novels, Nikona Shadowkyn. Being able to deep strike with a 3 + invulnerable save with a meltagun or multi melta could be really nice. Either way if you go with this list I would be very interested to know how it performs.

Hi there. thanks for the feedback.

I am a fan of the LSS (I have 2) but I just wanted them to be footsloggers. I do plan on knocking out a list using the Storms at some point.

I would like to see your version with the LotD. I like how they fit.

Which Horus Heresy novel has Shadowkyn?

Cool, fluffy list. I'd probably go without heavy weapons on the scouts though and the dev squad is allot of points, for 4 lascannon shots. You also lack the hitting power vs MC creatures, the lack of grav could hurt in that regard.

It pains me to say it, but if you could make the points up for a Grav Centurion squad of 3, in a drop pod, instead of the Devs, it would probably cover both bases.

I know, it pained me to read it. Grav Cents are hot right now and in my book, just a bit cheesy. But as long as I am playing Raven Guard, those are an absolute no go.

My lists will always be about the fluff.

Also, I wanted the ML for extra firepower options.

I use Raptors myself and don't run Grav cents for a similar reason, but it does create issues in the anti big stuff department.

A legion of the damned squad fulfils anti tank fairly well, 5 men, multi-melta, meltagun & combi melta. I really like them. The Devs just don't cut it vs allot of things :-(

I'd prefer to keep scouts mobile myself. You could use those freed up points to grab an inquisitor with servo skulls, who can stop people screwing up your own infiltrators.

I like LotD, but I really want the availability of AT firepower from turn one. I may drop the MLs. My plan for the scouts was to combat squad them to increase target density, keep half the squad moving and the other half fixed and firing.

I am woefully out of touch with the rules of other codexes and I'm not familiar with the Inquisition rules. I know that it's really popular to take Inquisitor allies these days but don't know what they do.

I might look into the LotD squad instead though. They would fit the feel of the list better.

OK how's this? I fee like it's a bit more mobile and aggressive.

I now have 2 Scouts squads in Storms for mobility and assault purposes. My AT is being taken care of by LotD with meltas (ignoring cover Meltas mind you hehehe). The Inquisitor and his retinue will go in the Drop pod and the servo skulls scattered around. Everything else is pretty much the same.
