I am back for some critiques on a new idea for a list. I was hoping to field a mono nurgle list, and wanted you guys to pick this apart and let me know how you think it would do in casual games against orks, blood angels, and khorne daemonkin. I build mostly for fluff themes, and really wanted to keep it Nurgle centric and I prefer close combat over static gun lines (I have my lads from Krieg for that play style).

Chaos Lord with Mark of Nurgle, Bike, Sigil of Corruption, Lightning Claw, Power Fist, Daemonheart, Horns of Slaughter, Meltabombs, Blight Grenades. 220pts

5 chaos spawn with Mark of nurgle. 180pts

Maulerfiend. 125 pts

I am not sure if the Lord is legal since he has equipment from the crimson Slaughter book. But he would ride with a spawn body guard to soak up wounds and hopefully lay waste to most enemies. The other two spawn groups flank the lord's retinue and screen the maulcer fiends advance. The two plague marine squads sit in metal boxes and fire melta at anything that gets close or moves up for midfield objectives later. It's very one dimensional, and I can see massed shooting bring a huge problem... but my gaming group doesn't use tau or eldar at all. I'm anxious to hear what advice you could offer and any tweaks or outright changes you have.

The FAQ is not official, so your Lord is legal - a T6 2+/4++ Lord with IWND is quite tough, also i would probably get rid of the Horns - PF already brings you S10, bikes have HoW anyway & 15 points for +1 attack on the charge.. meh. Give him a Gift of mutation instead maybe.

I find spawn a bit lackluster on their own. As such, I would swap out the third squad of spawn for a heldrake, or even a third squad of plague marines (probably the marines, since you are looking for a screen). Two squads of spawn will still give you plenty of board control.

I think the plague marines are only 175 points not 200.

You're right on the points. I think I was planning on adding a dozer blade and combi-melta with melta bombs on those two squads. So is the consensus to drop a unit of spawn for a third MSU plague marine squad or helldrake?

If you are focusing that much on melee I'd give your plague champions some power weapon. Spawns are okay as a tarpit, but aside from the fiends and the Lord there is little with actual killing power. On the other hand, I haven't played with maulerfiends so far, so they might be enough
