Note that I found it on Battlefront's forum.

The US 761st Tank Battalion is particularly worth noting from the list. It was a black unit that apparently had a pretty good reputation.

running amok, against the reality of defeat

Check your facts re:761st.

Most of the 263rd regiment folded when attacked by battlegroup Hansen.

It seems the units "trail" companies fought better than the "line" units.

I think you're confused.

The 263rd Infantry Regiment was part of the 66th Infantry Division. The 761st Independent Tank Battalion was part of the US 3rd Army, and does not appear to have been attached to the 66th Division.

Your confusion is likely because both units had the Black Panther nickname. But I haven't seen any evidence that they served together.

I may be mistaken. I have a book on the black units which fought in the campaign, and many units ran.

There were many brave black units.

I don't disagree that there were some black units that performed poorly. In fact, a while back, BF did a write up of a black infantry division in Italy that underperformed (can't remember the division number off the top of my head). But the little that I know about the 761st Armored Battalion is that it had a good reputation.

Everything I've read about the 761st stated that they were an excellent unit, especially considering the difficulties they faced. They recieved many commendations and fought very hard as part of Patton's army.

I'm sure there were other units that ran, many barely recieved any real training, especially infantry, but the 761st definitely wasn't one of them. Patton would've had their in a sling if they did.

I'm not sure who you could be mixing them up with, they're the only black tank unit of the time to my knowledge.

Definitely looking forward to seeing what they get. Always wanted to do an army based on them.

As I mentioned above, I think he was confusing the 761st Independent Tank Battalion (Black Panthers) with the 66th Infantry Division (Black Panthers).

IIRC, there were at least two other black independent tank battalions, though one of them might not have seen combat.
