Granted I know 40k stuff is expensive these days, but I was wondering what some of your more expensive purchases were for a single miniature, or group, or game, in relation to other things you collect. Like for me, I paid about $100 for an Epic Ork Gargant that had every weapon/head/body configuration that I wanted. I know that was pretty pricey but at the time I was so set on that config that I didn't want to risk losing it.

Ironically, not too long after, I was able to score 2 Gargants with different configurations for about $10 each on Buy It Now that I assume the seller made a mistake in listing, but went ahead with the sale anyway. So in the end it all worked out.

I also have paid a lot for games that were MIB, like still in the plastic, like Titan Legions. That was over $300.

I don't splurge like that very often at all, but when I find something I have to have, I am pretty impulsive.

What are yours?

I own a reaver Titan with a spare weapon arm.
After that, probably Cthulhu Wars Kickstarter, I went on that hard, and it was worth it for the play value.

It's all in perspective when you go to GW HQ and see three Warlord Titans on a table.

Heresy all FW resin army a couple years ago, before BaC. Single model I think was FW lord of war. The Bomegrinder giant was like $130 I think.

Chaos Warhound.

It's something that I've wanted ever since it came out (early 2000's I think) and finally got it last year.

I haven't used it in a game yet, but I don't regret it as it was the final piece I needed to make my 10,000pts Death Guard army.

I'm of light weight. Knight Warden. Was $130 for a single model I believe. I got the Knight game, but even though that was expensive, the value was stupid good.

Going almost all in on Kingdom Death Monster during the KS. We saved a lot of money, but it's still a fethload we ended up paying.

Single mini would probably have to be either Malcador tank I've got right now.

There is not this idea.

Buying Mice and Mystics (that counts, right?) at its regular price was a pretty big expenditure for me. Possibly the most expensive thing I bought, but not sure.

Generally, once the price of a hobby item hits three digits, I say no.

Hmmmm... bought a Void Shield Generator from the limitted release run second hand... still upset that GW is releasing a new plastic one for less than half of what I paid.

Otherwise, my skathach wraithknight would be the most expensive since there was around a 1.5 USD per GBP conversion rate on top of it's standard sterling price.

The most expensive infantry model is an OOP metal bonesinger.

Most I think I've spent on individual mini's was about £20, but they'd be for 54mm+ minis for painting. I've got a pile of IG tanks but I bought them years ago for probably not much more.

I've dropped hundreds on kickstarters though, but usually get a ton of mini's for them.

Fw bloodthirster I think. I put in an extra shift and walked home for two months saving on bus fare to buy that thing.

wow wish I could say that.

Bought retail: Marauder Destroyer, $300 or so. Beautiful model, don't regret buying it one bit.

Bought used: my collection of OOP FW models. Terrain, old vehicles, even a slowly growing collection of Epic models. The biggest single purchase in there would probably be $500ish for the complete set of Vraks trench terrain or $400ish for the Mars-pattern Shadowsword with the interior detail upgrade kit. As a whole collection I've spent more on OOP terrain models than many people spend on entire armies. And, again, don't regret it one bit.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

In one go, it would have to be a Matic Maria ceramic Leopard drop ship that was a limited release for Battletech back in the late 80's. I am still looking for the Union version that was also made.

The one I have is an artist proof that was sent to a higher up at FASA, so it has some cool pedigree to it.

Spent $500, and drove almost 200 miles to meet the person to pick it up in person. The thing is large, heavy, and ceramic, so I didn't want it shipped. It is "true scale" to Ral Partha/IWM's Battletech miniatures which makes it a pretty cool display piece.

Confrontation Dragon Titan. I think I paid about $140 for the mini, then another $100 for the paint job.

Completely worth it. By the time I (stole) got it at that price, Rackham was selling them for 300 Euros.

Actually I lie, I spent about £23ish on some Warlord tanks. I've spent a small fortune on the hobby but since most non-GW things aren't that expensive it's harder to keep track

Back when Apocalypse first released I bought a Thunderhawk when the Chicago Bunker carried FW. The exchange rate was a lot higher at that point and there was sales tax so it was just shy of $1,000 US. ($970 I think) It was a beast of a model and just too large and unwieldy for any sort of game play.

Somewhat related, but I bought a Fine Molds 1/72 scale Millennium Falcon model kit a few years ago. It had been out of print for a while but Fine Molds decided to do a limited run again so I only paid about $230 for it, which was a pretty good price. When it was out of print it was regularly going for between $400 and $500 on auction sites.

For miniatures, it would have to be the LE figures for Mechwarrior - I have them all up to Falcon's Revenge and the most expensive was either a Nova Cat Dragon or a Steel Wolves Mad Cat - both were over $100. (Conversely, I got my Imperial Knight, Armorcast Baneblade & Shadowsword each for less than that...)

For RPG's, it was H3 - Throne of Bloodstone. Bought it back in the 90's for over a $100 to complete my 2E collection. Years later, picked up an electronic copy for $4....

And don't get me started on my Dwarven forge - three sets of everything years before their kickstarters. Several thousand dollars worth of stuff, easily.

It never ends well

Hm, can't say I've ever spent a huge amount in one go. I got Alarielle recently for £60, matches with the Merwyrm I got from Forge world. Oh and I got Silver Tower for just below £70, so I think that's the single most expensive thing I got in a single time.

Probably the Millennium Falcon for X-Wing. I own more expensive GW miniatures, mostly TMC, but I've either got them as a gift or have bought them as part of a boxed set.

I've never really been big on buying expensive models. They're usually too big to display and too impractical for gaming. The most I would have spent on a single wargaming model was probably around $100AUD for a big Tyranid, the most I've spent on a single box was probably the most recent Space Hulk, I can't remember how much I paid but I think it was around $170AUD. The most I've spent on a single model outside of wargaming was a few weeks ago I bought a 1/32 Hawker Tempest for $150. The Tempest will have a wingspan of about 15" so I'm going to need to make a special space to display it, I don't really want anything bigger than that.

Kingdom Death and the expansions from the Kickstarter. To say it is expensive is an understatement.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

My Warhound and Smaug. Followed by the big resin dragon from Rackham and the OOP Forge World dragon.

Games? Probably the Kickstarter edition of Ogre. Especially because I'm unlikely to ever play the thing.

Bought an OOP FW Ramilies Star Fort for my BFG fleet... Not titan-priced, but certainly up there for what amounts to a small chunk of resin.

The kicker of course is that the sculpt is so bad, I had to break the model apart and re-seat all the pieces with putty to make the model fit correctly. It's still only half built atm while I slowly file down the last big section to get it to fit.

I'm exactly the same, I've absolutely no interest in anything that becomes an issue to store and transport, or where the physical limitations of table space make it impossible to use it properly.

If you count my zone mortalis table as a single model, then that would definitely take the prize for me. Them blast doors ain't cheap.

My Mantic Warpath Kickstarter clocked in at about 250$ worth of stuff, and that's the single biggest hobby purchase I've made at any point in time.
