Want to try Modern Naval Minitaure wargames but put off by overly complex and slow game systems.
Why not try Naval Command the new miniature wargame rules for modern naval battles with ships, submarines and aircraft. The rules are designed to be as fast play as possible while still retaining the "feel" of modern naval warfare.

An AAR would help sell it. <Wink, wink, nudge, nudge>

Thanks for sharing. I would love to here a bit more about the mechanics. For example, how does LOS work in the age of missiles?

As many of the missiles use by modern ships can fire further than the visual horizon, visual line of sight is no long as important.
Targets must be detected by other by vessels or airborne units which can then pass the positional information of the target to another vessel that can fire the missiles.
Not the best description but hope it answers your question.

Yes. LOS can be augmented by alternative viewing units. Therefore, maneuver and detection play a key roll prior to firing.
Is it possible to destroy an air unit before it can report your location for targeting?

In terms of destroying an air unit before it reports the position depends if they successfully detect your own ship first and are in range of AA weapon.
