Figured it's worth throwing this out, modeling options for Genestealer cults. I really like the Overkill models and the art we've been allowed to see but some variety is always good.

Macrocosm has a big line of not-Genestealer cults That's worth checking out.

And of course Frostgrave has multipart plastic fantasy cultists

If you need a heap of cultists/brood borthers the Chaos Cultists should work, the only real chaos bit is an occasional star, easy enough to clip off or hide. Or even keep since fluff-wise they will align with chaos.

I had an aborted project turning skaven plague monks into cultists which should also work.

Wargames Factory Greatcoats mix will with GW bitz. They even have a mutant head with a resperator and goggles.

I know you're looking for alternative Cultists for Genestealer Cult armies, but I thought I'd throw it out there that I honestly think that the new Cultists would do well for a Savlar Chem Dog army. I mean they've basically given us a new IG infantry option, with a hive-world theme to it.

If I had a dollar for every dollar I spent I'd have all my money back.

If you want a limo but don't have $50 for the resin one there's always diecast toys.

Commonly available in most toy shops or drug stores, or on Amazon. Looking for 1/38, 1/43 or so.

Pig Iron has various metal heads, including gas masks.

War Store has them in the US.

The old Wargames Factory greatcoats had resperator heads in plastic. I see Hoard o Bits has those.

Im going the opposite direction with mine! I am actually going to use guardsman models with the genestealer cult rules and have them be a stealth/light infantry ambush regiment. I love the look of the goliath and wanted to figure out how to get them to work via allies, when I realized I could just say its all guard to start with!

The conversion will be relatively simple

Neophytes= Guardsman
Acolytes= Sappers/Engineers
Metamorphs= Scions (ill be only equipping them with hand flamers)
Aberrants= Ogryns
Genestealers= CATACHAN JUNGLE FIGHTERS!!!
Magus= Primaris Psyker
Primus= Commander/Commisar
Iconward= Flag Guy/ Commisar

The only thing I havent figured a good switch so far is the Patriarch, Im thinking maybe some sort of juiced up Inquisitor or an Assassin.

What do you guys think?

Are those in production again? I've seen them out of stock everywhere for a while, after the deal with Warlord and all that...

Progress is like a herd of pigs: everybody is interested in the produced benefits, but nobody wants to deal with all the resulting gak.

I wish! I used those to make a ton of Skitarii out of the extra bits from the box, and then used lasgun arms to make knock off steel legion. Now its next to impossible to find them

It's a damn shame, those greatcoats weren't the most fantastic models out there but provided a nice base for conversions and the box was amazing for the price. I feel so lucky getting two boxes for my IG veterans just two years ago... I guess there are still no news on what Warlord have planned for them, and at this point it seems likely they'll just be forgotten.

Agreed! the only trace of them I can find anywhere is the crummy heavy weapon teams or someone is selling them for WAY too much, the conversions on those things were endless and they were dirt cheap

Rebel Minis horror line has some gems for your cult

http://www.rebelminis.com/

IIRC they are from a kickstarter game that Rebel bought up and repurposed much like they did with the old Starship Troopers game.

Daemonscape has some cool resin vehicles to fill in for the Goliath or Chimera. Pretty cheap too, must as around 10UKP.

And then there's this for 35UKP. I just wish there were better pics.

Northstar now carries the Copplestone range with a lot of good urban guerilla types in the Future Wars range. Perfect for desperate freedom fighters hiding in the sewer.

The models are a bit old and a bit small but really top quality.

The troopers are ace too,

Lots of great ideas here.

While rummaging through my model collection for possible additions to my GSC, ideas I had were:

Necromunda Redemptionists

Imagine purple robes with black tentacles painted on the bottom edge, instead of the usual flames

Necromunda Cawdor

Now we know why their faces are covered up.

Tallarn Desert Raiders

Head wraps covering their sinister Xenos infestation

Valhallan Ice Warriors

Freaky foreheads covered, and those coats could be painted as black leather. Plus I have a squad of them I'm not doing anything esle with

After reading this thread, I may finally have a use for my WGF Great coats and Frostgrave Cultists as well.

I like this idea. As soon as you mentioned it I thought of Gaunt's Ghosts. The Neophytes form the regular ghosts whereas the acolytes etc could represent irregulars like the Vervunhivers. Could use some converted Empire Flagellants to give them a real ragged appearance to explain their melee prowess etc.

I've been looking into doing something similar to create a "renegade guard" ambush group using GC rules. Basically melee chaos cultists for acolytes and converted Cadians for neophytes. Lets the army double up as Renegade Guard or Chaos cultists as required.

Alas Necromunda models are rare as hen's teeth these days and fetching $10 a model or more.

Because the old Pit Slaves would be great hybrids.
