I would like help or advice with expanding my current Ork collection. Note that I am not entirely new to the hobby but I still am relatively inexperienced.

Currently I have:

1x Warboss

5x Nobz

30x Boyz

10x Boyz

1x Trukk (originally a looted wagon that im now using as a trukk)

3x Deffkoptas

1x Dakkajet

5x Burnas

With upgrades that brings this list to approx 1000 points, but I want to expand further.

I have a second AoBR box of Orks that I intend to (at least partly) use: a bonus 3 deffkoptas, 20 boyz, 5 nobs and another warboss.

I will be using this to bring my squad of 3 deffkopas up to 5, and 5 nobs up to 10. Should I use the extra boyz to boost my squads to thirty boyz each (or maybe just a new squad of 20) OR should I take the time to convert these into Stormboyz? Also where should I go next: maybe Warbikes, Kommandos, 5 more Burnaz or something else entirely?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Welcome to dakka. I'm afraid I don't know a huge amount about orks. What I can tell you is that you either want to have large units with eavy armour on foot, or smaller units of 10-12 in trukks. Try to put a boss nob with power klaw in each unit of boys as well.

Welcome. I am a fellow ork player. I recently came back into 7th ed after a hiatus near the end of 5th Ed. I began playing an all biker ork speed freaks list and won my first tournament that I've ever been in rather painlessly. I ran this list and it has done well but if I don't run bikes I love mega armored nobz in trukks. The bikers are fast and put out a lot of strength 5 twin linked shots. Bikes also work well in maelstrom games due to their great speed. Deffkoptas fill a similar roll but with free options for heavier hitting weapons like rokkits and plasma weapon.
The meaga armored nobz in trukks are fast and hard hitting. And no big deal of your target shoots up your trukk. The meganobz will survive and charge into them. Good suicide squads, "MANZ" missiles we call them. 3 man manz missle with Mad Dok attached are deadly with rampage and fearless.

Meganobs (MANZ), Tankbustas, and Bikers (Boyz, not Nobz) are all excellent choices to expand. The Bully Boyz formation (3 unitz of 5 MANZ) is one of our strongest formations, granting you Fearless, Fear, and +1 WS. Deffkoptas are fun too, but most useful as objective grabbers and harassment units, occasionally useful for eating overwatch. Warbosses and Painboyz are solid HQ choices.

Well thanks everyone for the advice. I never really considered MANZ units until now.
