Pale Nomads of the XIXth.
Like most people I have a tendency to start projects and not follow them through, so this is going to help me complete my version of the Pale Nomads. I will aim to update this twice a week, there will probably be the same updates every so often on FB groups so I apologise if you start seeing double.
All comments and criticism is welcome.

My Pale Nomads are made up of mainly the Terran's from the 3rd company lead by Shade Captain Nithus and marines created from members of Corax’s rebellion on Deliverance that had outlived their use.
The Pale Nomads were sent to wander the fringes of the known galaxy with the standing orders to tread further and collect information on new systems. This open order or dismissal by Corax was taken by Nithus as an injustice towards himself and his men.
He vowed that every fallen marines name would be etched upon the walls of the raven spire, when they are recalled by Corax.

The Pale Nomads took the tactics they had perfected with the Luna Wolves to another level, using terminator armour to draw the attention of the enemy by seemingly rushing head on into the foe, while been supported by heavy weapon and supporting aircraft. Tactical squads would then be able to operate if already in position or be able to infiltrate and perform the given tasks. Then fall back and cut off retreat paths of the enemy and finish the battle.

The Pale nomads adopted the XIX and skull as their imagery keeping the old dark shoulder pads but adopting the dusty brown of the Asiatic Dust fields as their main colouring.
The tactical squads mainly use suppressed weaponry dulling the bark and removing the flash of the bolters and non-powered melee weapons.

I saw pale kings, princes and pale warriors too, death pale were they all
Quote from Remembrancer Asmiok

I'll Start with the basic colour scheme i've chosen for my nomads

And the 1st half of Squad Berrus

Squad Berrus is lead by Sgt Berrus
(He may loose the wings on the power pack as im not sure about them just yet)

His number 2 Marine Icaurx

I have also converted the Limited Edition of the Ultramarines Standard Bearer slightly, he will become Veteran Villius
(He may also loose the cape, I'm not really a fan of capes)

That's all for my 1st post i will keep you updated as this project progresses

The test color looks great .

I agree with no capes. Insert incredible s gif here of person being sucked into jet engine

As for the wings......if they were turned around it think they'd look better.

I really like the paint scheme and your builds look great. Question though, are the Pale Nomads some sort of Raven Guard unit or a home brew idea?

The pale nomads was a name given to the XIXth by the luna wolves, they were the marines of the raven guard before they found corax i think its all in HH3 book, but some people on the net say that they were the precurser to the Carcharodons

Nice Color scheme. Interested in what you will do with higher ranked figures with more detail.

I think the wings should be rotated 180 degrees so that they resemble hussar wings more. Look kinda unnatural right now.

Ok, so yesterday i finally received the last few bits to complete the first half of squad Berrus.

I will get better pictures later this week showing each from all angles, but here for you comments is the 1st half fully kitted out,

Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and in triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of the dot on scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner of the dot. How frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Their posturings, Their imagined self-importance, the delusion that they have some privileged position in the universe......then we arrive in darkness

Close up of Marine Rovys

Close up of Marine Viver

Close up of Marine Neves

Im currently working on a few lines of fluff for each marine i hope to do this with each model. I feel that this gives them more character to myself then it makes painting them more interesting.

So i have finally got round to writing the a few lines of fluff for my first marines so here we go;

Sgt Berrus

Sgt Berrus is a relatively young terran marine compared to some in the Nomads. Even as an initiate he was ear marked for great things he progressed quickly through his training and was awarded leadership of a squad after 50 terran years of service.
His tactical knowledge and quick thinking has placed his name in front of Shade Lord Mavius and 1st Captain Nithus on numerous occasions, with Captain Nithus eager to induct him into a terminator squad.

Marine Icaurx

Marine Icaurx is a veteran of many campaigns but his brash attitude has blocked his progression through the ranks. The Arcotype pistol he uses was a gift from Shade Lord Arkhas Fal after Icaurx led his fire team against an Ork postion under heavy fire and in doing so created a beach head for the XIXth.

Marine Rovys

Marine Rovys is one of the few marines from deliverance that was attached to Shade Lord Mavius’s Nomad Fleet. He was attached to Sgt Berrus squad to replace the previous squad sharpshooter; he has adopted the tactics of the Pale Nomads without complaint and unlike most other “Ravens” has not painted half his armour black in honour of Corax.

Marine Viver

Marine Viver is a marine from the stock of Terrans brought along on with the Pale Nomads, he has been part of Sgt Berrus squad since leaving the initiate ranks and is still getting used to been a fully fledge Marine.

Well there we go thats all i've got so far. hopefully by the end of the week i will of completed Marine Neves and at least started on Veteran Villius.
I have also ordered the bits for my Moritat so that should be a fun conversion.

So I have been asked a few times now for a group picture of the Nomads, so here we go

a quick picture of the 2 new models together. I am waiting out for a back story for the Moritat, and yes the Standard Bearer has changed. I really fell out of love with the limited edition model, it seemed like the model was slouching lol

I will get around to uploading the 4 pictures of each of the new models when i have a back story for them both.

Hi all, i apologise for not posting much last week just had a really busy week.

So I currently have a friend of mine helping with the fluff behind the Pale Nomads and he is currently working on some exciting stuff.
Until that has finished i will be holding off on the fluff behind the Marines themselves just to make sure it all ties in.

For now i will post what marines i have completed, as always Comments and Criticism are always welcome, and any advice for the marines or the army as a whole are welcome too.

Vet Eoniro - Moritat

Marine Neves of Squad Berrus, with the start of new squad and fire team designations.

Standard Bearer Vilias, I changed the model as i really didn't like the way the special edition model seemed to be slouching

1st Captain Nithus of the Pale Nomads Deliverers.

This is only a work in progress of Nithus at the moment I'm really unsure if i should keep Calas Typhus's left arm with what id use as a flame thrower or to change it for the volkite charger from the Praetor model.
As always Comments & Criticism are welcome

Why should I fear death? If I am, then death is not. If Death is, then I am not. Why should I fear that which can only exist when I do not?

So this weekend a friend of mine who is on here somewhere, has agreed to help with the backstory behind the Nomads and with the character history's too.
So this is what he has come up with so far. As always C&C welcome

I was there the day the Primarch cast us out to the stars. Outcasts, the Lost Sons, the Pale Nomads without home or Legion, when Nithius took us to the void to fight the Emperors foes in the way of our ancestors before Corax tainted our Legion with his morals. I am Vet Eoniro, Ash Blind of Pale Nomads, the Emperors hidden blade in the shadows and Way-finder of our tribe. And this neophyte is our tale.

Shade Captain Nithus of the Pale Nomads, 1st Captain of the Pale Nomads Deliverers.

I felt he was the obvious choice to lead the Pale Nomads. The model is one of my favourite from Forgeworld i love the scythe too i just didn't think it fit with the army. still not too sure about the sword so if any of you can think of a better option let me know.
Thanks

Yeah that could work i did steal the dagger from the Custodes pack and plan on possibly making use of the standard too, so the sword would tie in nicely

So last night i finished Squad Berrus minus the studded shoulder pads which i'm currently waiting for. So here for your approval is Squad Berrus

So Squad Berrus breaks down in to 2, 5 man fire teams Gamma and Epsilon.
Fire Team Gamma is lead by Sgt Berrus and Fire Team Epsilon is lead by Marine Icaurx

Fire Team Gamma

and

Fire Team Epsilon

As always i like to show each marine form different angles,

Marine Hrund

Marine Holotin

Marine Zherast

Marine Davil

Marine Kardeas

I'm not fully 1005 with Marine Kardeas at the moment so he may change in future or just be reposed.

Also here is a sneak peak of what is going to be my 2nd Tact Squad named Squad Atalus

OK so it happened the first change to the plan, Squad Atalus has been put on hold, the 5 models have now become a 5 man Vet Squad with Sgt Sicaneus in charge, only problem is i'm not sure which model will become Sgt Sicaneus, what i do know is one will be a marine that still has loyalties to the Raven Guard (he will be obvious from the pictures) i'm just not sure how to paint the Raven. So any ideas would be helpful as always.

Veteran Marine 1

Veteran Marine 2

Veteran Marine 3 "The Raven"

Veteran Marine 4

Veteran Marine 5

SOURCE : SERVO SKULL
PRIOITY : NONE
CLASSIFICATION : PERSONAL AUTHORISATION CODE REQUIRED
LOCATION : GALACTIC SOUTH - VIELD REGION

I have one clear memory of my childhood left....
I'm in a line with the other sons of the tribes. We are walking towards a column of transports, flanked by thunder warriors. I look to my left to see a landscape of war, nothing compared to what I have seen now. In the midst of all the dead I see the flag of my clan the flash of red on blue with our clan’s symbol emblazed in its centre. It is tattered and torn planted at an angel with bodies piled around it. It is a last stand of my elders. My father the standard bearer, must be amongst the dead, unrecognisable in the piles of dead. Then a screech and a mass blur as the carrion feeders dropped from the sky onto the dead. My heart sank as I watched….then nothing.
Countless battles later I stand here on the Infernus Class Battleship named the Osidax. This is the largest ship in our fleet, the XIX emblazoned on the hull is immaculate. To some it may be just a number. To our brothers in black it may just be a throwback to their savage past, but to me and the nomads it stands for more. It is the plains, it is our forefathers but most of all it stands for the Emperor. We are his avenging shadows, the bolter in the dark.
Our brothers in black look at us with such distain, they think us barbaric. Yet I can see the desire same desire burning inside them…hypocrites all. When they judge me and my brothers, for actions that once earned respect and honour from the Emperor. I cannot help but laugh.
I have watched them stalk the shadows and even utilise the Ash Blind. They may try rename it and disguise it as something else but they know the truth. They hold back they restrain themselves for fear of been us. We know what we are and we remain loyal, the lodges have been disbanded those that choose to follow the traitor are now gone.
I am Nithus Shade Captain of the XIXth, spearhead of the deliverers, father to host of forgotten sons, herald of the Pale Nomads.
