Just a quick one guys bought the new fow plastic tiger box set online so while waiting for them to arrive I pulled out some old fow waffen ss minis and Jesus do the casts look really bad. So does anyone know of any decent waffen minis,

Thinking I might be able to get away with using some of the panzer grenadier figs but won't give me enough smocks and such. Like I said the old cast are so bad that faces are missing on a lot of them under the helmets and generally suck.

Peter Pig? Lots of choice there, including greatcoats etc. TBH depending on what period you're going for smocks may not be needed anyway - Poland/France lots of them were just in the field greys, and Normandy onwards you have the dot suit for which you can use any German fig sculpted in std uniform. Having once spoken to a vet the kit was issued as 'camo uniform' and whether you got a smock or a tunic was dependant on what the quartermaster had at the time.

Funnily enough I camo across the forged in battle minis last online. Yep I'd been looking at the psc Normandy grenadiers,il keep them mostly field grey and paint the bottoms up in pea dot and other ss patterns. Forgot to say it would be from June 44 for to late summer so they'd go down well .

Ps just had another look at forged in battle and the British 8th army minis look pretty nice as well. Hmm could be another project for 2017.

Perhaps you got a batch that was towards the end of life for the mold? I've got the ones that were in LW SS Panzergrenadier Company box plus 2 blisters of the SS Tank Hunter platoons and they're fine. The Sperrverband box I got was pretty bad though with a couple of malformed heads and one of the poses had a solid block of material between the body and outstretched arm. The Sperrverband figs were also noticeably out-of-scale when I compared them next to my EW French Infantry or LW Panzer Lehr while the SS weren't too bad.

True enough I could pick up a blister of troops and see how they are. It's only about 11-12 pound online.
