Here's my current take on building a thunder star. This will be for purely competitive games when I'm facing other cheese lists. Comments appreciated.

Company of the Great Wolf
Wolf Guard Battle Leader, Thunderwolf Mount, Storm Shield, Krakenbone Sword, 2 Fenrisian Wolves
Wolf Guard Battle Leader, Thunderwolf Mount, Storm Shield. Power Fist, 2 Fenrisian Wolves
Wolf Priest, Jump Pack, Melta Bomb
Iron Priest, Thunderwolf Mount, 4 Cyber Wolves
Iron Priest, Thunderwolf Mount, 4 Cyber Wolves
6 Thunderwolf Cavalry, 6 Storm Shields, 1 Wolf Claw, 2 Power Fists, 1 Power Maul

Wyrdstorm
Rune Priest, bike, helm of durfast, Mastery Level 2
Rune Priest, bike, Mastery Level 2
Rune Priest, bike, Mastery Level 2

Allied Detachment (White Scars)
Saint Celestine + her 2 body guards
Scout Squad

34 models, all in one unit except for the scouts who will outflank.

Rune Priests fish for Veil of Time then endurance. I'm considering swapping the wyrdstorm out for a libby conclave. Librarians are cheaper and cast powers more efficiently.

I think if you want any comments you'll want to re-write this list without all the ridiculous abbreviations, so people can really see what you're talking about.

I'm pretty savvy with the Space Wolves Codex and I have no idea what most of those letters are standing for.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

Not sure about your list because some abbreviations are impossible to undersand but it seems like you have 10 thunerwolves, a model with jump pack, 3 bikes, celestine and a scout squad? With only 20 models your list is not competitive at all. 12 regular thunderwolves with 6 storm shields and 2 thunder hammer cost 630 points. Add the murderpack and you would be only at 1100 points in total but with 10 wulfen and 12 thunderwolves you'll be unforgiving in close combat.

FW means Fenrisian Wolves.
CW means Cyber Wolves
Celestine has her 2 girls as well

Thats 29 models in a single death star with one of celestines girls coming back each turn. Average Toughness is 5 all able to move 12" 5 of which are Str 10 most with a 3++ and cyber wolf characters everywhere to take challenges.

Then you have the scouts

With regards to switching out Wyrdstorm for Libby conclave that depends on a few things.

1. How much you like the wyrdstorm power. I have seen it used a fair bit and it is devastating in the right situation.
2. If you go Libby Conc then you want to be going Ultra Marines and take Tiggy so that you have a better chance of the spells you want. Downside means he is on foot so makes you a little less mobile (not by much as you have enough around to bubble wrap him but it is just a though you have to keep in mind).

Apologies if the acronyms were difficult to understand. They're pretty standard in the competitive arena of ITC, Adepticon, NOVA, etc. I went back and spelled everything out to make it easier to read. As far as it being non-competitive, I don't understand that comment at all. It's a death star list. There are 29 models that go into a single unit that can break apart and rejoin as needed, has a massive footprint, and eats just about anything it touches. The five white scar scouts go into reserve and come on in the opponent's backfield and hide or camp an objective.

@rawne - thanks for the feedback on the list! I had not considered Tigurius so I will go back and take a look at that. He does offer quite a bit but I'd need to trim a little fat from the list to fit him in. Since I have the Strength 10 (S10) thunder hammers (TH) on the Iron Priests (IP), I could probably get away with dropping the two power fists (PF) from the Thunderwolf Cavalry (TWC) to squeeze him in.

Hopefully I can get a couple of games in with this list this weekend.

Another option I have seen is instead of the TWC unit go with an inquisitor and retinue. take a ton of crusaders for 3++ 3 priests will get you 3 chances of rerolling armour saves in combat then rerolling to hit and wound after. The Inquisitor gets you psycotroke grenade which can hurt the enemy and anti daemon one. that would save you a ton of points to tweak things about. You then donĀ“t need the wolf priest

That's an interesting idea too and one that I have not seen before. I need to get a copy of the Imperial Agents book. It has been on back order for a while now. I have also been thinking about using the heralds of the great wolf as the basis for a star. The -1BS and ability to ignore the first failed save seems pretty good.

I saw it while it was the inquisition book. not sure if using imperial agents reduces the number of models that you can use of the specifics. It needs 3 priests to guarantee the re-roll saves as their leadership is only 7. Everything else should be crusaders.

After a couple of games, here are the proposed tweaks:

Company of the Great Wolf
Wolf Guard Battle Leader, Thunderwolf Mount, Storm Shield, Krakenbone Sword, 2 Fenrisian Wolves
Wolf Guard Battle Leader, Thunderwolf Mount, Storm Shield. Power Fist, 2 Fenrisian Wolves
Iron Priest, Thunderwolf Mount, 4 Cyber Wolves
Iron Priest, Thunderwolf Mount, 4 Cyber Wolves
5 Thunderwolf Cavalry, 5 Storm Shields, 1 Wolf Claw, 1 Power Fist, 3 Power Mauls

Librarius Conclave (Ultramarines)
Tigurius
Librarian, ML2
Librarian, ML2
Librarian, ML2
Librarian, ML2

Allied Detachment (White Scars)
Saint Celestine + her 2 body guards
Scout Squad

34 models
1847

I dropped the wolf priest as Celestine gives the unit fearless and I value more psykers over preferred enemy (x). A maxed out wyrdstorm costs the same as a maxed out conclave with Tigurius. With the conclave I'm losing a point of Toughness and the mobility of a bike if they break off but gaining another warp charge, a ML3 psyker, re-rolls to cast, re-rolls to select powers, and more efficient casting (2+ vs 4+). The psykers still prioritize veil of time and endurance and then possibly daemonology for summoning or sanctuary after that.

I've been running a similar Wolfstar list - pre-Celestine and pre-FAQ official changes.

With Whitescars losing HnR and Skilled Rider, Celestine becomes mandatory. However, I would still include a Wolf Priest. The Preferred Enemy (x) is still amazing especially when it's 2+ reroll to wound against your primary targets. The second source of fearless is amazing for late game split offs. Also the 6+ FNP is often overlooked. I've had games where it's done nothing, but I've also had games where it saves me 3-4 wounds. Doesn't sound like much, but sometimes it adds up to a TWC or a IP (or 2).

Tiggy is almost always worth it. The slow speed of Tiggy (or Azrael in some of my lists) rarely slow the squad down. Having 1-2 foot sloggers almost never prohibits where I need my star to go due to the 2D6 assault sling shots every turn.

Recently, I've been finding myself thinning out my star and adding Heavy Support choices like TFC or FW Quad guns for some backfield objective control and some MSU threat potential where my star can't reach.

For me this means I run CAD Space Wolves, Celestine and Wolf Priest, TWC, a few IPs and some FW Quad guns. This CAD helps me by provide the bulk of a Deathstar and the Quad guns give me Horde thinning AND MSU Tank (Gladius) threats - due to S5 AP5 Blasts AND S8 AP4 Armorbane.

The rest of the list is Tiggy-Clave and the 3rd source is up to you. Personally, I'm looking into Inquisitions for Rad Grenades. Instant Death on T6 is hilarious.

Been looking everywhere but can't find any leaks of the rules for Celestine. Can she be taken as an HQ choice for a Space marine army?

Thanks for the feedback. I have been interested in picking up a couple of quad mortars for some ranged support. I'll take a look at the CAD option.

@jonny123: Celestine can be taken as an HQ in any Imperial CAD or Allied detachment.

@crouching lictor. Does that mean Celestine can be taken as as an HQ for space wolves?
