				<title>1k mini-tournament Orcs and Goblin list</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Hey guys, we're going to have a small tournament with only 8 players at my <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(38);'>FLGS</span> and the winner will win 350kr, which is about 35 euro. Because we have 5 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(385);'>WoC</span> players we will NOT allow <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(102);'>MoT</span> or other sources for getting Ward Saves, for example Savage Orcs. The exceptions are -<br /> 1. <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(59);'>HW</span>/Shield<br /> 2. 				<title>Arachnorak Spider throne thingy - anyone ever used this?</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Just wondering.  I've got a campaign (just for fun) where we're encouraged to have different types of army  lists (2500pts)<br /> And was wondering if an army built around the spider throne mount would work?<br /> Here's what I was thinking - let me know if you think this could work or have experience using the spider throne<br /> <br /> lvl3 with big spider and maybe channeling staff 4+ ward (channelling on 3+, loremaster)<br /> lvl1 Night goblin (base spell with 2 dice) scroll caddy, maybe fire bound spell carrier<br /> lvl2 orc shaman leaching scroll<br /> lvl2 savage orc lucky head trooper<br /> 36 savage orcs<br /> black orc boss general (keep someone in line so they can cast/hunt other wizards with sniper spells)<br /> 15-20 black orcs to babysit the other spell casters<br /> cheap <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(174);'>bsb</span> with leadership banner <br /> 75 night goblins nets<br />  2 doomdivers<br /> 2 rock lobbas<br /> pump wagon<br /> I'd try to get some wolf riders or spider riders in there and maybe another chariot of sorts (wolf chariots are cheap)<br /> I'd try to wipe out the enemies warmachines, then hang back and pepper with magic getting on average 2-3 extra power & dispel dice a turn so hopefully control both magic phases and get into combat only after getting some decent spells off.<br /> <br /> The spider is so expensive and the guy on top a little frail, but he does crank out some magic dice. Having the other casters close by and avoiding most of the animosity rolls, I should be able to do some damage.  <br /> I might have to drop the scroll caddy to grab points for riff-raff and to make sure I get the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(174);'>bsb</span> in there.<br /> Do you think it will work or is the spider guy too expensive and a waste of points?<br /> <br /> I've only got around 100 Night gobbos, 30-40 forest gobbos and another 50 bow night goblins model wise, otherwise, I'd go with more goblins ~ which is why I'm putting so many orcs in there. that and for leadership animosity checks.  I've found my big night goblin horde is actually not bad in combat, esp on the flank but they'll still need some help.]]></description>

				<title>Advice wanted: 2500pts Beastmen (to play against Dwarfs).</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Hi folks, got a bit of a yearly event coming up - trip to Warhammer World Nottingham for a one-off game, this year it's going to be Fantasy, 2500pts.<br /> I'll be taking Beastmen and my opponent will be using Dwarfs - we're both getting back into fantasy after a big gap, and we've only had a handful of games of 8th edition (though I quite enjoy the changes, having played since 4th ed!)<br /> <br /> In a few preliminary games (upto about 1500/2000pts) I've discovered that Dwarfs are pretty tough with the horde rules, that Crossbows/Thunderers are very nasty especially against unarmoured Beasties, and that artillery is even nastier. 				<title>2600pt Knights of Bretonnia</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Ok, I ran this list before and it did really good. The Lord was plain awsome, killing both an Ogre Kingdom's Thundertusk and The Changling with no help!! BUt next months tournament is a 2600pt tourney so I need to add 600 more pts. What should I add? Having returned home from basic training and playing Warhammer again I have come to the realization many other frusterated Wood Elf players like me have come to endure, the fact that we desperatley need a new book. After getting absolutely walloped by a Skaven players future potential Ard Boyz list and talking with some friends and doing some research it came to light that both other elf armies can potentially easily OUTSHOOT the Wood Elves  :bleep: . With this realization and the help of a few friends I have been convinced to at least consider runing "Wood Elves" but with the High Elves book/rules JUST for Ard Boyz, basically I just want a chance at the upcoming tourney to actually place and advance. Or in other words[b] "How Wood Elves should be able to shoot aka what they need!" His job is simple, to primarily weaken the toughness of a single enemy unit where I will then focus fire all my archers onto and hopefully/should wipe out with 120 shots per turn will be running them in either a 15x2 or 10x3 formation). Sounds just like Wood Elves dont it?  :nod: <br /> <br /> -Basically its wash, rinse repeat this tactic while casting spells like Mindrazor on another archer unit to make their shooting attacks (I think) and their <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'>CC</span> attacks if the need should arise strength 8 to deal with any oppnents that get close.<br /> <br /> -Phoenix Guard Bunker to keep Banner of Sorcery alive and to add an added defense for my archers, same goes for Dragon Princes who can also run up the flanks and attempt to hunt warmachines if this is needed. Caradryan will possibly go here to give the unit a little extra in <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'>CC</span> and magic resistance or with Teclis in archer unit to accept challenges if needed.<br /> <br /> Now in regards to the fluff side of this as I stated above I will be using Wood Elf models to represent this High Elf Army. I figure with the models I will be using this army will both be devastatingly effective as well as keeping to the Wood Elf theme (which goes to show you if we even had access to Lore of Shadow it would make us that much more competitive). The Ogres have their movement and impact hits which could hurt me bad, the dwarfs have their guns. 				<title>High Elves starter army list</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ So I'm thinking about starting up High Elves, as they look really fun and challenging to play, are strong at magic, and should be cheap to build right now. I'm thinking about buying the High Elves half of Island of Blood and a High Elf Battalion to get my army started. Do you think this would be the best way to get into High Elves? I could either get one of the IoB halves and a battalion, or just three IoB halves. The main goal is to build a fun, competitive High Elves army around $200.00. Which do you think would make for a better army list? Not worried about being extremely competitive, but I don't want to lose every game either. 				<title>1k vamp list for special event</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ The Chicago Bunker is having an event on March 3rd.  It is themed as <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(138);'>VC</span> & Skaven vs. Empire, Wood Elves, and Brets.  It is three rounds progressing from 1k up to 2k in 500 point increments.  I'm going to field my new <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(138);'>VC</span> list, and my goal is to frustrate the other team.  I'm going for a heavily ethereal army. Based on the models I currently have, I'm thinking the following:<br /> <br /> 40 zombies<br /> 44 zombies<br /> 5 hexwraiths<br /> 5 hexwraiths<br /> 4 cairn wraiths<br /> <br /> Its a low model count army, and it lacks banners, but I don't think I will need them for scenarios or anything.  I know that tree spirits will give me all sorts of trouble and that the zombies must be supported to survive long against heavier units like greatswords, flagellants, or bret knights.  That all being said, I have the following questions:  <br /> <br /> 1) What characters should I include on a 248 point budget for this list?  <br /> 2) Would it be prudent to drop one unit of hexwraiths for 3 spirit hosts?  At this low point level I may face several units with static res of 1 or less.  <br /> 3) I know very little about brets and wood elves. 				<title>Vampire Counts. Doable at 500 points?</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ <br /> <br /> Hello,<br /> <br /> I'm currently in the process of rebuilding and repainting my vampire counts army but I find I'm lacking direction, I just pick a model/unit and paint it.<br /> So I thought of doing it in 500 point chunks to make things more manageable, give me some focus and allow me to get a game in too.<br /> <br /> However I'm struggling to come up with a decent looking 500 point list to use as a starting point. Anything I come up with seems short in the killing department. I should add that I haven't played <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(147);'>WHFB</span> since the Nineties so to call me rusty would be an understatement.<br /> <br /> Here's what I've come up with so far:<br /> <br /> Heros - 125<br /> <br /> Necromancer<br /> Wraith<br /> <br /> Core - 260<br /> <br /> 40 Skeletone with Standard and Musician - 220 (Necromancer and Wraith in this unit)<br /> 5 Dire Wolves - 40<br /> <br /> Special - 90<br /> <br /> 2x Spirit Host<br /> <br /> Total: 475. I don't have points to give the Necromancer any protection unless I lose the Wraith and if I do the Necromancer isn't much of a fighter so where is the damage going to come from? Is attrition the best way to go?<br /> <br /> I do like the list from a fluff perspective of a necromancer at the beginning of their career, not powerful enough to bind much to his will yet.<br /> <br /> So is it a decent start? Ususally gives me 2 or 3 turns of shooting.  I flee through the ironguts who then take/charge whatever the belchers had softened up.  It's a stupid amount of shooting for an ogre army.  5 S5 attacks from the general is nice, and 5+ armor 6+ ward and re-roll to wound me is surprisingly durable; especially on a self healing ogre.<br /> <br /> So far, I've caught all my opponent off guard. I just don't have that many zombies...<br /> <br /> Base plan is simple enough. Skeletons and Grave Guard form a Phalanx, backed up by the Necros. Dire Wolves enable a little controlling of the field so nothing gets too out of hand. Spirit Hosts share that role, but may also tie up monsters very well should they need to, and they along with Wolves are going to be my first drops, scattered over the battlefield and hoping to force my opponent to deploy first. The Black Knights + Lord form a strong flank, and are going to break the opponents battleline from there. Sir Novkaer is kitter for challenges, and The Kingslayer is kitted for character-killing (hitting on 2+, forcing re-rolls on ward saves? Yes please.)<br /> <br /> So... What are your thoughts? 				<title>new to Fantasy Small 500 point army, Help requested</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Hi all i'm kinda new to Warhammer <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(153);'>FB</span> and i could use some advice, a bunch of friends and i play fantasy every now and then (we're all in Melbourne)  since we're all just starting out we generally have only small armies<br /> <br /> So far i'm fighting<br /> - Vampire counts <br /> - High Elves<br /> - Tomb Kings (hasnt finished his army yet)<br /> - Skaven (hasnt finished her army yet)<br /> - Lizardmen (hasnt finished his army yet)<br /> - Wood Elves <br /> <br /> So with this in mind I have been trying to put together a generic 500 point army, something thats jack of all trades, (unfortunetly I have learned much to my chagrin that swordmasters of hoeth are in fact broken) and could really use some advice on the subject since i keep getting my a** handed to me<br /> <br /> Anywho heres my list<br />  <br /> [color=red]---- 500 points empire ----[/color]<br /> <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(347);'>Lvl</span> 2 Battle Wizard of the Jade order - [b]100 points [/b]<br /> Spearmen with Standard Musician and Seargeant X 40 - [b]320 points[/b]<br /> ^Detachment Free company X10 - [b]50 points [/b]<br /> ^Detachment Halberdiers X 10 - [b]50 points [/b]<br /> Handgunners X10 - [b]80 points[/b]<br /> <br /> Basically the whole point of this army is to hang around as long as possible with the ability to swap one of the lore of life spells for earthblood for a very pesky regeneration and the battlewizard with the large group of spearmen they can all get the regeneration then on a charge reaction he flees from the unit whilst the two detachments mop up for the dirty work. I was debating whether to take handgunners or crossbowmen, the extra range would be nice, i just find that in the 500 point battles we have that people generally tend to soup up a unit, and i like the extra armour piercing. That being said i was debating whether to drop one of the detachment and the wizard for a warrior priest, hatred can be rather nasty on the first turn plus added survivability and extra attacks. ]]></description>

I don't like the zombie-heavy armies. The Skeletons with Necromancers are the Anvil, the Dire Wolves redirect or take on warmachines, the Vampire rides with the Black Knights, the Wight King marches with the Grave Guard, and they Hammer things. The Terrorgheist and Varghulf run around distracting people and causing damage (hopefully).<br /> <br /> A few notes: I know my Vampire Lord's powers aren't ideal, but I love the terror mechanics and wanted to use them. Is that going to hurt me a lot? I'm also concerned about my limited &quot;Vampiric&quot; units, and magic.<br /> <br /> Keep in mind I've never played before, and thanks for the help! <br /> <br /> <br /> EDIT: I made my Lord's Magic Item choices legal  :*)  changed my Lord's powers, and put The Screaming Banner in the group of Black Knights, complimenting my Lord's new Powers.  ]]></description>
