				<title>Men-at-Arms. How to use?</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ What are some good ways to run Men-at-Arms? I am planning on running 50-60, or possibly more, in an upcoming tournie and am not sure of the beat way to run them. <br /> <br /> 1) Is it better to run them in horde formation or not? In a horde formation with spears you can get 4 ranks to attack, but in regular formation you have more ranks.<br /> <br /> 2) With spears or pole-arms? Is the extra attacks worth less <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(123);'>Str</span>? Or should the weapon depend on the formations that they are in?<br /> <br /> 3) And lastly, should they get a damsel or paladin attached to them? I'm thinking either to attach a paladin with crown on command for stubborn, or a damsel with beasts and the prayer icon for a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(123);'>str</span> and T boost and Ward save.]]></description>

				<title>ork help please </title>
				<description><![CDATA[ I have a couple armies of <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(3);'>40k</span> one being orks and I love how random and awsome they are, the local gaming store is having a fantasy campaign and im thinking on geting orks, any advice on how to build a army I have not played fantasy before, some of the units I like are, gorbad, night goblins and fanatics, black orks, and boar boys, mangler squiqs, giant spider, and lobers. the way I see me playing is having a mangler and fanatics center of the board to disrupt enemy formations with gorbad and boar boys flanking with support from lobbers and posibly a giant spider, Im not suer of how many units ur allowed per slot and the pts considering I dont have a codex yet but I was curious to see if any one had similer builds and advice on a good army build. \<br /> as far as points I think the norm is 2000 but the store hasnt decided yet. <br /> <br /> thanks for the look over hope to get some feed back. ]]></description>

				<title>Night Goblin archers with a 20x frontage?</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ I was just wondering if it would be tactically viable to deploy a unit of 40x night goblins with shortbows in a 20x file by 2x rank "gunline" formation. I have 2 units of 40x ng with shortbows and want to maximize my shooting. Seems risky, but what isn't in a goblin army? I realize it depletes their close combat effectiveness significantly, but I figure they'll  reform for ranks before the enemy closes, and if they do happen to close that quickly, it'll likely be a cav unit, or something else small and quick, so the 10 extra shots for the full 40 shot stand and shoot reaction may be enough to cause panic and divert the charge. Also, this gives me a huge range from which to release fanatics. <br /> <br /> Just wondering what thoughts and opinions might be, and do consider this is a pure goblin army, so please dont suggest adding any boyz and the like. You must be this stunty to ride this army :P]]></description>

				<title>Saurus Warriors: Spears or Hand Weapons and For What Roles?</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ I will soon be buying my second box of saurus warriors. I assembled the warriors that came with my battalion with spears, since it's a relatively cheap upgrade that seems to add a lot to their deadliness in combat. Anyway, as I assemble my second box, I need to decide if I want to assemble them with shields and spears.<br /> <br /> Now, while I was playing a while back, someone told me that saurus warriors with spears are more of an anvil unit and warriors with hand weapons are more of a hammer unit - to be exact, he told me that with spears it's better to receive a charge than to charge - which makes it seem that it might behoove me to assemble one unit of each. However, I'm not clear as to why this is the case and I didn't get a chance to urge my opponent to clarify. It seems to me that it would be the opposite: spears let warriors fight in an extra rank, which adds to their killiness, while shield and hand weapon gives the warriors a 6+ ward save, which makes them harder to kill.<br /> <br /> For that matter, if spears make my saurus more of an anvil unit, I'd be inclined to assemble all my saurus with spears, since my current list also includes a big meaty unit of Temple Guard and a big meaty unit of Saurus Cavalry to act as hammers.<br /> <br /> So, to sum it up, these are my questions:<br />  1) Which makes saurus warriors into a better anvil unit, spears or hand weapons, and why?<br />  2) Which do you prefer, shields or hand weapons, and why?<br />  3) If I've got a bunch of warriors with spears, should I assemble some with hand weapons? Or is this a choice I should make consistently across an entire army so both my saurus units can fulfill the same role?]]></description>

				<title>What Lores are best for this list?</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ I am not looking for comments on the list as I already have the models painted and all ready for the tournament on Saturday. What I cant decide is the lores to use. Should I have all my casters take Lore of Beasts so I can really beaf up my knights and give the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(382);'>SC</span> within range of the Prophetess +3str and +3 attacks with the Savage Beast of Horos? Or should the damsels take Beats for Wildform and the Prophetess take Life to regenerate wounds on the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(382);'>SC</span>, bring back knights and hopefully get Dwellers Below? 				<title>Orcs and Goblins vs Warriors of Chaos *Updated*</title>

I could add more units to my Orc list but I wanted to balance it out a little bit and make it easier for him and harder for me to win the game. He wanted to battle archers so I gave him some archers and he wanted to battle some tough troops so I gave him some tough troops! Anyway, what do you guys think? Does these two lists look fairly balanced and a good start for a newbie to begin with? <br /> <br /> Also, I would love to lower the amount of magic items but as I said i'm pretty short on <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(385);'>WoC</span> models so I wanted to make it as epic as possible. :)<br /> [u][b]<br /> UPDATED -[/b][/u]<br /> I changed the lists quite a lot. The core units are pretty much the same except that I removed Banner of Wrath from the Tzeentch Warriors and gave them Wailing Banner instead. I think that <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(347);'>lvl</span> 2 Wizards are the way to go instead of starting with <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(347);'>lvl</span> 4's. I removed my Dispel Scroll but decided that he could keep his scroll. I also added 4 Chaos Ogre's to the list and I will buy, paint and glue them together soon. <br /> <br /> [u][b]Rules of the game[/b][/u]<br /> [spoiler]Last man standing! Also, there will be 3 possible objects that you can take which will increase [b]your whole army's power![/b]<br /> [b]1. Offering to Khorne (Right side of the field) -[/b] Increases your Attack by 1. All you have to do is to run 4" with any unit or character and your whole army has it. <br /> [b]2. Dwarf Tomb (Middle of the field) -[/b] increases your <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(82);'>LD</span> by 3, up to a maximum of 10. All you have to do is to run 4" with any unit or character and your whole army has it.<br /> [b]3. Offering to Gork (Left side of the field) -[/b] +1 Ward Save to all your units. All you have to do is to run 4" with any unit or character and your whole army has it.<br /> If both players have a unit at the object then no one will have it. You don't actually need to keep a unit at the object to keep the buff -- once you have touched it it's yours. But if you leave the object then the other player can take it and the player who had the buff will lose the buff.[/spoiler]<br /> <br /> So, what do you guys think?]]></description>

				<title>500 point anything-goes tourney with Skaven...</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ I'm playing in a 500 point tourney this weekend in which one core choice and one hero are compulsory, but there are no percentage restrictions for the remaining list. What would you guys suggest taking in a format like this? I'm debating between an HPA with or without a WLC, two WLC's and lots of slaves, or 1 WLC and more bodies. What would you use in this situation?]]></description>

				<title>Viability of the Fay Enchantress</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ [u]Question[/u]<br /> Does this character have any place in even a semi competitive Bretonnian army? If so what kind of army would work well with her?<br /> <br /> [u]Description[/u]<br /> For those of you who are unfamiliar with the character she weighs in at a little over 500 points, can cast from any standard lore, gets an additional +2 to casting Life, adds an extra die to both dispel and power dice and casts a random Heavens spell every turn.<br /> <br /> [u]My thoughts[/u]<br /> She opens up the possibility of buying another Grail knight unit but the price of it counts against the Lord section and with her massive price I don't see how you could possibly afford to buy a unit of any decent size. She might work as a character to cover the entirety of the Bretonnian magic phase, like a crappy teclis. The problem with that is that then there is no Dispel scroll in the army and it would cost over 100 points to buy a cheapie damsel with a scroll. At that point it seems like too many points are being put into something other than lances or peasants in a Bretonnian list.<br /> <br /> [u]<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(522);'>TLDR</span>[/u]<br /> Fay Enchantress useable at all?<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> ]]></description>

				<title>Dwarf Tactics vs. VC</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Hey Dakka,<br /> <br /> I'm not too flash of a dwarf player, so I could use your help against my friend. We play aroundabouts 1000 points, we don't have much more, and he initially played a powerful vamp sorcerer, a weaker vamp combat hero and 2 big ghoul units, and a medium zombie unit. My usual set up (because the other player in our triumverate is a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(404);'>HE</span> player) is (from memory);<br /> Runesmith with Balance, Spellbreaking and a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(50);'>GW</span><br /> around 28 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(50);'>GW</span> warriors<br /> Another 26 or so <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(50);'>GW</span> warriors<br /> 2 Grudge Throwers, one with RoAccuracy and RoPen, the other with RoAccuracy, RoPen and RoBurning<br /> <br /> The numbers in warrior units are a kinda estimate as I forget how many I manage to fit, but they won't be off by more than a few.<br /> <br /> My variations have included changing one of the units to a smaller one of quarrellers with <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(50);'>GW</span>, making a unit of warriors smaller and turning the larger one into longbeards, and dropping a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(48);'>GT</span> for an Organ gun and a cannon at different times. Now after both playing them and reading almost 40-50 battle reports almost every single the resulting in a defeat for warriors of chaos. i can confidently say, no matter what the build, warriors of chaos are both the worst army in 8th ed and totally un-competitive in any respect. 				<description><![CDATA[ You don't see a lot of chatter on these, so I have one a try today.<br /> <br /> The plan was simple.<br /> Vampire, heavy armor, charmed shield, and opal amulet.  (that's ignore 1 hit, and 4+ ward vs 1st wound).  Still pretty cheap.<br /> Kept the Throne within 12" of the general, so I get the LD10 for battle of the wills.  In most combats, the generals unit moves in within 6" pretty fast, where my generals Aura of Dark Majesty pays off.<br /> <br /> It performed a lot better than I thought it would.  Varghulf, vargheists and hex wraiths all loaded one flank while smaller ghoul units and sand makes them similar.<br /> It's done a pretty good number on shooting armies, as you have a chance that you'll make those shooters hit each other instead of listening to you.<br /> <br /> -Matt<br /> ]]></description>

				<title>I Believe I Have Understimated Skeleton Archers</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ I never gave them a chance but I used them recently as a bunker for the priest and I found that they can actually do quite a bit of damage. The main thing I forgot was that righteous smiting gives multiple shots (2), and no negative to hit is delicious. Archers can attack without being attacked and they can pick, choose, and change targets every turn and don't have to move to attack, they can stay nice and cozy behind the heavy hitters.<br /> <br /> Chariots have always been nice, with 8 move and swiftstride their great to have around. The only reason they got worse for me is I started playing with terrain, aka a group of 6 chariots passing through a forest is going to have an average of one chariot explode.<br /> <br /> Warriors are a nice solid core, with a prince and necrotect they become a decent fighting unit. Though buyer beware they will eat anything else thats fighting with them with combat resolution.<br /> <br /> Horse Archers are expensive archers with scout.<br /> <br /> And Horseman are a burning bag of poop.<br /> <br /> What do you my fellow Tomb Kings field for your core?]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Alright have my sights set on lizardmen for a tourny in July which should give me a lot of time to paint it. The main issue I am having right now is that I cannot pick between the Lore's of life and light. Life buffs the saurus and such to stupid toughness, grants regen and lets you grow back models while protecting yourself from miscasts and still giving a few damage spells including dwellers beneath. Light makes up for the one glaring weakness in a lizardmen army, speed, while giving a few damage spells. Both seem good, and I am running big blocks of infantry, so what do you guys think?]]></description>

				<title>How do you combat a chosen-star?</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Hey Dakka, I recently played a 2k point game of fantasy against my friend's <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(385);'>WoC</span>. Needless to say, he brought his chosen and warshrine and absolutely demolished my temple guard and saurus blocks. Despite buffing my <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(536);'>TG</span> block with Timewarp, Speed of Light, and Pha's protection, I could only kill about 5 chosen before they plowed through my temple guard. I had no problem making him take saves, but the 4+ ward save from the warshrine combined with the mark of Tzeentch made it nearly impossible to kill any of them. It's not losing that bothers me; I just have legitimately no idea on how to counter his chosen star, and since he seems very committed to running them, I'm sure I'll be seeing them on the table more often. <br /> <br /> Does anyone on Dakka have any advice or strategies on how to combat chosen? Was I running the wrong lore on my Slann? Should I have just avoided combat with his chosen alltogether?<br /> <br /> Thanks for the help,<br />        Forge]]></description>

				<title>terrorgheist or not 2 terrorgheist</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(138);'>VC</span> player here, obvious from the subject line I hope, currently toying with running two terrorgheists in a 2k list but I am apprehensive about dropping my Black Coach to be able to do this.  I am in love with the death shreik of the terrorgheist and even though the infested upgrade (<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(2);'>3d6</span> <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(123);'>str</span> 2 hits to units in close combat) is a weak death explosion the shear number of dice that can be rolled will wound something.  I just don't know if it is worth it to drop my super coach for another gheist, therefore I come to the combined wisdom of the forums to hear any suggestions or horror stories from other <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(138);'>VC</span> players that have dealt with this problem.]]></description>

				<title>necro led VC armies... can they work?</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ So im just playing with list ideas trying to figure out what i wanna make  for an army list.  I was thinking of running a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(347);'>lvl</span> 4 necro  leading an all skeleton army   2 big blocks of skel warriors a block of GG's with a king,  some black nights, corpse carts and an engine.   for support probably a couple of <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(347);'>lvl</span> 1 necros just for nehek.   i was wondering if running kemmler and krell could be worth it in this type of getup.... crunching numbers at around 2250  <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(269);'>id</span> have 2x40 blocks of skellys and and 30 GGs.  maybe make a small 10-15 skelly block to bunker the lvl1 necros in. ]]></description>

				<title>Zombie Dragon Tactics?</title>

				<title>empire artillery</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ SO beginning painting work on my empire army and I was wanting to know from veteran empire generals what the + and - of the empires artillery beyond the cannon. My friend plays dwarves and runs just basic cannon so it's about the same and so I know what they can do. But what about the mortar and hellblaster? I have one of each(both were bought and built for me so they are what they are)<br /> <br /> I understand the mortar is great for large infantry units, but does it have the punch against heavy infantry like chaos warriors.<br /> <br /> The hellblaster certainly looks cool and like it has the capability of dealing plenty of destruction but is it truly effective? or is it to gimmicky and should just stay home? <br /> <br /> Also though I dont have one I could get one, is the hellstorm battery any good?
