Forge World Open Day 2010 – Sunday 28th March
The Open Day is a great chance to come along and see what we have in store for you in the coming year, and all of our studio staff will be there for you to come and talk to. You’ll be able to see work-in-progress miniatures and artwork, as well as proof copies of the forthcoming Imperial Armour Volume 8: Raid on Kastorel-Novem. We will also have exciting, as-yet unseen models, participation games and much more.
Doors open at 10am and the Open Day itself will continue until 4pm. No ticket is required, and admission is free at the door.


Sneak Peeks and New Releases
As well as previewing future projects on the Studio stand, we will have a limited quantity of some of them available for you to buy. We will reveal more just before the event, but for now we can whet your appetite with details of some of these new releases:

Raven Guard Rhino, Land Raider, and Terminator Land Raider Doors

When the time is right, ebony-clad Space Marines will launch an overwhelming assault, their stark white heraldry gleaming as they slaughter the enemies of Mankind. While a Raven Guard strike force is predominantly composed of Assault Marines, heavy equipment is also used – the armoured vehicles of the Chapter are honoured relics, lovingly maintained and embellished by skilled artificers to display their battle honours and Chapter heraldry.

These vehicle upgrade sets, designed by Simon Egan, are ideal for use on all types of Space Marine tanks – each contains replacement side doors and a front hatch suitable for use on all Rhino chassis tanks such as Predators and Whirlwinds, and all Land Raider variants. Two sets of Land Raider doors are available, one featuring additional Crux Terminatus icons. Elysian Troops for Valkyrie

The set contains a full Drop Troop squad of 10 seated troopers carrying a variety of equipment, as well as lasguns mag-clamped to the roof of the Valkyrie. The detailed heads of each trooper could also be used to add variety to a standard Elysian squad with some conversion work. Elysian Tauros Assault Vehicle

Its four wheels are individually powered by advanced high-yield galvanic motors, allowing it to maintain speed even with damaged tyres – often a crucial edge when faced with superior enemy firepower. This detailed model, designed by Will Hayes, is a full resin kit that comes with options for a Heavy Flamer or Grenade Launcher as well as two resin crew, designed by Simon Egan. The Tauros can be transported in either a Valkyrie Sky Talon or a standard Valkyrie, which the model will physically fit into. New Forge World Weathering Powders
Our penultimate Open Day release is a new set of our popular Weathering Powders – this new range of eight pigments compliments and expands the six powders currently available. The new powders are Aged Rust, Light Rust, Bone Dust, Faded Green, Dark Iron, Dry Mud, Fresh Mud and Medium Earth, and are available both individually and as a full set – our talented Studio designers will also be demonstrating how to work with Weathering Powders throughout the day, so make sure you stop at their stand.



Ork Runt Bot and Grot – 2010 Show Only model

Meks are always keen to test their bionik designs on the battlefield, and if no suitable ‘patients’ are available they will build a Runt Bot; a huge, clanking parody of an Ork warrior powered by a rumbling engine and directed into battle by a plucky Grot, who will be provided with a ‘kontrol pad’ for the mechanical warrior. This finely detailed and striking vignette depicts the Grot controller perched precariously on the shoulder of the Runt Bot, wrestling with the joystick in an effort to direct the shearing claws of the monstrosity. This great miniature can be used to represent a Warboss with the Bionic Body upgrade, a Nob in Mega-Armour, or simply as a centrepiece or painting project. Attractions and Activities
Ork StompasAs well as all the pre-release miniatures that our designers will be showing off, we will have many other fantastic displays and activities. You’ll be able to view the Forge World Studio’s Kastorel-Novem Ork board in all its glory, as our talented designers have expanded what you might have seen at Games Day UK last year.

We will also have two great participation games: Firstly, our ever-popular Warhammer 40,000-scale Aeronautica Imperialis game which will allow you to take command of either the noble Imperial Navy, a valiant Tau Air Cadre or a crack skwadrun of Ork Fightas and do battle in high-G dogfights to rack up the highest kill tally.

Reaver vs StompaWe will be unveiling a brand-new, giant Apocalypse participation game for this year, which sees an Adeptus Titanicus battlegroup supported by Imperial Guard tanks take on the savage might of a Goff Ork Stompa mob and their Speed Freek allies – skill, tactics and the ancient might of the Titan Legions face off against raw aggression, savagery, and the brutal genius of the Mekboyz.

Our sales stand will carry a wide range of Forge World kits, but you also can place a reservation order. This is the best way of getting exactly what you want, as we will ensure your order is packaged up and waiting for you at the Reservation point on our stand. You will be able to collect it at any point across the day, which means that you can spend more time enjoying the rest of the show – reservation orders must reach us by March 23rd.

Hello, I can't start a thread.

I have some information regarding the development of a Necron codex. I do not normally come on Warseer, but thought you would appreciate this information – hence the small number of posts. You have no reason to put faith in me – and I am not prepared to prove my validity at potential detriment to my career. I do not want to specify my exact employment with Games Workshop for this reason.

Necrons have completed the initial concept phase of their line expansion. Release schedule is currently for January 2011.

This conceptual phase has been stop-start for some time – it is a product range that has massive potential, and Games Workshop have been very uncertain of the most lucrative theme by which to capitalise on its fanbase. The development is considered a high-risk investment – a commitment problem that the team is well aware of, and is exacerbated by there being multiple such high-risk line expansions currently being pursued.



3 multi-part plastic kits have been finalised as:

- Immortals
- Spyders
- The Necromancer


Immortals are on a large (35mm) base; they are redesigned as larger, bulkier and more dynamic.

Spyders have 3 different builds

The Necromancer is the central sell of the line expansion and has been the focus of much of the early design process. It has been through several incarnations (and names), but is essentially of the same principle as the Bone Giant for the Warhammer Fantasy range. It has a mechanised skeletal torso housing a suspended crystal, and will likely have a choice between two horrific weapons.


That is all the information I can disclose. I will not post any more.

I would like to add that development staff are getting very frustrated by headquarters’ increasingly tyrannical policies – within and between departments – with regards to information restriction. Spearhead is a new way to play Warhammer 40,000 that enables you to unleash exciting tank battles and daring breakthrough missions on the tabletop, bringing the full mechanised fury of the 41st Millennium to bear in your games. June's White Dwarf will contain the main part of the supplement, including new rules, missions and plenty of inspirational hobby advice. I just thought i'd say that today I put together one of the stores NEW Blood Angels Sanguinary Guards. It felt amazing, the look and detail in each significant piece of the model is amazing. from like blood droplets on the helmet to blood droplets on the knuckles of a power fist. And don't get me started on the shoulder pads.

It is inspired by old pre heresy themes and I spent a great deal of time getting symmetry and making for easy conversions with other bitz like shoulder pads.

The "fins" at the back was something I liked to add to give a more old look. I call them air brakes and they come separate and can be glued on closed or opened position for added variety.
Bear in mind that they are loosely attached by small blobs of greenstuff in the pics (so the seams between the air brakes and the main turbine hull can look od with green blobbing out a bit) , as is the pack to a plastic mini for size comparison sake so things could always slip a little during my struggles with the camera.

It will be cast in resin for weight and stabilities sake, no need to have light plastic minis with heavy unbalancing backpacks.

Its odd and looks "old" but heck, I hope you like it.

Attached below is the latest version (v3.3) of the Independent National Warhammer 40,000 Tournament FAQ (INAT FAQ), produced primarily for Adepticon 2010.

We desperately tried to hold out on doing a last ditch update until after GW released their Tyranid FAQ...but Adepticon is getting dangerously close and with GW's Deff Rolla ruling we knew that a few rulings needed to get published prior to Adepticon, so we've gone ahead done this mini-release of the INAT FAQ. Of course, knowing our luck GW will release their Tyranid FAQ tomorrow. :P

So what's changed? Except for rulings that were changed/added due to GW's Ork Deff Rolla FAQ answer, [b]there are no other reversed or added rulings in this update.[/B] All that has been changed is the removal of a couple incorrect Tyranid questions/answers, a few general typo fixes and four new rulings in the Ork section that are all in regards to GW's Deff Rolla ruling...and that's it!

As always, any questions/rulings that have been altered from the 3.2 version have been denoted as such with a 'plus sign' ( + ) before the question # and have their 'answer text' [color=red]colored red[/color] (just as with the 3.2 version) to make it easy for you to spot what has been changed (just jump to the Ork section this time around).

Also attached to the post below is the INAT Appendix v1.0. This covers all the Imperial Armor/Apocalypse unit questions and has not been changed since it was originally released (hence why it is still v1.0)

Instead of just one arm for big and medium sized creatures... we opted to make both left and right versions... also If you noticed and since they are biological arms, they have some diferences between them just to make it more interesting and fresh to the painters.

Chapterhouse folks asked me to insert some sort of crystal (due to fluff) in some place so the interior side of the swords have them instead of the mysterious eye that is present on the exterior side of the blade...
