The Sentinel discipline is the one most often chosen by heirs of House Nyarr's bloodline, for it exemplifies Dawnguard virtues. Banner bearers carry aloft in imperishable metal the oaths by which they live as a visible reminder to all their men of their purpose.

http://privateerpress.com/warmachine/gallery/retribution-of-scyrah/units/dawnguard-invictor-officer-and-standard-bearer

Invictor captains are veterans who have endured long years of service under merciless superiors.
GRIND Board Game [PP's Bloodbowl]
Full Metal Battle Sport

Bellevue WA. June 30, 2009—Privateer Press is pleased to announce Grind, an extreme combat sports board game for two players ages 14 and up releasing this October. In Grind players customize a team of steamjacks—10-ton, steam-powered mechanical robots—and battle to move a large, spiked ball into their opponent’s goal. The game comes with several highly detailed plastic components, including six Runner steamjack figures, four Crusher steamjack figures, 32 interchangeable weapon arms, two spiked pillars, and the Grinder ball. Also included are a full-color game board, 11 tokens, and custom dice.

When asked about the design behind Grind, Privateer Press Game Development Manager Erik-Jason Yaple said, “As we were developing Grind we looked at nearly every sport in existence for inspiration. Grind borrows from American and international football, rugby, billiards, hockey, and even stock car racing. The game delivers aggressive, in-your-face action as players slam and bash their steamjacks into each other. At the same time, it rewards careful planning and strategy as players try to get the Grinder across the playing field and into their opponent’s goal while the clock is running down. And thanks to the incredible amount of steamjack customization, players can build the team that suits their play style right out of the box.”

Source:
http://privateerpress.com/company/grind-board-game-coming-october-2009

Privateer Press does blood bowl? with Jacks~ mhmh. will keep an eye on this.

Warforged Miniatures

This is, admittedly, a shameless plug, but I think it fits here well enough.

I've noticed that whenever I pursue a project that requires any degree of casting, a few people inevitably approach me with the idea of selling copies of things I make. My typical answer is always something along the lines of "I'd love to, but I simply don't have the time" due to both family and my legal education. However, this is all about to change.

I've started working with a company located in Forth Worth, Texas, named D6 Hobbies. The company has some great people, quality casting equipment, and excellent materials at its disposal. Accordingly, I've negotiated a deal for them to produce and sell the resin casts of original parts that I send them. Therefore, I'm pleased to announce the creation of...

Warforged Miniatures is the new brand of the resin-cast products offered through D6 Hobbies, with it's own section in the webstore. The first product I'm happy to offer, by popular demand, are my Heavy Automatic Cannons, available for purchase individually or in sets of four. Nozeminer joins me in this endeavor with his own, unique brand of miniature bitz, offered under the moniker of "Nozeminer Studios". Those of you who browse The Warforge or The Waaagh regularly know that I sometimes outsource sculpting projects to Nozeminer, and to say that his sculpting talents are amazing is an understatement. He's put up a selection of useful bitz for all sorts of 28mm miniatures: Peaked Officer Caps, Savage Voodoo Masks, and Abhuman Gas Masks. We're going to have fully-painted pictures of our products in the next few days, and D6 Hobbies is restocking constantly.

The greater the support D6 Hobbies receives as it starts up these casting endeavors, the easier it will be for them to bring additional product up for sale, so please consider supporting their business. In the mean time, I'm brainstorming a couple different projects that will be decent products for both hobbyists and collectors alike. Input's welcome on existing and future products. :)

Flames of War "North Africa" Intelligence Briefing coming August 29th...

... from Battlefront Miniatures:
It began in Afrika ka ka ka!
The Revised and Expanded edtion:
North Africa

On 29 August the revised edition of North Africa will hit the shelves. This mighty tome comes in at 264 pages and takes into account the feedback we have received over the years since Afrika was initially released, as well as new research that the team has unearthed.

The first major change is that not only is North Africa much larger than its predecessor, but it will also be in hard cover. This means that it will stand up to the rigors of gaming like never before as we give our Late War armies a break and head back to North Africa and Italy.

The second major change is that a number of the companies have been split up into Africa, Tunisia or Italy lists. This means we have been able to more accurately represent the forces fighting in each of the theatres. The organisation diagrams for choosing your company have also been changed to the new style. This makes it much easier for new and experienced players to put a force together.

The last major change is that we have added in some of the new units that you have come to see regularly in Late War such as heavy artillery, as well some new ones like British 3.7” AA guns.

As a result of the increased size (50+ pages larger than before) we have also been forced to increase the retail price of the book, making it the same price as the rulebook. Taking customer feedback into account regarding Fortress Europe we felt that it was important to include all the lists that you knew and loved (as well as a few more that will become favourites), rather than dropping anything out.

North Africa will be in stores 29 August 2009!

German Forces Inside

Panzerkompanie – Africa

Afrika Schützenkompanie – Africa

Panzerpionierkompanie – Africa

Panzerspähkompanie – Africa

Fallschirmjägerkompanie – Africa

Fallschirmpionierkompanie – Africa

Schwere Panzerkompanie - Tunisia & Italy

Panzerkompanie - Tunisia & Italy

Gepanzerte Panzergrenadierkompanie - Tunisia & Italy

Panzergrenadierkompanie - Tunisia & Italy

Panzerpionierkompanie - Tunisia & Italy

Panzerspähkompanie - Tunisia & Italy

Grenadierkompanie - Tunisia & Italy

Italian Forces Inside

Compangnia Carri

Battaglione Bersaglieri

Squadrone Esplorante

Battaglione Fucilieri – Africa

Battaglione Fucilieri – Sicily & Italy

Compangnia Paracadutisti

British and the Commonwealth Forces Inside

Heavy Armoured Squadron – Africa

Light Armoured Squadron – Africa

Infantry Tank Company – Africa

Motor Company – Africa

Rifle Company – Africa

Divisional Cavalry Squadron – Africa

Armoured Car Squadron – Africa

Death or Glory Squadron - Tunisia

Armoured Squadron - Tunisia

Infantry Tank Company - Tunisia

Motor Company - Tunisia

Rifle Company - Tunisia

Armoured Car Squadron - Tunisia

Recce Squadron - Tunisia

Armoured Squadron - Italy

Motor Company - Italy

Rifle Company - Italy

Armoured Car Squadron - Italy

Recce Squadron - Italy

Commando Troop - Italy

Parachute Company - Tunisia & Italy

American Forces Inside

Tank Company

Armored Rifle Company

Armored Recon Company

Rifle Company

Ranger Battalion

Parachute Rifle Company
I like that this time we've been given the contents of the book up front unlike havinvg to wait until the book was released as they did with Fortress Europe.

Info on GW studio podcast and AdMech

Today I recieved a reply to a letter I had sent to Jervis. In that letter, I had asked if there would be any more of the design studio podcasts, and if we would be seeing anything form the Adeptus Mechanicus anytime soon. Here is his reply:
We do plan to do some more Studio podcasts, but want to set things up so we can do them on a fairly regular basis. It's taking a little while to put the necessary procedures in place to make this happen, but we will get there soon! Unfortunately I think it will take rather longer before we publish any further information on the Adeptus Mechanicus. Until we do your best bet for background information is tracking down second-hand copies of old Epic and Titan Legions material.
Too bad on the Mechanicus front, I had really hoped we would see somethign for them soon.

AdeptiCon Announces Dates for AdeptiCon 2010

Subj: AdeptiCon Announces Dates for AdeptiCon 2010

Greetings from the AdeptiCon Council!
It’s been almost three months since AdeptiCon 2009, the largest independent convention in the Games Workshop miniature wargaming hobby. Almost one thousand people attended AdeptiCon this last April and took part in the fun and excitement that has made AdeptiCon the standard for well-run miniature wargaming conventions.

Since April, we’ve been really excited about the direction that AdeptiCon is going, and we look forward to continuing our growth and expansion while living up to the excellence that has made AdeptiCon the “Can’t Miss” event of the year for hobbyists across the world.

Coming in March, 2010 – AdeptiCon 2010
Mark your calendars and start making your travel plans, because on March 26th-28th, AdeptiCon will return to the Chicagoland area! All the events that you know and love will be back, including our renown tournaments, demos, open gaming, hobby seminars, and the Rogue Demon competition.

In addition, stay tuned for more exciting announcements about AdeptiCon 2010.

Once again, the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center will host AdeptiCon, with great rates for all AdeptiCon attendees. Rooms will be available at the special AdeptiCon rate of $114 per night. This special group rate is only available to AdeptiCon attendees, and can be reserved through the link below:

http://www.starwoodmeeting.com/Book/adepticon10

Help Make AdeptiCon Happen!
Our motto is “For Gamers, By Gamers”, and we need your help to make AdeptiCon 2010 happen. Behind the scenes, dozens of dedicated volunteers make sure that AdeptiCon lives up our high expectations. Volunteers do everything from running and staffing events, setting up and breaking down the hundreds of gaming tables, building our world-class terrain layouts, marketing and spreading the word about AdeptiCon, and much more.

Can you offer one day out of the AdeptiCon 2010 weekend to help make this event a success?

Whether you’re interested in helping out during the AdeptiCon 2010 weekend, or want to help during the year to bring AdeptiCon together, we want you to join our team! Physical location is (mostly) not an issue! No matter where you reside, you can do your part to help make this amazing event come together.

We’re looking for fellow gamers and hobbyists who are willing to:
Pre-AdeptiCon:
Marketing/Communications
Sponsor Relations/Logistics
Event Planning/Design
Terrain Building*
Blogging
At AdeptiCon:
Event Staff – Rules Judges & Data Entry
Hobby Seminar Instructors
Venue Setup/Breakdown Crew**
*Members of the terrain-building team must be able to physically attend terrain-building sessions.
**Volunteers for setup must arrive by noon Thursday, March 25th. Volunteers for breakdown must be available on Sunday night, March 28th.

Email us at volunteer@adepticon.org with your name, phone number, email address, and area you’re interested in volunteering for, and become a part of making AdeptiCon happen!

AdeptiCon 2009 Wrap-Up
We’re obviously looking forward to AdeptiCon 2010, but if you want to catch up on the events of 2009, stay tuned! The AdeptiCon 2009 Retrospective will be finished up in the next month and available for download from http://www.adepticon.org.

Can’t wait?

Wondering who won the various tournaments and competitions at AdeptiCon 2009? Check out our results page at:
http://www.adepticon.org/modules.php?name=Sections&op=listarticles&secid=7

Want to see the scenarios used at AdeptiCon?
http://www.adepticon.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=25

And now…
…for something (almost) entirely not related to AdeptiCon 2010:

You may have noticed that crew over at the Bell of Lost Souls is putting together BOLSCon, on August 22-23rd. Several of us are planning to make the trip for what we think will the inaugural of a great event for years to come. If you can make it, we highly encourage you to attend and take part in the fun and excitement. Be sure to stop by and say hi!

http://www.bolscon.com/

Stay Tuned for More News about AdeptiCon 2010!

Original BTech artwork is coming back - the Unseen are Seen once again!

*checks that it's not April 1st... nope... I think we're safe*

After many, many long years, the original BTech artwork, licensed from various Japanese sources, are returning to BTech for their 25th anniversary. Considering the lengthy battle that FASA had with Harmony Gold about this a decade or so ago, this is huge news.

With any luck they'll already have IWM on the case so we can get new/old Rifleman, Warhammre and Marauder models up and running. :)

battle foam rumor

So I just found out something that may or may not be true. A very reliable source at our local gaming store told me that sometime in the next month or two battle foam will begin some kind of new trade in program. I guess they will be taking in used sabol and games workshop bags for credit on battle foam product. I don't know if that means all product or just bags, but it sounds awesome. It seems that it will work something like EB Games does for video games. That's all I could get on the topic since the guy did not have details.

The other cool rumor was about some kind of new bag that is designed just for super heavy vehicles. Stompas, baneblades, and even large flyers. Can you say, thunderhawk case.

Well that's what I got so make of it what you will.

Cheers

On tonight's (Monday, 6/22) episode of the Tonight Show, Conan wandered into some gaming store in LA. He joked about a few games/figures (notably Settlers of Catan, iirc) and in the background you could see a Warhammer 40k sign. Figured some of you guys would get a kick out of that.

Anyone been to the store I'm talking about?

EDIT: maybe it was Burbank...
