25th Anniversary 40k Dual Kit Boxes

Hadn't seen this anywhere else on Dakka, so apologies if it's already been said elsewhere.

GW are releasing some special new 40k boxes for various armies to coincide with the 25th birthday celebrations starting on the 25th of this month.

I know for definate there will be the following;

10 x Tactical Marines & a Drop Pod
10 x Chaos Marines & a Chaos Rhino
11 (or 12) Ork Boyz & a Trukk

I think there may be others such as Kabalite Warriors and a Raider but can't be certain on anything other than the ones listed above.

I'm pretty sure I saw that these dual kits were going to be Direct Only but that might just be me misunderstanding it. Think they would be missing a trick not sticking a few of these boxes in all stores to reach the maximum amount of customers.

Also pencilled in as part of the celebrations are releases for Space Wolves, Tyranids and Imperial Guard. Can't say for sure what these will be, but these are the armies listed as getting some new model goodness.

Urban War Junker Sand Raider Decurion preview

[url=http://www.urbanwarthegame.com/]Urban Mammoth[/url] is pleased to post photos of the upcoming Junker Sand Raider Decurion model for the Urban War Second Edition rules. These photos are from the painting table of [url=http://studiogiraldez.blogspot.com/]Ángel Giráldez[/url] who will be doing the paint job for this exciting new model.

[b]Junker Dune Raider Decurion[/b] Code: 13637 Price: TBA
[i]Dune Raider units are equipped with rugged quad bikes that are usually fitted with heavily modified versions of standard infantry weapons. These legionaries are generally employed for scouting out enemy positions, harrying isolated pockets of enemy resistance and providing support to the slower foot based elements of the army. These fast attack elements of the Junker Legions also have a well-deserved reputation for depravity, and mobile strike forces are often detailed off to pillage and despoil regions deep within enemy territory.

As is the norm in the Legions, Dune Raider Decurions have gained their rank through merit and many hard fought battles. They invariably lead from the front and will always be found in the thick of the fighting, or hunting out the richest loot.[/i]

The Junker Sand Raider Decurion model will be released as part of the Urban war February 2012 releases. For more information about upcoming Urban War figures please visit our [url=http://www.urbanwarthegame.com/store.php?sitemap_id=175&newrelease=1]New Releases page[/url]. The New Releases page not only has photos and release dates for our upcoming figures but also has links to images of the Urban War Second Edition stat cards which will be included with the model.

We will be positing more photos of the progress that Ángel makes on his paint job for the new Junker Sand Runner Decurion as soon as we receive them from him.

[img]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3194362/previews/Dune-Raider-Decurion-1.jpg[/img]

[img]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3194362/previews/Dune-Raider-Decurion-2.jpg[/img]

[img]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3194362/previews/Dune-Raider-Decurion-3.jpg[/img]

[img]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3194362/previews/Dune-Raider-Decurion-4.jpg[/img]

Forgeworld Newsletter # 296: SM models & new IA rules updates for SM, IG & Tau!

Hi there,
We’ve got an assortment of Space Marine releases for you to pre-order from today: four sets of Chapter-specific MkIIb Land Raider doors and a set of Space Marine Tank Crew, one of which you might recognise from a previous newsletter. We also have two rules updates available to download: one of which covers the Elysian D-99 army list while the other is a more comprehensive update covering a wider selection of our range.

[b]Space Marine Vehicle Crew[/b]

[img]http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Images/FW/tankcnl.jpg[/img]

Space Marine Tank CrewThe armoured vehicles of the Adeptus Astartes bear names and histories heavy with honour, glory and sacrifice, and each is commanded in battle by peerless warriors to whom armoured warfare is a way of life. These Space Marines, who have an affinity with the ancient spirits of their tanks, will often gain great renown in the honour rolls of their Chapter for crushing the foes of the Imperium beneath their vehicle’s tracks.

Mark Bedford has designed this set of [url=http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/SPACE_MARINE_TANK_CREW_.html]Space Marine Tank Crew[/url], which comprises three detailed figures suitable for use with the full range of Forge World and Games Workshop Space Marine vehicle kits. The set features a wealth of details, including helmed and unhelmed crew wearing MkII ‘Crusade’ armour and a crewman equipped with MkIV ‘Maximus’ armour. The Space Marine Tank Crew set is available to pre-order now for despatch from February 24th.

[b]MkIIb Land Raider Door Sets[/b]

In addition to the Vehicle Crew, four new sets of doors for the [url=http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Red_Scorpions/MkIIb-LAND-RAIDER.html]MkIIb Land Raider [/url]are also now available for pre-order. These sets contain two Rhino-sized side doors and a Land Raider front hatch, and are available to pre-order now for despatch from February 24th.

[b]Imperial Armour Rules Updates[/b]
The Forge World writing team have been hard at work compiling a [url=http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/News/Downloads.html]rules update[/url] for the various units and upgrades found in some of the older Imperial Armour books, in particular for our Tau Empire range. They’ve also produced an Elysian D-99 update document to bring this characterful veteran force, found in Imperial Armour Volume 4: The Anphelion Project, into line with the more recent Elysian rules from Imperial Armour Volume 8: Raid on Kastorel-Novem.
Check out these PUPs! New terrain from Warmill

Hi all

Anyone who's been following our progress log will have seen these already, our new [url=http://www.warmill.co.uk/-Portable_Utility_Pods/cat814919_1121501.aspx] Portable Utility Pods with modular gantry system[/url] . Lasercut from 3mm MDF, this is a premium kit for experienced modellers, as even the basic pod clocks in at 55 parts! Available in a range of kit sizes, the biggest Colony set weighs in at a bonkers 702 parts, so you won't run out of ways to set them up any time soon.

They're a very flexible kit, you can add optional fences and supports, and pods can be stacked as high as you like, the walkways can have support parts underneath them but they are also very self-supporting when painted. We've shown a couple of setups below, but there's no real limit to it as more sets can be added in later. Walkway parts can also be combined to make room and corridor setups for indoor games, we've thought about using the pods as containment cells for a clear-the-lab-of-zombies-or-aliens-depending-on-what-takes-your-fancy (or CTLOZOADOWTYF,( or 'cut-loz-ow-dow-tif' ;) ) scenario.

The sets are available now for despatch on Monday 20th of February, the first 25 orders received will also get a free set of antennae arrays that make nifty little objective markers.

Cheers all!
Harry and Ed
Warmill Games

PS please note the Mr Pod text was something we did for our project log and isn't on the production pieces ;)

Urban Mammoth announce May 2012 Urban War releases

Urban Mammoth is pleased to announce [url=http://www.urbanwarthegame.com/store.php?sitemap_id=175&newrelease=1]details of their May 2012[/url] releases for the [url=http://www.urbanwarthegame.com/]Urban War Second Edition[/url] sci-fi skirmish game. March will bring new units for the Viridian, Syntha and VASA factions of Urban War and expand the battlefield with a new armoured battlesuit and a sinister new Syntha Biomech.

[img]http://www.urbanwarthegame.com/pics/13147.jpg[/img]

[b]Viridian Urban Interdict Sergeant Price: TBA Code 13147[/b]
The Urban Interdict corps are specialists trained for fast combat insertion behind enemy lines. Equipped with a sophisticated gravchute and rugged, shock absorbing drop harness these soldiers often arrive to the battlefield from the air, jumping from low flying craft to open another front of fire against the enemy or strike weak points to their rear. This versatility makes them ideal for deep strikes, search and rescue, and interdiction and disruption missions.

[img]http://www.urbanwarthegame.com/pics/13333.jpg[/img]

[b]Syntha Medusa Class Biomech Price: TBA Code 13333[/b]
Strangest by far of the new class of cyber-augmented biomechs is the Medusa. Alien in form, the Medusa is more machine than flesh, its human torso mounted atop an articulated tail like that of a snake. On the battlefield the Medusa is smoothly and eerily quiet as it swoops and leaps around on the battlefield. Suspended in a bubble of null-g provided by its gravpack, its bladed tail provides both balance and enhanced close combat capability.

[img]http://www.urbanwarthegame.com/pics/13727.jpg[/img]

[b]VASA KV72 Wolverine Price: TBA Code: 13727[/b]
KV72s are large heavily armoured battlesuits. The two most commonly seen variants are the MKII Wolverine close assault model, and the MKIV Starfire infantry support model. Though configured for different battlefield roles, both these models are equipped with powerful cesti, making them valuable armoured assault assets.

Piloted by experienced ex-suppressors, the lumbering KV72s provide solid backup for the swifter and more lightly equipped elements in a VASA force.

Urban Mammoth is the producer of games and miniatures such as Warheads and the Urban War Second Edition sci-fi skirmish game.

Arena Deathmatch 2nd.edition news thread (Dwarf Runemaster p. 1)

Göllnir bands get reinforcements this month with the Dwarf Runemaster!
Runemasters normally attack the enemy through the magical power imbued in their runes, which are used as extremely destructive missiles. (well, except the minis ~8) ) but you can perfectly try it with the minsi you already have

if you'd like to check it out: [url]http://www.avatars-of-war.com/eng/web/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=63&Itemid=52[/url]

Hi,
the next Dark Elf army book release still is about a year in the future, but here some rumours that eldargal has heard:

[i]4th February 2012:[/i]
[quote]Oki-slash-doki, I have more Dark Elf rumours, from the same source as the first lot and also wcorroborated with a reliable rumourmonger:
The rumours:
-plastic monster, possibly a hydra, not certain its for DE specifically which isn't a problem with SoM scrolls of binding
-plastic mounted character, possibly female
-dual kit chariot (this was mentioned by others already)
-plastic bolt thrower

Witch Elves, Black Guard and Executioners also all with extra coroboration. Late 2013 still the most likely slot for release.

A plastic hydra would be nice, the way GW are doing plastic kits it could really be big and dynamic. But they just Finecasterisated the old hydra (and the bolt thrower) so I felt this seemed a little odd. If the plasticKarl Franz/Griffon rider kit pans out it would be interesting to see if that impacts this rumour, a possible Morathi/Hellebron/generic hero kit? Just speculation. The dual chariot kit has been wishlisted/rumoured before, so nothing too new with that.

For the record I consider myself a rumour dissemination facilitator, not a rumourmonger. As always don't believe it until GW announces it. [/quote]

[i]17th November 2011:[/i]
[quote]I've heard from two sources within GW that they have seen work in progress CAD thingamies for Dark Elf plastics, of which Witch Elves were named specifically. Another kit was mentioned as being Black Guard or Executioners. There was also another plastic kit he didn't recognise and some plastic characters. I'm embarassed to admit I can't find the original email to check exactly what he said. I think there may have been some large plastic critter as well.
EDIT: The other source just mentioned Witch Elf CADs which he wasn't too impressed with.

I've had this corroborated by another rumourmonger who said it fits in with what he heard of Dark Elves coming in 2013 and CAD images meaning they are usually 18-24 months or so away from production.

As always, until pictures are leaked or GW sends out an email treat it as rumour not fact. [/quote]

[quote=shabbadoo]Perhaps I missed it, but nobody has mentioned plastic Black Riders here yet? Would mentioning that be too predicable? Probably so, but it is an actually an older rumor than anything here. There may a long, long lead time on the Dark Elves project, seeing as there are so many plastic kits for them to do, so that old rumor could very well have been dumped upon simply because, seemingly, nothing ever came of it. There is no reason that a variety of kits couldn't already be done and are just being shelved until "THE BIG RELEASE" instead. It will be interesting to see what the date stamps are on the plastic kits that will be coming out for the Dark Elves.[/quote]

Harry said somewhere, that he is now uncertain if DE or Dwarfs will be the first army book in 2013, after Woc. Plus:
[quote=Harry]As far as I KNOW for sure Dwarves are not even scheduled. I have heard more about Dark Elves now than Dwarves. Dwarves could be 2 years away for all I KNOW. [/quote]

Seems like Raging Heroes is about to release a Regiment of Evil female Elves as well. There are rumours for a year, that Avatars of War is planning the same. The latter may be wishlisting though.

And remember, next release is still far in the future (first half 2013 probably).

Lord of the Rings new models per box ratio and price increase

I was browsing through the Games Workshop site ( as you do  ) and noticed that most of the Lord of the Rings Infantry box sets now only come with 12 models. ( 4 of each type of model, archer, warrior and warrior with shield )

They used to have twice that amount (24), not only have they decreased the amount per box but they have put the price up (surprise surprise). In Australia for the box of 24 it was $55 ( thats equal to 37 pounds or 60 American dollars ). Now for the 12 its $37 ( 25 pounds or 40 American dollars ) and there only 2 part snap together models.

What the heck was Games Workshop trying to do? There making it harder to have a resonable force and it would cost a heck of alot of money if your trying to play War of the Ring ( the larger version of the Strategy Battle game where you pay points for bases of 8 models ) and you would have to buy two boxes to be able to make a single base of each type.

For a new player to get into the game they would have to spend a load of money (and the starter set isn't even that good), with The Hobbit coming out soon there is likely to be atleast a few. At my FLGS I could get the box of 24 models for $38.50 ( $40 US or 25 pounds )and still can while the stocks last but when they run out and the new 12 model boxes replace them I'm going to have spend around double to get the same amount of models.

I'm sure some of you out there are just waiting for Lord of the Rings to die out, well its got its oportunity now.

In addition the new Finecrap command sets that are a being released are a whopping $66 dollars for 4 models ( $70 US or 45 pounds ). I dont see anyone buying those, most will probably try to get the remaining metals off ebay.

Has GW shot itself in the foot again? (its must be starting to look like cheddar cheese) What are your thoughts?

Seems like "Dark Millennium" is really in trouble this time

So awhile ago there was a rumor going round that THQ had cut the cord on Dark Millennium. THQ came out and said that they totally hadn't and that it was still in production.

Well now it looks a bit more dire.

Source http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/115677-THQ-Needs-Help-With-Warhammer-MMO

[quote]The ongoing trouble at THQ means the studio can no longer afford to launch the Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium MMO without outside help.

THQ revealed its third-quarter financial results for the 2012 fiscal year yesterday and as expected, the news is bad. The company suffered a net loss of roughly $56 million for the three months ending December 31, 2011, compared to a $15 million loss over the same period in 2010. THQ said that Saints Row: The Third and WWE '12 performed well but "sales of the uDraw GameTablet and related software, and other titles in the kids, family and casual category were far weaker than anticipated, substantially reducing our financial results for the quarter."

CEO Brian Farrell said THQ has a "strong multi-year pipeline of games" in the works, although most of it, aside from UFC Undisputed 3 and Darksiders 2, isn't slated to arrive until the end of the 2012 or early 2013. The Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online MMO, however, which was originally slated to land in 2013 has now been pushed back into an ill-defined "fiscal 2014 and beyond."

The reason, Farrell explained in a conference call to investors, is simply that the company can no longer afford to get the project off the ground without help. "While the game in development promises to be a high-quality consumer offering, because of the large financial commitment and associated risks, we are being realistic about our resources and we are actively seeking a partner for this compelling MMO," he said. "We will keep you updated on our progress."

MMOs are an expensive business and Dark Millennium is certainly no exception. In March 2011, THQ CFO Paul Pucino said the game would cost around $50 million to get to market. [/quote]

So who wants to invest in a company whose stock is below $1USD and is about to be delisted from the NASDQ?

Anyone?

Warhammer Forge Newsletter #22

[quote]

Hi there,
Warhammer Forge is taking on a greenish hue this week, as the mighty Orc Rogue Idol rampages its way onto pre-order. For those of you attending AdeptiCon 2012 we’ve also got details of our presence at this show as we are now taking reservation orders for this event.

Orc Rogue Idol
When greenskin tribes gather for war, foetid effigies depicting the Orc gods Gork and Mork will be constructed. Using rock, dung, old battle trophies and other detritus, these ‘statues’ are intended to bring the favour of Mork (or possibly Gork) to the Orcs and Goblins mustering in their shadow. Some are no more than a heap of stones or no larger than a chapel door, but when a Waaagh! is brewing they can grow to immense proportions, and become so infused with the greenskins’ lust for battle that they are roused into life and will lumber forth to crush and bludgeon the enemy.

If a Waaagh! is subsequently defeated, or the concentration of greenskin magic dissipates, the idol will lapse back into immobility. However, when a Storm of Magic rages across the Warhammer world these gigantic devotions to the greenskin gods may rise up again as a Rogue Idol, mindlessly attacking all in their way until the storm blows its course.

The Orc Rogue Idol resin kit, designed by Mark Bedford, is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 10th February. You can also download experimental rules for the Rogue Idol, taken from the next Warhammer Forge expansion, Monstrous Arcanum.

Warhammer Forge Events News:
AdeptiCon 2012, 19th to 22nd April, Westin Lombard Yorktown Center, Chicago
Forge World will again be attending AdeptiCon this year, and we’re excited to announce that we are now accepting reservation orders for this popular event. While we will be bringing a huge selection of our range of books, resin kits and modelling products, placing a reservation order is the best way to ensure that we have exactly what you want packed up and waiting for you at the show.

You can either telephone us on 011 44 115 900 4995, or send an e-mail entitled ‘AdeptiCon 2012 Reservation’ to forgeworldreservations@games-workshop.co.uk. We will need your name, a list of the items that you wish to order, and a contact e-mail address for yourself. In the week prior to the event, we will send you a confirmation e-mail containing your order number, details of any items that are unavailable, and a total cost in US$ (less local sales tax) that will be payable at the event.[/quote]

[img]http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Images/FW/rogueidolp8nl.jpg[/img]

The last thread can be found here : http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/373580.page

From the BL Blog

[quote]Thursday 2nd of February, 2012

THE HIGH LORDS OF TERRA CONVENE

Today there’s something big going on in the Black Library office. The authors of the Horus Heresy have convened for a top secret meeting that will determine the fate of millions.

Over the past few days, you have been posting your questions on our Facebook page; here’s what they had to say.

How hard is it, as authors, reigning in artistic licence when bringing to life something that has been rigidly laid down in Warhammer 40,000 lore since its inception?

Graham McNeill: Part of the fun is that it’s not that rigid.

Dan Abnett: There is a lot of material to draw on and it’s about respecting that while trying to find the angle that you want to approach it from.

Graham McNeill: There are established events like Calth and Prospero that people know a bit about, but we can add in things that you didn’t know, so that you come away knowing more than you did before.

There have been hints at how the Grey Knights were founded, any chance of a full story into how the Inquisition was established and the great secret behind the ‘I’?

James Swallow: I was deliberately subtle with this, perhaps too subtle, as everyone seems to miss it. Malcador’s symbol was an eye, and that is what Garro wears on his shoulder. I was playing around with the fact that it is impossible to tell the difference between ‘eye’ and ‘I’ when you are listening to an audio drama. I was interested in exploring the concept of things twisting and changing over time.

As for the Grey Knights, Garro and the Knights Errant are the root of the chapter, but there is a long way to go before they become what we now know. I like to think that Codex: Grey Knights contains the very end of their creation myth, while the Garro series explores the very beginning.

How much does fan interaction help or hinder your own writing process?

James Swallow: I like talking to fans, because I am a fan of so many things myself, so I can really relate to their excitement and enthusiasm. I regularly drop into my local Games Workshop Hobby Centre and chatting to the staff and customers there can reinvigorate my passion and enthusiasm for my writing.

What, of all the things written, both by yourself or others, have you found to be the most heart-rending or soul searching of events or characters within the Heresy?

Graham McNeill: I definitely had a lump in my throat when Torgaddon died.

Gav Thorpe: Corax’s single tear in Raven’s Flight as he realises the galaxy has changed and doesn’t know where he fits in it anymore.

Dan Abnett: I don’t have a specific event, but I love the fact that, before he falls, Horus Lupercal is such a likeable character. It makes it much more tragic when he does turn.

James Swallow: I really liked the moment in Flight of the Eisenstein when the planet is virus bombed and Temeter nobly sacrifices himself.

Do you find it difficult to write scenes for the Primarchs because of their powerful stature in the Warhammer 40,000 universe?

Dan Abnett: I actually find it easier than writing dialogue for Space Marines. Primarchs are superhuman, but Space Marines seem to straddle both worlds. I suppose writing about superheroes for so long helps a bit.

James Swallow: You have to remember to be epic, but not all the time. You have to be able to give them depth.

Will you ever do a book from the Emperor’s point of view?

Dan Abnett: We have been tempted, but we don’t think it would work. The Emperor exists in both the warp and reality simultaneously… how do you even approach writing that?

Gav Thorpe: Throughout the series, you see many facets of the Emperor, but you never truly know what he thinks. If we did try, it might ruin the mystery behind him.

James Swallow: He’s a truly alien character, beyond trans-human.

Can the last line in the last Heresy book be “I was there the day the Emperor killed Horus”?

Dan, Gav, Graham, James: Maybe *laughs*

Thanks guys, I’ll let you get back to work now.

The latest Horus Heresy book, Know No Fear, is available now, and in June we will continue this epic saga with The Primarchs, an anthology of four novellas, each dealing with one (or in one case, two) of the Emperor’s sons.

Finally, join us tomorrow on the blog where we will spend some time with the sons of Fenris as we slip the leash and unleash Lone Wolves on the world.[/quote]

[img]http://www.blacklibrary.com/Images/BL/blog/2012/02/HH-AUTHORS.jpg[/img]

Looks like we've found the picture we'll use for the next Dakka Dakka caption competition too.

D&D Skirmish "Dungeon Command" Pre-Orders on Amazon

This is old-ish news for RPGers but I hadn't seen anything on Dakka.

Three "expansion packs" listed so far on Amazon:

STING OF LOLTH - July 17: "Sting of Lolth includes such heroic miniatures as assassin, arachnomancer, sorcerer, spiders, and spiderguards."
http://www.amazon.com/Dungeon-Command-Dungeons-Expansion-Miniatures/dp/0786960175/ref=pd_ys_ir_all_29

HEART OF CORMYR - July 17: "Heart of Cormyr includes such heroic miniatures as ranger, rogue, knight, defenders, and warriors."
http://www.amazon.com/Dungeon-Command-Dungeons-Expansion-Miniatures/dp/078696023X/ref=pd_bxgy_b_text_b

TYRANNY OF GOBLINS - August 21: [i]no description as of yet[/i]
http://www.amazon.com/Dungeon-Command-Dungeons-Expansion-Miniatures/dp/0786960442/ref=pd_ys_ir_all_30

According to WotC:[quote]Each Dungeon Command faction comes in its own box, containing twelve miniatures (plus the cards, tiles, and rules for the game). In addition to their use in Dungeon Command, these miniatures can also be used in the D&D RPG, with their cards further usable with D&D Adventure System board games (Castle Ravenloft, Wrath of Ashardalon, and The Legend of Drizzt). While each faction is meant to be played by a single player, quick-start rules allow two players to engage in a shortened version of the game using only one box.[/quote]MSRP for all 39.99USD. No pics as of yet.

Some more info:[quote=Rodney Thompson]The upcoming miniatures skirmish board game is called Dungeon Command, and we had an open playtest for its system in the latter half of 2011 that yielded some great results. Thanks again to all of you who participated in the playtest, as you really helped us make the game better! The game will be sold in faction packs, each of which contains everything that one player needs to play the game. This includes twelve non-random, thematically linked pre-painted miniatures, plus the cards and tiles you need to play the game.

The first two packs are Heart of Cormyr, consisting of adventurers and heroes from Cormyr, and Sting of Lolth, consisting of drow forces and their spider minions. Soon afterward, we will have Tyranny of Goblins, which consists of goblinoid creatures and their allies. In addition to having a story theme, each faction also has a game mechanical theme that causes it to play slightly differently than other factions. For example, the drow focus on mobility and treachery, while the adventurers have a broader base of abilities but work well with other adventurers. Goblins are easy to get out onto the battlefield, and swarm over your opponent.

We've got a few other expansion packs in the works, and as more packs come out players will be able to combine the creatures and cards from those packs to build their own warbands, which should give the game a lot of replay value as you come up with your own combinations of creatures, pick the right orders to issue to them, and choose a commander for your force.[/quote]http://www.wizards.com/DnD/Article.aspx?x=dnd/4ro3/20120131

Horus Heresy movie in the works from Codex Pictures?

Here is a very rumoury rumour based entirely on observation by myself.

The latest Horus Heresy black library video for Know no Fear:
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vGuRgSvvpI[/youtube]

At about 1:05 it plays an audio clip of someone stating that the imperium is finished and Horus is rising. The style of the recording (accent, quality, effect) is very similar to that done by Codex Pictures for the Ultramarines movie. Codex pictures and relic/thq are then thanked at the end of the clip (1:38). Previous Horus Heresy book videos have thanked THQ and Relic so they seem to have some part in the existing videos, but this is the first time Codex Pictures have been thanked.

It would also be a logical choice as Codex Pictures previously stated that the Ultramarines movie was marine vs marine to save on 3D modelling expenses, so this would allow them to make a much better movie with focus on scenery and animation now that their space marine models are largely completed (in terms of animation, etc) from the first movie. Perhaps GW have a bit of guilt from barely promoting ultramarines at all as well.

UPDATE:
pretty definitive argument against it being too likely from StraightSilver below:
[quote]Codex pictures are involved in a nasty legal dispute with Anchor Bay entertainment right now, and are considering liquidating the company, so at present there are definitely no plans for Codex Pictures to make another movie of any sort right now.

However that doesn't stop them liquidating that company and creating another one, after all Codex Pictures were set up to create Ultramarines, so there's no reason they couldn't call themselves Heresy Pictures or something, but certanly right now they aren't working on anything. [/quote]

Victrix 28mm plastic Greek Hoplites preview

Whew, looks like victrix is finally getting their stuff sorted out with the greek hoplites. They have an estimated release time of April/May for these guys. I hope it sticks, for the record we have seen development on the greeks since late 2010 and they were expected to come out soon after the Austrians.

[quote]Our Ancient Greek sets are being worked on at present and we thought we would give you a brief update and show off some images of these great figures.

We are looking at the first set being released around April/may. If all goes well the Athenian set could be out for Salute, but if not very shortly after. We are going to have a staggered release with the Greeks as it solves production problems. So it will be Athenians, Spartans, Thebans and then Mercenaries. With a 2 to 3 week gap between each set.

Each set will contain 48 figures with so many variations possible it is hard to count them all. Interchangeable heads with separate crests. Arm positions including thrusting, at rest and sword arms. We also have cloaks to add to figures and musician arms to make your command figures. The spears are cast separate to the hands so you can replace them with metal spears if you wish. However the plastic spears will be more flexible and less prone to breaking off than metal.

At present we are showing some positions possible with the Athenians, Spartans and Thebans. We will follow up with some more photos’ soon ( It takes Julian a long time to piece all the options together and photograph them, so he deserves a break for a week!)

Below are some images of the master resin castings. We hope you like them. We are really happy with the way they look and can’t wait for these to be released. We do have plans for more Greek and Ancient releases to follow these.[/quote]

[img]http://www.victrixlimited.com/images/ATHENIANS1A.jpg[/img]
[img]http://www.victrixlimited.com/images/SPARTANS1A.jpg[/img]
[img]http://www.victrixlimited.com/images/THEBANS1A.jpg[/img]
