It will need to be strong to hold the arms/wings and it should be hollow to house the batteries I'm going to need to run the lights. I decided on plexiglass for the main body since I have TONS of the stuff lying around after the warlord build, and its strong enough to support the weight.
First step is to cut out four sets of the main hull.

Then cut them to the right length.

The cockpit even has lights.
The head started life as one of those over sized Easter eggs.
The back opens up and it can hold 200 guardsmen, and 8 chimeras can fit in each leg.

First I build a master mold by gluing the originals to a box I then poured mold material into the box and vacuumed the whole thing in a vaccume chamber:

Symbio Joe - The pressure pot has 3 $75 attachments on it, and it costs $80. The vaccume machine was $180, the glass jar was from big lots for $10, the table was scratch built so roughly $25 there. The resin is $90 for a gallon of parts A and B. Well after some tests I found out that the two 8lb magnets were not enough.

I'm currently building a warhound myself, so I'm getting an idea for one's size. To my knowledge, the FW one is 10.5" tall so that's what I'm aiming for myself. From your pics I'm getting the feeling that yours will be slightly larger, but it's just a guess, that's why I was asking.


As for the barrels, do you have a second tube to go in the one you just inserted? I think it will look best if you make two outer layers flush and have a third center layer protrude a bit. IMO it will give it a very solid look.

If you are concerned about the extra weight overtaxing your motor, I wouldn't worry. Besides, you don't need to run the full length of the barrels. I don't have any pics posted yet as I'm not terribly far along yet. I'm working from the ground up and am on my second leg now. I'm going with an old school look and am basing it off of the original epic scale model. If I get finished with what I'm working on I'll probably post something later tonight.

I can understand the all or nothing bit for the barrel inserts, but it is shooting tiny rounds (for a titan) so I don't think that the smaller bore is out of place. The Vulcan should look more like a bunch of autocannons strapped together than a bundle of battle cannons. Of course it's your call, but I would like to see how it looks with the additional insert in place. I wasn't talking about just any robot though. I was thinking of getting one of those WowWee quadroped robots that will walk after things of it's own volition, then modding up a semi-auto airsoft gun with a simple servo to fire it. Strap on a laser pointer for a sight, and try to peg the bloody rabbits that keep eating our plants. Unfortunately, I am not convinced of the robot's ability to walk in my yard. Perhaps an RC tank or something...

Wehrkind - I saw one of those robots at radioshack the other day. I think it'd make a cool conversion. I thought about applying a skin to the "robo raptor" and use it as a biotitan but thats alot of work.

akira5665 - LOL, I don't think I can support children on the wages my FLGS pays. I've never wanted a job from GW or FW. If you're forced to build models it kind of takes the fun out of it.

Anung Un Rama - I think he ment Lucasfilm or ILM. No the plasma gun isn't going to be just 1 color. I think its pretty cool with the strobing effect. I'll get a video uploaded tonight so y'all can see it in action.

snorkle - Its so cool the bolter actually sounds like a minigun revving up. The plasma is done except for paint and purity seals.

Boss_Salvage - I've burned throught about 6 AA batteries just revving the gun up and imagining it spraying infantry. The rods are from a little light stick thing. I think they were originally made for ravers, I picked them up a wholesale place for like $2 for the lot of 'em. The 2 on the ends glow the same color (and blink REALLY fast) the middle changes color as well but its alot slower so its kind of "trippy".

I don't like the plasma arm. It obviously represents a lot of great work (way beyond my ability) but is not to my taste. I like the more classic GW look for plasma weaponry.

drunkorc - How's your casting coming? In the last mega game I ran I faced off against a great gargant, a stompa, 2 warhounds, and 3 baneblades.
I figured that the warlord needed a bit of help against all the other super heavy scratch builds in my area. And these fit on the table alot better.

Boss_Salvage - The barrels are retractable because it was almost tea easy not to. While building them I they kept falling in and out of the receipt paper rolls, and I noticed they looked cool extend and contracted,
so I added another tube in there and vwalla.

Whats the price on one of thouses thing lol - seriously what is it costing you to build it and how much do you think your gonna spend, i proly aint the only one to buy one if you go into bussness makeing and selling these, i know you carnt becuase you dont want games work shop legal team after you but still if i could i would buy one!

This is the best moderling / conversion, or anything 40k realted i have seen yet! i gonna keep an eye on any more scatch bulds you do they be ace even if you buld them blind folded!
