Does anyone know whether GW have stopped producing the Phalanx set with two monoliths?

I can't find it on the online store or ebay (the US ebay appears to have some though)

I think they sold out, or just didn't sell enough so stopped making them.

I beleive the UK site (don't like the new layout) said they were out of stock last time I checked

nah, just nasty economy, buying for Apoc will have slowed down now, so there's no need for all the big box sets. besides lots of the Online prices are wrong, £35 for a warrior set, over my dead body!

:O it was disgusting last year at Games Day, they had masses upon masses of SM stuff, but very little Necron stuff and almost no ork stuff lol

Well thats because Orks were to be re-released, if I've got my dates right, and Necrons aren't one of the Most popular armies. Oh, and it seems GW expects everyone to play SM's, they practically love the *%!? things!
I'd laugh so hard if no one collected them from now on

lol, literally I was in GW Reading, a 10-12 year old lad with his mum walks in saying he's interested in 40K.

Where does the store assistant take him? None other than the SM shelves

They beleive it to be a great Starter army, just because of good stats. So why not Chaos Marines? Or Necrons? they have good stats too. It all comes down to money, SM's have a large range, and so can be used to sell more ie

Store person: "Have you finished your SM army yet?"

Customer: "Yeh, I think so"

Store: "Have you seen these new rereleased tactical people?"

Customer: "I must get them, jsut because theyre space marines, and I haven't got them yet"

And of course because people wnat to build a whole Chapter, which makes GW even more money!

Based on 20 years of selling the stuff....

Explaining SM's is easy. Good guys saving the universe. Easy to get started with MacCragge. Easy to put together.

Explaining Necrons is easy. Evil robots that want to kill everything. Putting together necrons is a pain in the ass. Small fidly bits that break easy. Lots of kids buy necrons as a starter army, and lots of parents scream about having to put them together.

Explaining chaos gets a bit tricky. "Now Jimmy, pick an evil power to worship. Do you like Slaughter, Depravity, Rotting Plague, or Sorcery?" Models aren't bad to put together, but more bitz than SM.

Of the 3, SM are easiest to put together, have a starter box, and easier for a bigginer to play.

Its villain everythime, really, they get to do what they want and answer to no-one! Well except their gods...
Besides when people first start collecting, well, litle kids at leats, they just want cool looking models, and so couldn't care less about what chaos gods to worship!

I just saw Phalanx set for sale on the GW US site this morning. Go into the Apocolypse section and a lot of sets are available (including the Eldar Wind Rider host I thought was unavailable).

Since when are space marines the good guys? Both my csm and eldar think that they're evil bastards, and they never agree on anything.

On topic, I think all those old sets are coming back for apoc round 2.

Well Chaos would think they're evil, they go along as well as, *pauses*, something that doesn't get along well... sorry, but I couldn't think of a good example. They're mainly thought of as good as they protect the humans, and most people like humans...

And I wouldn't call the sets old...yet

lol, i'm gona paint them similar to my necrons, the main parts will be scab red, with the raised cornery bits in red gore, then there'l be highlighting of the edges and grooves with blood red

on another topic, who can the Necrons justificably ally with in a doubles torny? (except other Necrons ofc )

Fluff wise-possobly Mech imperial armies with Tech priests. its hard to justify anyone really, what with the Hatred of all life and such.

For doubles it saddly has to be other Necrons.

And between you- you need 1 HQ (can, take second)
2 Troops
Not 1 HQ and 2 troops each

From there if I remember correctly you can take 1 of each Hvy, Elite, fast beore taking a second of each. ie no 2 hvy's, and no fast or Elite

sadly no, but one should be sufficient to do the damage. remember in 5th ed the rumour is one vehicle damage chart, and glancings cant destroy vehicles! So onl;t strength 9/10 weapons can hurt us really!

As far as I know the Necron redo isn't in the Pipeline yet, besides unless they Nerf the Land raider, I can't see them doing the Same to the Monolith, it is after all meant to be the best tank in the galaxy really, being living metal and all

dont put lascannons etc in your basic 10man squads like I used to do- the squads are fodder

Also, dont bother kitting the guard up too much with upgrades, they'l still die like flys. Concentrate on getting lots of men on the board with some nice Leman Russes.

I've found a small squad of Ogryns in a Chimera can often find a weak flank and completely mess up the enemy, so these may be worth investing in.

My ratlings tend to die fast wherether I infiltrate them, not a good investment

Necrons working for the Deceiver have been known to help out humans, though not necessarily ally with them directly. Was one of the missions in the Cadian Gate Campaign, where Necrons came to the aid of an out numbered Imperial army.

That's precisely why you must take the lascannon. Fodder is useless without something to protect that actually does the job.
