And it's really got me thinking about how much more we as a community could help put together some fun rules and scenarios, akin to what Bell of Lost Souls has done with 40k. (Great guys btw!)

So my question is What games do folks here on Dakka play or own armies/warbands for? Or have always wanted to play, but never finished assembling that $50 Warmaster Box you bought?

AI is becoming more and more popular down in Austin. A bunch of folks got fleets and have been playin it up. The only issue I have with AI is that the models are FW only. Which sort of limits my interest. They are fairly easy to paint and assemble, though the usual caveats regarding resin models still apply.

And you don't have to use Forgeworld models. You can use the Epic models for things like Thunderbolts and Fighta-Bombas, etc. You just need to record the altitude and speed each turn.

We usually set aside about 6 weeks a year for a Mordheim campaign, which usually culminates in a big, scripted free-for-all battle.

I got one of my buddies to drag out his warmaster army about a year ago, we played a couple of games and got our fix for the next little while.

Most of my gaming group has played Hulk before, but years ago, and I'm the only one who currently owns a full copy of it. BFG is something that I think I'm the only one of the bunch to have played, so that'll be an introductory session to show them what I still think is GW's best-written game.

The basic rulebook is fairly sound, particularly Necroumunda - all of the basic gangs are essentially the same, varying only in upgrade paths.

Mordheim is more ambitious, which opens the door to more imbalances.

I don't think GW did too much playtesting with Outlanders or Town Cryer additions. If it were up to me, I'd simply outlaw Ratskins and Beastmen.

I suppose you're right. I blew all my crowns on a Minotaur when I played Beastmen! I can't say that I regretted it, though. That bull can chew (literally!) through half a warband!

I like the fact that for the most part, games take about 30 minutes or so (BFG, Historicals notwithstanding), so our group, with limited time, can get a few games in an evening.

I also prefer the lower model counts to make it easier for me to paint them up.

If I were to do Necro (which we might start soon), I'd use =I= minis (28mm), and use the Van Saar rules to run them (proxies). That way I have my aesthetic, and its still within the rules.
