Well we're planning out the final bits of our Vegas trip, and we'd like to know...what events (if any) will be occurring on Friday?

Like will there be a 40k teams game like last year?

Any details available on this?

Besides, he lives near Vegas. Once you've lived there awhile, Vegas can be repetative. I would rather play in a tournament than hit the strip - but then again, I'm a geek.

Vegas is boring.

I grew up in Philly, so I had Atlantic City to figure out Casinos' are a ripoff.

Vegas is just a shinier ripoff.

And I'm not taking family, so the family oriented side is pretty boring too.

If it makes you feel better, we'll hit the Star Trek experience and Quarks for sure. Besides that, got any good geek stuff to go do?

Which vegas have you been too? Those chicks are always fugly. I mean, can't you hire someone without a gut and their brown roots showing?

For the record, I've been to Vegas on business over a dozen times in the last 2 years. Best place: Nine Fine Irishmen in New York, New York. Trust me, get their early, have dinner and stay until Ri Ra comes on!

Ed, I wasn't clear. I was referring to hiring the "models" that appear on the billboard trucks, not the actual hookers themselves (BTW, Dave Taylor is never going to post in this thread now).

Hi Stelek

Yep, we'll be running Friday afternoon events at all the Grand Tournaments. The doubles events in Vegas last year were very popular, so I expect we'll run those specifically in Vegas and probably at the other two as well.

We hope to have GT registration rolling by 12 noon and the Doubles events running by 2pm.

Do you know if you are going to change the force org charts like Adepticon, or are you still going with 2, 1000 point armies? The reason why is that if you have 6 falcons in one army it is a bit much.

Considering that Atlantic City and Vegas are about as different as New York and Las Angeles. Both serve the purpose of gambling but there is so much more that Vegas has to offer than Atlantic City does. Trust me on this I grew up in Atlantic City and still have a place down there. Only recently have they been getting Vegas style activities at the Casinos there.

As one of my friends told me, Vegas is the place that you can go to where things that would be considered to be Taboo or Socialy Unacceptable any where else are considered to be common place in Vegas.

Ed is right if you are going to Vegas there are plenty of other things to do than play in a team tournament or gamble.

When it all comes down to it there are pleanty of things to do there and if you have a group of friends to do it with it is just that much better.

So anyway about the force org, is it the 0-2 elite/heavy/fast or is it actually split between your armies how you want it (like how I'm doing in my tournament)?

We haven't finalized the details but I expect it'll be like this:

Each player brings:

1 HQ
0-1 Elites
1-3 Troops
0-1 Fast Attack
0-1 Heavy Support

Then, between the two of them they may determine the distribution of the remaining 1 Elite, 1 Fast Attack, and 1 Heavy Support.

Once their armies are combined they'll have

2 HQ
0-3 Elites
2-6 Troops
0-3 Fast Attack
0-3 Heavy Support

We didn't run into people with multiple FOC running anything I'd characterize as abusive.

A couple of twits maybe, but having lots of crap isn't necessarily good or abusive.

Maybe that is why I get a good sportsmanship score and you end up with the worst.

Timing is always a fun issue.

Just talking about the Friday evening here. I think we'd go for 2 hour rounds and a half hour break between games. That'll close that Doubles Tourney out around 9:30 pm, giving plenty of time for drinking, gambling, seeing the Pirate show out the front of Treasure Island, or squeezing in another game.

Stelek & I teamed up for last year's doubles - we won 20-0, lost 0-20, won 20-0. Bi-polar play. We had no issues with time, lol.

Other than the 3 games all being the same mission (Gamma Cleanse, FTL), it was incredibly fun - I highly recommend playing in it. I probably had more fun that day than the rest of the GT (not because the GT sucked, I just really enjoyed the doubles).
