A Canonness heads an Order Militant

The leaders of the Sisters of Battle, Palatines and Canonesses are selected from among the most skilled and most faithful members of their Order. On the field of Battle, she is the highest commander, while her roles away from campaign include leading the spiritual well-being of her Sisters and managing the administration of the order.

Special Rules and Wargear

• Independent Character.
• Faithful.
• Adepta Sororitas.

Upgrades

• The basic heroine is a Palatine, but she may be upgraded to a Canoness.
• May take a retinue of Celestians.

Strengths

1. With the right wargear and the use of Acts of Faith, she can maintain a 2+ Invulnerable and be immune to Instant Death.
2. She can be equipped to become a highly-effective anti-tank/anti-Independent Character unit.

Weaknesses

1. She comes with no default equipment.
2. Despite having high Ballistic Skill, she has no decent gun options.
3. Possessing low Strength and Toughness, combined with average Weapon Skill and Initiative, she is quite vulnerable.
4. While she can be tooled to be devastating in close combat, this requires a significant wargear investment, and she is still vulnerable to being swamped by low-quality troops.
5. The Palatine is inferior to the Canoness for very few points less, making her a redundant option.
