Sisters of Battle Special Rules

These rules are particular to the Sisters of Battle in the 3rd Edition Witch Hunters Codex for Warhammer 40,000.

Shield of Faith

  • Any psyker powers targeting or effecting even a single model with the Adepta Sororitas rule can be nullified.
  • Units with the Adepta Sororitas rule are not killed outright by Force Weapons, which work only as Power Weapons against them.

Acts of Faith

  • Every Faithful model or unit adds one, or sometimes more, Faith Points to the army's pool.
  • Martyrdom: when a Faithful model or unit is defeated, a number of Faith Points equal to the initial amount the generates is added to the army's pool.
  • Acts of Faith may only be used by units with the Adepta Sororitas rule containing at least one model with the Faithful rule. If they are joined by an Independent Character who does not have the Adepta Sororitas rule and is not a Priest, they cannot perform Acts of Faith. They can perform an Act of Faith when joined by a Priest, but he does not benefit from the effect.
  • Attempting to perform an Act of Faith consumes one Faith Point. The attempt is performed by rolling 2D6 and comparing this number with the number of models in the unit, or the Leadership characteristic in the case of a lone Independent Character. Multiple Acts of Faith may be attempted by the same unit in the same phase, but the same unit may not attempt the same Act more than once in a single phase.
  • The Acts of Faith are:
    • Hand of the Emperor: the unit increase their strength, but swing last.
    • Divine Guidance: any 6s to wound by this unit count at AP1/Power Weapon attacks.
    • The Passion: the unit increases their initiative; cannot be combined with Hand of the Emperor.
    • Light of the Emperor: the unit becomes Fearless; if the unit is fleeing, they automatically regroup.
    • Spirit of the Martyr: the unit gains invulnerable saves equal to their armour saves, which may not be combined with other saves.
