Hello, I'm Hawky and welcome to my P&M blog, Enginseer's Workshop. Here you can see a various painting, kitbashing or conversion projects mainly for my Imperial Guard, however, it's not limited to it, as I also own the Adeptus Mechanicus, Adepta Sororitas, and Inquisition.

My first project is an Ostrakan pattern Armoured Battlemech. Ostrakan is a name of a Civilised/Fortress world in Europa solar system, located on the edge of the Garon Nebula in Segmentum Tempestus.
It is my home and when I'm not on active duty, usually attached to 4th Neutran Panzer Division, I'm in my workshop committing tech-heresy. You might think that I'm a Heretek and you might be right, but because we are separated from the Imperium for few thousand years now, things are bit more... liberal. But that's a long story for another time.

So, I've an old Sentinel for a funny price and because i hate the original concept, I have been searching for ideas. Original tought was an tracked remote-controlled drone, but I lack the needed parts, so I had to make up a new concept. I came up with a battlemech. Here it is... It's still a prototype thou.


The Machine spirit wasn't happy about my work, it even started to sabotage my progress, but it calmed down when I reminded it that I'm the one with access to power switch. I hope it gets used to its new abilities.

Entry #2.1:

Hello again chaps, your Enginseer here. I want to show you the snapshot of progress I made last few days.
Note that the machine isn't complete yet, but It's mostly operational.
Most work have to be done on cosmetics and proper markings. Oh, hey, and the Hunter-Killer missile, which I forgot to install.



Please, don't get me wrong as I previously said that we are separated from the Imperium. We are still loyal, don't worry. The main problem is that our system, Europa, was colonised during Garon Nebula Crusade, which, as you know, didn't go very well. Original role we had to perform was to repair and maintan the Navy. As ships departed and none of them came back, the situation changed. After some time, we decided to colonise the rest of the system. And it happend.
Why I'm writing this you ask? It's simple. Ships departed and never came back, no new orders or sitreps from the battleground. After many years of scilence and unsuccessful attempts to contact anybody, we just presumed they forgot about us, or just retreated and kept us to our own fate. We pay no tithe to the Imperim, nobody controlls or supervises us and in terms of defence, we are also on our own.
Stay calm, our goverment is making the best it can to secure as much as possible. And it's partially my job either, as I took the old Sentinel design and made an universal platform out of it, now able to perform almost any role without major recostructing, as it was needed with the old design. Handling was also improved by more powerful cogitators and aiming is also assisted by a computer. It's no longer manual.

That's a nice little kitbash/scratch build. Like the arms. Lots of potential with the sentinal kit, I'll have to have a play one day

The arms were the real struggle. How to make it as it would work in reality. But wait, this is reality, isn't it?
Mechanical arms which moves like human beings are pretty difficult to create and maintain. And in this situation, this solution is acceptable.

Entry #3:

Welcome again, I have a great news for you. Today, my team ended working on the latest project.
I have to say thanks to my team. Specially to the "Tech-Servitor No. 52248686550", who is a great aide.

The mech is ready for field testing, which will happen in 3 days. 4th Neutran Armoured has a training mission in our holographig training facility, with enemy set to: "random".
I'll give you a report how it went.

Entry #4:

Hello again. The central command ordered to recruit new cadets. They are training one squad so far.
They are called Stosstruppen and are trained to advance alongside armoured support.
(for Armoured Shield formation from Start Collecting! set)


We also reequiped all our Gunnery Sergeants with new armament. This is a medium machinegun firing custom forged AP cartridges. It has firepower comparable to Heavy Bolter.
Manufacturing process is difficult, that's why only a handful of people has access to this piece.


We needed something to mark objectives in our training arena, so I made this. The man is animated hologram. Third is in process of painting and it is disabled Heavy Bolter nest.


And a last one, a Tech-Servitor No. 52248686550 holding a gas welder. My great aide.

I'm prototyping new mechanical wings for this lovely lady. It is inspired by Corvus Coraxs own personal wings. I'm going to vacation for a few weeks to visit a fellow Enginseer, so expect no new views. Take care and don't worship Chaos.

I decided to present you some of my older creations, which are now in active service. Don't mind the Tauros, it's the basic design and I just tought ou would want to see it.

I also have an Executioner under construction. It's called Thunderfury. Turret is mostly complete, but there are complications with the hull. Cooling mechanisms and safe gas-storagem to be more precise.

Here is also one of my older creation, and I'm dare enough to claim, it's my best so far. The Avenger Strike Fighter, piloted by F/L. Blake. No: 144, nicknamed "Great White Hunter"
This thing was salvaged by a transport ship merged into the Space Hulk which floated around Europa (my home system).







I wanted to add some little animal (Fox, wolf, goat or something) to the base, but anything I found was too expensive for what it is.
Also the signal can be switched. Red, green, white or dual orange. Unfortunately only one signal can be on. It's powered by 2.5V button battery and it has not enough power to supply more.

Just a look at the first wing I made. There is still alot of work to do, polishing, cementing and assembly of holding mechanism on Celestine's back.
Second wing is in early stage of constructing and the mechanism is being drafted...

Wings are complete. It required alot of precise work and tuning, but it's done.
They are symetrical (almost), now only thing is to paint it and attach is to the Celestine's back, using magnet (for practical reasons).

Just another piece of fine machinery, made by the Adeptus Mechanicus. √9 times "01101000 01101111 01101111 01110010 01100001 01111001" for us.



Note that is roughly resembles the sign of Aquila.

It's done!
Celestine is happy that she's finally able to travel in style. Rocket-assisted Wings are working as intended and it also looks elegant. And intimidating.
Just take a look.





It also casts pretty nice shadow.

Tho whole story behind this started when the Celestine personally came to the Adeptus Mechanicus with a request for a unique piece of equptment. She told us that she wants a piece of gear that allows her to fly, because she frequently acompany herselves with Serafims and when they were deployed together, her basic equipment werent sufficent.
So we came with this design. The wings are working as any other bird's wings (they are less effective, of course, they are mechanical, made out of lightweight metal) and the whole thing is rocket-assisted for some extra power. We made it in shape of the Aquila, because... well, do I have to explain?

Welcome back, loyal subjects of the God-Emperor.
Some time ago, I had a request from the highest places, of which I'm not allowed to elaborate, to create an exquisite piece of wargear for single man.

Time has passed and now this folder has been un-classified. I've got a request to make a custom-forged anti-material rifle for a spec-ops operative.
Major König, you might have heard of him. He's one of the best, but his fate us currently unknown. (Maybe he's playing Blackjack with Marbo)

The rifle is semi automatic, long-ranged anti-material sniper rifle, firing 0.75 calibre custom forged rounds. Three are used most commonly. Armor-piercing Incendiary , High velocity Anti-tank and Incendiary Plasma rounds for piercing energy shields. There are many other types, but not used as frequently. (Airburst fragmentation, Breacher round, Incendiary explosive, High-explosive delayed...)

Anyway, here you can see few pictures of him, made for propaganda purposes.

Thank you sir. Pity is that my pict-siezer is not working right now. Pictures would be alot better. Handheld capturing device is sufficent, but not ideal, as you can see.

Something about the subject:
Major König was a head tutor of sniper school on a military academy and sometimes he's deployed with small group of other operators on a covert-mission. Enemies of the Imperim are never asleep...

Ranks of the Neutran 4th recived new reinforcement in form of a Ministorum Priest. Sound of his accordion fills hearths of the soldiers witn courage and resolve to remove the enemies of the Emperor.

Really loving the conversions you've done! The fluffy snippets in between are a joy to read, too

Here you can see new Autocannon team, consisting out of Cpl. Hardt and Pvt. Lanark. Unfortunately, they lost their heads in the heat of battle. Heads will be replaced with next shippment of Stahlhelms.
(Now seriously, I expetimented with the lying guardsman. Used ton of GS in the process, but it looks at least acceptable.)

Hello again, Tech-priest here. The concil of Magi here on Ostrakan approved to de-classify the most common weapon variants to the wider public. Though if you want to see them, status of Citizen is required. Plans are not avalible for Civilians. Publishing or providing weapon plans is prohibited and if declared guilty, punished by lifetime imprisonent and forced labor in mines.

Ostrakan pattern Lasrifle - Mk II Heavy


Mk II Heavy lasrifle is a high-power weapon powered by backpack power source and is usually provided within two variants. Visually they are identical, main difference it it's firing mechanism. Both variants are issued to the Grenadier squads.
1) Designated Marksman rifle - discharge generator is modified to provide more energy in single pulse, resulting in more powerful shot. This design cannot operate in automatic mode. Optical scope is not included. Contact your quartermaster officier.
2) Battle rifle - discharge generator can provide less powerful discharges, but at stable rate of fire for prolonged periods of time. Note that the heatsink in front of the handguard can reach temperatures high enough to cause serious injury. Proper trigger discipline and advanced training is required to effectively operate this weapon. Weapon is not suited for use by personnel without specialised training.

Ostrakan patern Lasrifle - FG 12


FG12 is lightweight but still potent firearm, designed for paratroopers and special operatives. It's strudy construction can withstand rough handling and simple construction makes maintenance quick and easy. Weapon can operate in semi or full auto mode and is equipped with power selector, allowing the user to conserve energy when needed.
Bipod and the optical gunsight is default part of the weapon. Accessories can be removed or replaced.

Ostrakan pattern MAW 25 (Medium Automatic Weapon)


MAW 25 is a standard issue weapon for SAW gunner in every Grenadier squad. Rotary discharge generator, which is located in the drum, is able to provide very high rate of fire for prolonged periods of time. Inbuilt fan blades provide air flow through the drum, cooling down the rotary discharge generator.
Weapon lacks fire mode selector (safety lock is still present) and power selector. Weapon is locked in automated fire only, firing low power shots at very high rate of fire.
Proper trigger discipline and advanced training is required to effectively operate this weapon. Weapon is not suited for use by personnel without specialised training.

Ostrakan pattern Tundra 29 heavy assault shotgun


Tundra 29 is a non-energy firearm capable of firing various types of ammunition*, which are in limited numbers provided to the squad before deployment. Standard issue ammunition are pellet shells. Lethal to unarmored or lightly armored enemy units at closer ranges.
Drum capacity is 45 rounds, rate of fire 90 r/m. User can manually insert individual shells into the magazine through firing chamber. This makes it easier to load the weapon with specialised ammo without removing the magazine entierly. Gun can operate in semi-auto or fully automatic fire, but note that weapon is prone to jamming when long bursts on fully automatic mode is being fired.

*Incomplete list of specialised ammunitions:
- Incendiary shells
- Solid projectile shells
- Flechette shells
- Concussion shells (non-lethal)
- Rocked assisted armor-piercing
- High explosive fragmentation shells
- Electroshock shells
- Augur shells

I really like that MAW25 conversion. These look like actual weapons that would come in a Guard kit.

They do look better with the lasgun part replaced with autogun part. Pity that I had only one autogun.

Just found this by chance to be honest but great conversion ideas especially the fore mentioned shotgun, that truly look so much better and as I have plenty lying around I will be making some nice idea indeed.

Hello! After a long pause I'm again reporting here. I have been busy forming the first Beastman unit the Europan army. Note that they are somewhat different from the usual beastmen you can see in every Uplifting Primer. Theese "people" were actually sanctified as a ab-humans. You might admit that beastmen are filthy mutants and should be all killed and I agree, but beastmen from Zoyra are NOT of Chaotic origins. They were created during the Keeling's bloody reign and his genetic experimentation, which should have created supersoldiers, but he didn't succseed.
Many specimens died, but some escaped. Those were the very first ancestors and here you can see their n x great grandchilds.
