(EDIT) - Removing oldest photos of previous Death Guard figures that I sold. Pictures were bad and didn't want to confuse anyone...

Here are some shots of the IG army in progress.

Army at its current 1,500pt level

Another shot of the whole thing

Detail shot of a typical infantry grunt. The normal infantry will all be white, while the Veteran and Stormtrooper squads will be in black.

Second shot of infantry grunt.

That command chimera looks awesome! bloody shooty to boot! your models look pretty good as far as i can tell, better photo's would be great to see the details but the faces and skin tones appear nicely done and the armor and fatigues look good!

Thanks nerdfest09, there's one Heavy Bolter too many on it, but I think it gets the job done.

In regards to the photos, my current place is too small for me to have a proper light box...but I should have a work around shortly.

Didn't intend to resurrect such an old thread, but since the original WIP photos were posted, I thought it was worth revisiting and try and update a bit more regularly.

So due to a happy coincidence in scheduling, I was able to attend this year's Las Vegas Open, and took my long in progress IG/AM army. It's started off as a Phantine regiment, but after doctrines were dropped a couple codices ago, I changed it to a Raven Guard/Deliverance PDF regiment.

I wasn't able to finish the 2 Vendettas, so as soon as those are done, will have an complete army photo up. After that, either a Raven Guard army or Ork army to start...

Along with everybody else, finding myself with more time at home lately. So, what better way to use it than resurrect a 5 year old blog attempt, and see if I can do better.

The previous Astra Militarum army was finished, and I'll try and add a group shot soon.

In the meantime, here are some finished units from a Death Guard/Dark Mechanicus army I've been wrapping up after 2+ years of working on it.

The Tech-Priest is a counts as Chaos Lord with Combi-Plasma and Power Axe:

The Contemptor Dread is a counts as Hellbrute with Reaper Autocannon and CC Weapon:

War Dog Knight #1...converted the Autocannons from the Heavy Bolter sponsons left over from a Chaos Predator tank:

War Dog Knight #2...converted the Thermal Spear from a Forgefiend, and the Chain-Cleaver arm from a Grey Knights Dreadknight kit:

Quick update on the Death Guard units. Most of my figures have been painted for a while, but finally getting around to basing and sealing them.

First off, the Lord of Contagion:

Then, my first unit of Plague Marines, armed with 2 plasma guns, aspiring champion with plasma gun, and banner bearer:

And finally, my kit-bash version of a Plague Surgeon (I really don't like GWs current model, and luckily had an old Fabius Bile model I wasn't planning on using):

Cheers!

Nice job on the plague surgeon. Are you going to rough up the loin cloth, or keep it pristine in contrast?

@monkeytroll - Gonna try experimenting with painting on nicks and tears in the loin cloth. Trying to get better at painting texture. Hopefully it looks like a doctors smock covered in years of filth.

Next up, is the 2nd squad of Plague Marines, armed with 2 melta-guns:

Overall squad shot

Custom icon bearer, made with leftover MKIII armor

And lastly, a preview of some Chaos Ogryn, that "count as" Chaos Spawn. They'll be led by the Chaos Ogryn model from the Blackstone Fortress expansion, that I've yet to open the box on. Fluff-wise, they serve as the bodyguard unit for the Dark Mechanicus Tech Priest.

Next up, trying to finish basing my Blightlord Terminators and finish converting a squad of Dark Mechanicus Skitarii Rangers that will count as Cultists.

Wonderful conversions throughout the thread, and really nice paintjobs as well. I think the models could use an additional highlight to really make them pop, but in any case they're up to a good standard already.

I'm looking forward to what you get up to next!

Spent the last few days basing and sealing some older figures. While I'm tempted to go back and add detail and extra highlighting to the older models, my goal has been to paint them to a table top quality and get cracking on my other army ideas (Grey Knights, Sisters and Crimson Fists).

Blightlord Terminator Squad - These guys were really fun to paint...would consider getting another set just to spend my time painting to a higher quality at some point.

Then we have a Malignant Plaguecaster, that I'm using as a Sorcerer:

And finally a Noxious Blightbringer that was the original test model for the army:

Next up is building the remaining Chaos Ogryn and Dark Mechanics Skitarii squad that will be count as cultists.

Small update on the Death Guard / Dark Mechanicus project:

Chaos Ogryn Bodyguards and Plague Surgeon are based and primed now. I have to say I am very impressed with the design/sculpting of the Chaos Ogryn from the Blackstone Fortress expansion pack. I haven't assembled my original Blackstone Fortress box set, but now more motivated to work on the Chaos faction.

I also have an Aspiring Champion that I've slowly been working on. I've been using this figure as an excuse to practice more with glazes and pay more attention to color temp/layout. I'll be using Sotek Green for the helmet horn and bale sword to act as a cooler color against the reds and yellows in the shading.

Lastly, I already have my Crimson Fist army planned in my head. Here's a kit-bashed version of Pedro Kantor to lead my non-Primaris force. I still need to finish the banner, text and base.

Thanks for looking, will hopefully have some paint on the Ogryns and Plague Surgeon soon.

Couple of minor updates to the project, but need to update my photo setup, as the current images are getting flattened a bit too much.

Final Death Guard aspiring champion is now complete, did a simple head swap and tried to use more washes/glazes to bring color variation:

Then, a quick preview of my Dark Mechanicus, counts as Chaos Cultists. I'm hoping to be able to use these guys in both my current Death Guard army, and a standalone Adeptus Mechanicus army, so resisting the impulse to "chaos them up too much". Their background is that they're more of a mercenary or rogue tech priest unit looking for Arceotech. The Skitarii kit allows me to salvage the Rangers with leftover IG/AM guardsmen bits to create two units from the same kit.

I plan on using the Tech Priest and Servitor from the Combat Arena game, as stand ins for the champion and heavy stubber.

Small update with the plague surgeon, as I start painting him up.

Went with a darker green to differentiate him from the rest of the Plague Marines, as well as serve as a contrast to some of the bone white that will be on the apron and shoulder/knee pads.

Then started with the first layer of gold trim...will be using several washes to knock the brightness down, and smooth out the transitions in the green armor plating.

I realized I haven't posted photos of the Predator tank and Foetid Blight Drones which I'll post next.

A little bit more work was done on the Plague Surgeon, working on the vials, servo harness, surgical smock and shoulder pad. Next up is to add the red details of the lenses and cabling, and then work on the weathering.

Thanks everyone, appreciate the feedback.

Plague Surgeon is now 99% finished. I'm still working out a design for the shoulder pad iconography...as fluff-wise, I'm leaning towards the 5th Vectorum, as they are supposed to use a lot of Daemon Engines, which goes with the Dark Mechanicus allies.

On the other hand, I tried to keep the Plague Surgeon close to heresy era, as if he's just starting his decline towards Nurgle. So either a stylized 5 or 14th Legion marking...

Next up, Chaos Ogryn and Dark Mechanicus cultists which will wrap up the army for now.

Some work was done with the Ogryns.

Next step is to add more shading on the armor, weather and highlight the metal components, and work on the eyes and other details with more shading. Shields will be done separately in the same green as the armor, but with yellow/black striping and more weathered metal.

After these guys are done, I only have the cultists left to finish off the army.

After that still deciding on which army to tackle next...Crimson Fists, Grey Knights, Sisters of Battle, Genestealer Cults, AdMech/Dark Mechanicus or Deathwatch.

Finally got around to taking some photos of the finished photos...warning lots of photos.

First up are the Ogryns that count as Chaos Spawn, using the Blackstone Fortress Ogryn and standard AM Bullgryns:

Then a quick shot of the Foetid Bloat Drones, that have been done for a while now. I used the standard model from the Dark Imperium starter set to keep costs down.

And lastly the Chaos Predator, which I kept the conversions to a minimum. With the theme of the army being a force that is in the beginning of their turn to Nurgle.

Thanks for watching!

Thanks Skinflint Games!

I still have a 10 man squad of cultists left to go to finish my current list, but feeling a little burnt out painting so much green. I'm also still deciding if I want to use my converted Adeptus Mechanicus Skitarii Rangers or the Chaos Guardsmen from the Blackstone Fortress box set that I've had sitting around gathering dust.

I also am noodling around with some Chaos Space Marine bikers that I'm trying to convert to Myphitic Blight-Haulers, but still trying to figure out something that works.

In the meantime, as a palette cleanser, I'll be trying to speed-paint/batch-paint some old metal Grey Knights I've had forever. Here's a sneak peek of what I have to get through...

I haven't updated the blog in a while but here goes...

With the Death Guard army pretty much done, I'm shifting gears to some old metal Grey Knights I've had lying around for over 10 years. This will be a smaller army of only metal figures, except for the converted Dread Knight and Dreadnoughts.

- Librarian in Terminator Armor
- 3 Terminator Squads of 5 Grey Knights
- 1 Power Armor Interceptor Squad of 10 Grey Knights
- Dread Knight
- 2 Dreadnoughts

HQ will be the Librarian in Terminator Armor:

2 out of 3 Terminator Squads are done:

Converted Dread Knight...was never a fan of the Baby Bjorn model. This is a temporary blue tac build, which is why it's leaning back like that:
