I'm laying out the artwork for the Pilot Cards.. Do you have any kind of preference for pilot card sizes? If so, please vote!

The standard "poker" sized card is 2.5x3.5" and this is how big the pilot cards were going to be. They have the name, art & basic stats on the front and any special rules for weapons or upgrades on the back.

I have a printing company I use for different projects here and there, and they're able to do "1/6 page cardstock flyers" that come out to 3.375x4.125". Full color both sides, nice heavy duty cards. If I print 500 copies, it's the same price as the poker sized cards, and cheaper the more I print. I can also do a 1/4 page, that would be 4.125" x 5.25" , for basically a half a cent more per card. I'm thinking those might be a little too big though.

My thought for the big cards is that they will look nicer, I won't have to use teeny fonts, and I could probably also do them with all of the stats and rules on 1 side.. so I could have all of the 28mm scale gun ranges and info on one side, and 15mm scale info on the other side.. then I don't have to keep track of 2 different cards for each team. But, big cards would also mean that the cards would be too big for a blister pack or clamshell for retail later on, so I would need to have full boxes printed for each team/squad type if I want to include the cards, which would drive up the retail price a little.

Just curious.. what do you guys prefer? Feel free to respond if you have any thoughts

I prefer standard sized cards, then they can be put into card sleeves, or stored in a binder, like MtG cards.
I do this with my Malifaux, Urban War, and Warmahordes cards.
It's convenient.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

Standard all the way. I like finding awesome/unique card sleeves and more excuses to use them are always welcome! Also, if you can use card sleeves on them they'll last longer, and aren't as likely to wear.

Yeah I'm gonna stick with the standard size. I do like the idea of oversized cards, but it will just be more convenient for all of the players.

Here's the layout I'm working on now.. the back of the card will have all of the rules spelled out for each weapon and upgrade, and maybe a couple sentences of fluff if there's room.

Some sort of full border would help bring the card together-or maybe I'm just used to Magic cards.

Yep I could probably give it a black border all around or something like that.

OK, I'll have an updated pic tonight, and also a pic of the flip side.. that will be mostly plain though, just all of the special rules for each pilot. I have the rules mostly all updated now, but I want to get the cards done too so testers can test the game using the official pilots now.

I think I will still do the jumbo sized cards though, but I'd do them as a downloadable PDF that you can print out yourself, for the folks that want the bigger text and stuff. But, the small standard sized cards will get printed and packaged with the models.

I decided I'm going to package everything based on the team and pilot, rather than generic race mechs.. so like in the Kickstarter if you were to just pick 1 light mech you can select Havok or Manowar or any other pilot, instead of "terran light mech with chainguns". I'm going to drop the amount of pilots on a team to 6 to begin with, or 7 if we unlock the heavies. So a full team will be 4 light mech pilots, 2 mediums and 1 heavy, and then they will be packaged as 2 squad sets that come with 2 lights and a medium. Each pilot/mech will will also be available separately too. The squad sets will be a little cheaper than buying the 3 models separately.

Here's the updated card.. front and back I like the border, it ties it all together a lot better

It definitely looks a lot better now. Really brought it together- much more professional looking.
